I find this topic very interesting to what I want to do in the future. It brings up some good points like retaining the original, can the station play it and how long does it last. The DSP filtering is also a plus.
I use a Realistic CTR-85 cassette recorder and just set it in front of the speaker. I works well. I also bought Total Recorder to run on my Toshiba laptop. I haven't used it much and need to spend time with it. The recorder is used primarily to tape stations for better reception report details like missed ads and the text of an ID. I would like to be able to use Total recorder to record the station and convert it to a file that can be played on any PC. I don't know enough about it but I think a WAV file is what I want. It can then be written onto the small size CD and mailed to the station with the report. It would cost less to mail and most people could play it on a CD player or on a PC. The original is still retained in case a follow-up is needed. The file would also have time/date stamp on it as an added bonus. I think this is the way to go but I just haven't done it yet. Any hints on converting Total Recorder files to WAV files would be appreciated or else I'll have to read the manual!

Hi All,
The current audio recorder I use for DX is just about deceased. (cassette) Are there any recommendations out there concerning Mini-disc recorders or possibly newer technology? I usually don't keep my recordings, but I often play back parts of a recording, sometimes many times. Can this be done with Mini-discs? Typically, I run the tape from beginning to end then flip it over, till the tape is worn out, hi. Also, less expensive is probably what I'm looking for.
