The purpose of e-mail, as we all know, is to transmit text based
messages between users. There are some modifications to this such as
MIME encoding, file attachments etc. However for simple message
forwarding the accepted practice is to use plain ASCII-based text.

Pretty colored lettering etc. is best left to the world of kindly old
grandmothers sending pictures of their nieces back and forth.

In my experience, using schemes with weird coloring etc. will
quickly cause the sender to lose credibility in the eyes of any
business recipient. Perhaps your grandmother won't care.

I am not a column editor (yes I know, don't complain unless
you do the work). (MY column editing was in the days of mimeo
stencils, then I upgraded to a used IBM electric with a carbon film
ribbon, and white-out fluid) But if I were an editor, I would have
a policy that anything like grey on black would be routed to
File 13 after determining that the sender could not or would
not fix it..
