[IRCA] RE: [NRC-AM] TIS stations

Maybe they set it up to be legal, I set up a TIS on 1620 at 10 watts into a 35 foot loaded resonant antenna over a few ground radials in Northern KY and it went 20 Miles! After checking it with a field strength meter I found it to be about 10 DB over power. I had to adjust the power to just under 1 watt to make the required 2 MVM field at 1.5 KM spelled out in the rules. That cut the range to 6 or 7 miles. I think allot of operators forget that last part. They set it to 10 Watts and let er rip.

After 1650 Astoria signed on last week, another on 1610 signed back on
from the Hammond Boat Basin (Hammond OR), but this time the signal is
very poor at 5 or 6 miles away. Maybe S5 or S6 days, non existant at
night. Much weaker than they used to be. I wonder if they moved? I'll
have to check the locations on both 1650 & 1610. I think 1650 is near
the Astoria-Warrenton bridge (Astoria) as I drove past there tonight and
it was strong and even on 1660.
