Re: [HCDX] Tube radio question

HI:
A fellow hollow state lover myself. I am using a R390a which I have
restored and a R388 which is pretty fantastic also. But still have the S-38
my Dad bought me some 40 years ago and still works. But have to say that my
favorite is a Zenith Transoceanic. Not sure why but suspect the tuning dial
is the reason I like it so much. What a recevier. Hey, not so bad at dxing
but the AGC has a lot to be desired. But overall great audio from this old
baby. Well not too old as was made in 1958. It is a 1L6 eater. Loves those
expensive tubes. The cheap ones hardly ever fail. I think I have latched
on to a good 1L6 this time however as I have not had to replace it in over
year....

The R390a with a SE3 is for serious stuff. Fantastic receiver and better
with the SE 3. You might consider adding one to yours as no mods required
as has the output jack on the back of the reciever. Just plug it in and
brace yourself for some fine audio.
