Barry,
Although over $100, the Sony ICF-7600GR, or a used
ICF-7600G would be my choice. The ICF-7600Gs are going
for pretty decent prices on Ebay these days. While the
Grundig S-350 appears to have gained a following,
there sure seems to be a lot of them listed as
non-working on Ebay. I wonder if some QC issues are
involved. I seem to recall references of a significant
number of QC issues surrounding the Grundig SAT 800
radios when they came out. The Sony travels well and
has a decent size vs. performance ratio. I take my
7600G or my modified RS DX-398 with me whenever I
travel and they have served me well. Have a safe and
enjoyable trip!
Good DX.

Hi CraigI still have a Sony ICF 2001D boxed up in the shed. It must be 20 years old and I think I have problems with the memory battery compartment. (Failed contact=blank display=loss of station.) I do like Sony gear. I have a £10 Sony analogue portable for around the house which has sharp selectivity. I may dig out the ICF and have a look at how big a problem I have. It certainly gave a good account of itself when we were in AB & MT a few years ago. I have been to FL a couple of times now and have not been impressed DX wise around WDW even at 0500EST. Noisy and lots of powerful signals on the AM band. Still it's a vacation for the family not a DXpedition hi!
