[HCDX] MW Logs

All times/dates GMT.

530 OVER FLORIDA WATERSPACE R Martí (via the 193rd PANG PsyOps aircraft) -
2213-2250 30 October, alone and local level, definitely the first local
Saturday since Hurricane Ivan in mid-September and the wave of hurricanes
thereafter forced this once to deactivate. Usual Spanish commentaries and
news, // 6030, et. al. Thanks Gerry Bishop for the phone alert tip.
Recheck around 2330 had Radio Visión Cristiana dominating over Martí.

1060 CUBA R Veinteseis, unknown site, Matanzas - 0858+ 31 October w/ female
"Esta es Radio Veinteseis... 1060 kiloHertz, desde Matanzas... 5 de la
mañana." Brief chatter by man, then into boleros. So, the first clear
confirmation that Cuba didn't switch off of Daylight Time.

1122.8 UNIDENTIFIED (CUBA?)- 0904+ 31 October, big, warbling FM grinding
blob noted here, no real audio detected. Still present 1600+, so suspect a
malfing Cuban transmitter, especially since noted pre/post local MW
day/night power and pattern potential spurious sources. Anyone outside of
Tampa Bay able to confirm? Exact frequency hard to determine, if there
really is one.

1172.7 UNIDENTIFIED - 0905+ 31 October, threshold music. Presume something
Latin American.

1359.71 FLORIDA WHNR, Winter Haven - 0914+ 31 October, US soul and blues
oldies, black female "I'm Debra McDowell and thank you for listening... on
your blues and oldies station..." Same off-frequency observation here as
Crawford logs. Fair signal at best.

1500 UNIDENTIFIEDS - 0935+ 31 October, a pileup of at least three Spanish
stations, Enciclopedia possibly one but not the dominant one, unsure if the
local WPSO New Port Richey station may have been one (none // 1520 local
Greek). Presume one of these (or the below) is not WKIZ, Key West, that is
if they are still talk (ex-Spanish format). A domestic English or two also
popping up at times.

1500.05 UNIDENTIFIED - 0935+ 31 October, Spanish man, nondescript Spanish
vocals. At times, fair level on fade-ups. Not WPSO, as they were
on-frequency at 1630 check, though with only brief blips of Greek audio
every minute or two, something wrong with their feed or board patch.
