GLEANINGS
ANGUILLA- DGS on 11775 was splattering beyond 11715, noted when tuning
in RKI via RCI at 1030 Sept 26 (Glenn Hauser, OK / GH SHORTWAVE/DX
REPORT 99-42, Sept. 30)
AUSTRALIA- Glenn Hauser`s comments are (at least) misleading. The
chairman of HCJB Australia off course did not refer to the US-govt
International Bureau of Broadcasting but to the Board of HCJB's parent
organisation in the USA. I think this was very "evident" in the original
interview. The chairman stressed that although some money will be raised
for the project in Australia not all the money can come from this
country and international donors especially in the USA will be needed.

99-43, Oct 7) --- Humm, I bet he is right, but it certainly was not
evident to me, as ``The U.S. Board'' was referred to as if it were an
external entity, not HCJB itself. I have asked Allen Graham for
clarification (Hauser / GH SHORTWAVE/DX REPORT 99-43, Oct 7)
AUSTRALIA- David Parkinson did refer several times to the U.S. board,
and he was referring to the Board of Directors of WRMF in the U.S., not
any U.S. government agency. I never thought about this being interpreted
any other way, but should have been more sensitive to this and made it
clear. I'm sorry, Glenn. Although the Australia office is legally
autonomous, the overall project would be in partnership with WRMF so
would have to be coordinated with the U.S. board for WRMF. In checking
the material I have on Kununurra from the HCJB Australia office, it is
in Western Australia, not the Northern Territory, as Bob has said. I
listened to the file and David refers to this once, right at the
beginning of the interview. He says, "The site that we have is on the
Ord River Scheme in Northwestern Northern Australia at Kununurra." This
is the only time he mentions it, and he doesn't say Western Australia or
Northern Territory! It is right near the border as you say, so maybe
that's why he said what he did! However, to be accurate, it is in

and 40 degrees North, where most of the people who have not heard the
Gospel live, i.e. most Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists. On 22 Sep 99,

Leach has been enlisted to speak to the peacekeepers. Broadcasting from
Melbourne, the host of the JJJ news and reviews show Creatures of the
Spotlight will send out a special hour-long session, every night at 9.30
Timor time, on Radio Australia's shortwave frequencies 9500 and
11660kHz. [1330 UT] Leach's take on news, as well as interviews, music
and messages from home - to begin within a week - will complement an
already-expanded programming set directed at East Timor and Indonesia.
And, yes, that includes the footy finals. But family and friends who
want to send messages to troops in East Timor via Leach will have to
wait until the ABC and the Defence Department work out the logistics.
Radio Australia has moved money around to fund the nightly broadcast and
plans to continue "for as long as we're in there [with troops]".

CLANDESTINE COLOMBIA- Guerra declarada a Voz de la Resistencia(FARC).
Deacuerdo a mi reporte anterior corrijo ya que había escrito Comando
central y lo correcto es "Bloque Oriental". Disculpen. El pasado 23 de
septiembre del aNo en curso me dirigí a monitorear a "Voz de la
Resistencia-Bloque Oriental" en la primera emisión entre las *1130-1230*
en 6095 KHz pero solo escuche a WSHB "Heraldo de la Ciencia Cristiana"
en EspaNol (1130-1200*)pero los encontre en los 6158v KHz a las 1150 UT
con seNal regular e iniciando con el programa "Recomendaciones para el
Combatiente" (con sonidos de disparo de fondo)pero para sorpresa esa
emisión era interferida por una no identificada transmitiendo solo
música Vallenata sin parar a ellos los escuche mejor en la frecuencia de
los 6164v KHz. En la segunda emisión (*2130-2230*) los escuche en los
6160 KHz pero a las 2229 UT la locutora dijo antes del cierre....."Si no
nos escucha,busquenos a lo largo de los 49 metros", también invitaban a
que dieran sugerencias de 1700-1800 UT en la frecuencia de los 77.35 y
cerrando con el usual "CompaNeros de la FARC.." justo a las 2230 UT
apareció la seNal de la emx "NO identificada" en los 6157v variando a
6154 KHZ emitiendo música Vallenata sin parar y luego música ranchera y
cerrando a las 2245 UT. -Septiembre 24/99 a las 1148 UT escuche en los
6169v KHz a Voz de la Resistencia causandole interferencia a
caracol-Florencia la UNID estaba en los 6162 KHz escuche a una locutora
dirijiendose a "SeNores Guerrilleros" solo unos pocos minutos y
emitiendo música Vallenata sin parar hasta las 1245 UT. Ya en la segunda
emisión la emisora de la FARC abrio a las *2130 UT aún en los 6169v KHz
con programa"Noti Enfoque"pero la Unid aparecio a las *2145 UT alrededor
de los 6158v ahora con música llanera y ranchera sin parar notada aquí
hasta las 2245*. Por otro lado Voz de la Resistencia Bloque Oriental
cuando cerro a las 2230* dijeron "Volveremos a las 6.30 (1130 UT)en la
frecuencia acostumbrada".Slogan: "Somos Voz de Resistencia, Somos FARC,
Somos ejército del pueblo" ->En Septiembre 25/99 En 6169v a las 1140 UT
con NotiEnfoque slogan "Voz de la Resistencia...la voz insurgente del
pueblo colombiano", Libre de QRM con SINPO 54444 !!!!,ya en la segunda
emisión a las *2130 UT aún en los 6169v pero esta vez si la Unid
aparecio en la misma frecuencia causandole un FuertE QrM emitiendo
música llanera,otro slogan "hacemos de la radio otra forma de
lucha",Nota ahora si estan con interferencia pero solo alrededor de 45
minutos luego queda libre de QRM, pero al cierre a las 2230 UT la
emisora de la FARC anunciaron "esperenos maNana a las 6.30 (1130 UT) en
la nueva frecuencia de 6260 KHz". ->En Sept 26/99 en 6262v KHz Voz de la
Resistencia notada en esta nueva frecuencia escuchada a las 2205 UT
iniciando con la sección musical.otro slogan "Abriendo camino hacía la
nueva Colombia". Pero nada de la "no identificada" antes del cierre a
las 22.30 UT el locutor dijo "Sino nos encuentra aquí busquenos en la
banda de los 49 metros desde los 5800 hasta los 6400
KHz".SINPO:34433 ->En Sept 27/99 en 6262v KHz a las 1136 UT con
NotiEnfoque, con Fuerte QRM de la Unid la cual esta emitiendo música
popular,la emisora de la FARC llegando sin QRM en 6258v KHz con leve
splash de la Unid. SINPO 33333. Ya en la segunda emisión en los 6258v
KHz llegando mejor en 6262v KHz con Fuerte QRM !!! pero la unid cerró a
las 2220 UT y Voz de la Resistencia se escucho mejor. ->En Sept 28 en
6258v 1140 UT(22222) Hoy si fue difícil escucharlos por la interferencia
de la Unid que ya al menos dieron un nombre,locutora..."Ese fue nuestro
último "Artículo" siempre les estaré acompaNando a la misma hora..."La
Voz del Pueblo",seguido con música llanera. A las 2205 UT aún en los
6258v KHz con "Recomendaciones para el Combatiente" con leve splash de
La Voz del Pueblo" ellos llegando hasta los 6264v KHz.SINPO 34433 ->En
Sept 29 en 6258v 1135 UT,SINPO 23322,con Nota Editorial pero se pone
difícil copiarles Por QRM de "La Voz del Pueblo" (parece que les esta
fallando el Txer porque desaparecen y vuelven a los pocos minutos),Ya a
las 2205 UT en la nueva frecuencia de 6193v con SINPO 33333 no hay
seNal de la Voz del Pueblo. ->En Sept 30 en 6195v a las *1130 UT luego
de CompaNeros de la FARC" con NotiEnfoque SINPO 44444, pero La Voz del
Pueblo estaba en 6189v con "Artículos". Nota: Escuche también de Sept 30
a las 20.20 UT en 6240 KHz con seNal débil a Voz de la Resistencia
Comando de Occidente. En la segunda emisión los note en la nueva
frecuencia de 6280 KHz a las *2130 UT libre de QRM de la Voz del Pueblo
que no estuvieron en el aire? ->En Oct 1/99 ahora estuvieron en 6095 KHz
a las 1150 UT y a las *2130 UT con buena seNal,aún nada de La Voz del

CLANDESTINE KURDISTAN- Voice of the People of Kuridistan presumed the
one on 6985 Sunday 26th, man in Arabic or similar 1720, brief burst of
music, mention of Kurdistan and Mujahed and further music and talks.
Fair signal on clear channel, distorted on AM but easy copy on both LSB

CLANDESTINE KURDISTAN-Voice of the People of Kurdistan has moved to 6985
from 7000. 17.00 Id then Nx also on 4060 20 and 23 Sep (Mahendra
Vaghjee, Mauritius, Sept 26, WORLD OF RADIO 1005)
COLOMBIA-Yimber Gaviria, Cali, sends us a detailed report in Spanish,
which we translate and condense here: Caracol-Florencia, 6169v, with
local news at 1133 until closing at 1200* Sept 27. Please excuse a
mistake in my previous report referring to Comando Central as one of the
FARC programs; the correct term is Bloque Oriental. Monitoring of Voz de
la Resistencia, Bloque Oriental, which had been on 6095: Sept 23 at
*1130-1230* I heard only WSHB on 6095, in Spanish; but I found them at
1150 on 6158v starting "Recommendations for the combatant" with sounds
of gunfire in the background. This had interference from an unID station
with nonstop Vallenata music on 6164v. The second broadcast at
*2130-2230* heard VozRes on 6160 with female announcer saying to look
for them all over the 49 meter band, and asked for suggestions at
1700-1800 on 77.35 [sic]. Just as they were closing, the Vallenata music
station appeared on 6157v to 6154, later ranchera music until 2245*
Sept 24: VozRes at 1148 on 6169v interfering with Caracol-Florencia. The
UnID was on 6162 addressing "Sen~ores Guerrilleros" for a few minutes
and then nonstop Vallenata music until 1245. The second FARC broadcast
opened at *2130 on 6169v with Noti-Enfoque, but the unID appeared at
*2145 around 6158v, now with llanera and ranchera music nostop until
2245*. VozResBloqOrl closed at *2230 saying they would be back at 6.30,
i.e. 1130 UT on the usual frequency. Sept 25: 1140 on 6169v, free of
interference, SINPO 54444! The second broadcast at 2130 on 6169v this
time with the unID on the same frequency, strong QRM with llanera music;
free of this after 2215, and at 2230 closing FARC station said they
would be on new frequency of 6260 the next morning at 1130. Sept 26: at
2205 VozRes on new 6262v beginning musical portion, nothing from the
unID before 2230* when said if you don't find us, look for us on the 49
meter band from 5800 to 6400. Sept 27: at 1136 on 6262v, NotiEnfoque,
strong QRM from unID with pop music; FARC moved to 6258v with light
splash from unID. Second broadcast: 6258v, better on 6262v with strong
QRM, but the unID closed at 2220 and VozRes was heard better. Sept 28:
1140 on 6258v the unID at least gave a name, La Voz del Pueblo, then
llanera music. At 2205 still on 6258v with Recommendations for the
Combatant, light splash from La Voz del Pueblo, reaching up to 6264v.
Sept 29: 1135 on 6258v, editorial but difficult to copy due to QRM from
La Voz del Pueblo. Appears the [FARC] transmitter is failing, since it
comes and goes every few minutes. At 2205 on new 6193v, with no signal
from La Voz del Pueblo. Sept 30: *1130 on 6195v with Compan~eros de la
FARC and NotiEnfoque, but La Voz del Pueblo was on 6189v with Articulos.
Also heard this date at 2020 on 6240 weak signal from Voz de la
Resistencia Comando de Occidente. Second broadcast at 2130 on new 6280,
free of QRM from La Voz del Pueblo. Oct 1: Now they are on 6095 at 1150
and at *2130 with good signal, nothing from La Voz del Pueblo (Yimber

COLOMBIA- Last February we had an item from BBC Monitoring giving
websites for Colombian rebels and military. I recently rechecked them
and found that FARC, which operates all the Voces de la Resistencia, at
< http://www.ucsd.edu/farc-ep/ >no longer works; evidently the
University of California at San Diego decided it no longer wished to be
associated with them. As for ELN, one does not reach them at page<
http://www.voces.org >but defaults to the server. The army's web page<
http://www.ejercito.mil.co > however, still exists and is quite strange.
It took several minutes to start loading with opening animation
initially unreadable of world map eventually zeroing in on Colombia
