530 TURKS AND CAICOS, RVC, South Caicos MAY 4 0503
- with SS talk, very poor and could only pick up the word "informacíon" out of
the signal. First time heard in May for me ! + MAY 4 0518 - to fair peak (!)
with man preaching (Chiochiu-QC)
640 CUBA, CMBC, Radio Progreso, Guanabacoa MAY 3
0434 - Presumed ! Noted at a very threshold level with music (too weak to
clearly determine if tropical or pop type of music, but sounded a
bit SS). (Chiochiu-QC)
890 CUBA, CMDZ, Radio
Progreso, Chambas MAY 4 0512-0513 - Poor and continiously fading with music.
Seemed // with 640 but not sure. (Chiochiu-QC)
1180 CUBA, CMBA, Radio Rebelde,
Villa-Maria MAY 4 0432 - with old-fashioned female son song way
under WHAM, but very clearly parallel with 5025 SW 60 meters wich was huge
! This is the 1st LAm I positively identify (thanks to the 5025 parallel) on MW
in the month of May; I only got presumably Progreso-640 the past night and
around 2 years ago in May 2001 I got for 6 minutes a so a futboll game on 760
from presumably RCN Barranquilia (wich is sometimes a "pest" during the
fall and winter months here), but it was too weak to pick up too many words. All
my respect to Mark Connelly who say the "DX season never ends". And this is true
to some extent even here inland, in Montreal ! + MAY 4 0526-0528 - Even better
right now and was actually quite good, with man talk followed by a salsa song.
Was way over WHAM for 10 or 15 seconds around 0527, but after 0528
was rapidly fading down and after 0529 WHAM was virtually
alone. (Chiochiu-QC)
With the time set on EDT
instead of EST it doesn't get completly dark until about 9:05 or 9:10 PM here in
Montreal, and it takes sometime after that for the D layer to dissapear
completly. 1 AM is better than 12 AM and after 1 AM is even better to hear
station due west of south like Rebelde-1180. This is a very big disavantage if I
have school the next day.
I also did note the following on SW (didn't note
the times like I did for MW):
2500 WWV Fort Collins, CO (the only WWV previosuly
not logged; new)
4890 unID - two stations one in African FF
and the second one in an unID langauge. The second one might have been
Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
5025 Radio Rebelde, Cuba huge
!
6010 unID mx in 10 kHz splash from next-to-adjacent
Radio Habana Cuba on 6000. XEOI, Radio Parinacota (Chile) and La Voz de tu
Consencía are all three possible
6185 XEMPM Radio Educacíon Onda Corta - Mexico,
D.F. - often very strong with nice mariaci mx.
9580 Africa Numéro Un - Libreville, Gabon - with
top-of-the-hour stuff at 0500 UTC on Friday throught Saturday night (Sat. morn
at 0100 AM EDT). First time received at this time around sunrise at the tx site
!
That's it for now !,
73 and good DX,
Bogdan
