Here's a follow-up to the item I posted last week about the AIR FM station
in Lucknow.  Frequency is 100.7.  Now all I need is a super amazing e-skip
opening, and to nuke local CHIN-100.7

 AIR's FM channel inaugurated in Lucknow

 LUCKNOW: The much-awaited FM channel of  Akashvani
and Doordarshan Metro Channel 10 kv transmittewr was
inaugurated on Sunday by governor  Suraj Bhan at a
function held in the Ganna Sansthan
here on Sunday. The high-powered transmitter will cover an
area upto 90 km and provide better reception to
approximately 1.64 crore viewers in and around the
capital.

Speaking on the occasion, Union minister for information
and broadcasting Arun Jaitley said that DD-Metro facility
would be available shortly in some important cities of the
state, including Varanasi, Agra, Gorakhpur, Allahabad and
Bareilly. "The transmitters for these centres are ready and
only need to be installed there," he said.

The FM channel, informed the minister, will begin with an
eight-hour broadcast and gradually be extended to 24
hours. The channel could be heard at 100.7 MHz.
The governor, said that Akashvani and Doordarshan had
not lost their popularity despite tough competition posed
by other channels and the Internet. "Both have done an
excellent work in providing quality entertainment and
valuable education to the masses," he said, adding that he
hoped that the updated facilities would go a long way in
furthering these goals.

 Also present on the occasion were chief minister Ram
Prakash Gupta and quite a few of his cabinet colleagues
and party functionaries including Lalji Tandon and Kalraj
Mishra. The inaugural session was followed by a cultural
programme which witnessed a mesmerising shehnai recital
by none other than Ustad Bismillah Khan. Later, a dance
troupe comprising of Doordarshan artists presented a
kathak performance.
