THE FOUR WINDS ON LINE - Copyright 1998 Part 3
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Year 3 - Number 63 - Rome,24 June 1998
BULGARIA - R. Bulgaria off-frequency again, June 16 at 1152 check on
15175.6, quickly confirmed as the Greece carrier came on 15175.0 causing
a heterodyne (Glenn Hauser, OK / GH SW/DX Report 98 27 June 18)
CHILE - [non]. R. Voz Cristiana, 21550, booming in June 8 at 1301 check;
finally something instead of music tests. Now a demo tape of "En
Compania", which will be their morning magazine show. I know it's a demo
since kept fading segments out, and the whole thing repeated a few
minutes later. Included F-only sample temps for Asuncion. Sounds
ambitious, with lots of segments aimed at women, such as "La Mujer de
Hoy en America Latina" (Glenn Hauser, OK / GH SW/DX Report 98-26, June
11)
CLANDESTINE IRAN - Voice of Mojahed 0154-0220+ 4850, 5620v, 5629.1,
5670v kHz Man in Farsi with ID and into march music. Iranian bubble
jammer also present. Parallel to 5629.01 kHz and another transmitter
jumping around between 5620 and 5670 kHz. 4850 and 5629.01 did not
move. (Grace-USA for CRW # 6)
COSTA RICA - RFPI's mirror site, belonging.org is down, and may be for
some time. Please go to the original site, including the gh profile: <
http://www.clark.net/pub/cwilkins/rfpi > (Joe Bernard, RFPI Mailbag,
WORLD OF RADIO 945 / GH SW/DX Report 98 27 June 18)
CZECH REPUBLIC - Seemingly Radio Prague will continue to carry it's
German service on short-wave, at least until December. (Gerhold Gerdes
via Hansjoerg Biener via Kai Ludwig, 17 May / NDXM 6/98)
FRANCE - RFI English at 1200 on 15530 via Guiana was absent on June 6
for the entire hour, barely audible on //15540 Gabon. One feared another
permanent cutback, but it returned June 7 at usual super-strength (Glenn
Hauser, OK / GH SW/DX Report 98-26, June 11)
INDONESIA - RRI Tanjung Pinang on 3224.8kHz reactivated in the beginning
of June. Sign off time is now 1215. (Juichi Yamada, JAPAN /Jembatan DX #
48)
INDONESIA - RRI Tanjungkarang on 3395.1kHz broadcasts all night wayang
kulit program on 2nd Saturday. (Juichi Yamada, JAPAN /Jembatan DX # 48)
IRAQ - R. Iraq Int'l, 11785, June 6 at 0300-0340+; tune-in to English
news by woman until 0303, then Mid-east music, English commentary, ID.
Program at 0315 with listeners' letters/ reception reports. Surprisingly
good, clear audio. Still had hum but was perfectly readable with no
distortion. But weak co-channel QRM from unID station with Koran & talk
in language (Brian Alexander, PA, WORLD OF RADIO 944 / GH SW/DX Report
98-26, June 11)

w/talk & ID, May 31. (Sheryl Paszkiewicz via EDXP # 91). (Ed: Site is

NIGERIA - [non]. R. Nadeco, via WWCR, has changed to a weekly broadcast,
Wed 1930 on 15685, Sun 0800 on 5070 (Ask WWCR June 8 via Hauser / GH
SW/DX Report 98-26, June 11) Still 15 minutes; the 0800 will obviously
not propagate to Nigeria. With the sudden death of Abacha, bet NADECO
wish they had kept going weekdays on old schedule (Hauser / GH SW/DX
Report 98-26, June 11)
NIGERIA - [non]. It seems that one of our erstwhile Nigerian clandestine
groups has bought some time on WGTG --From: <NAGDHR@xxxxxxx> Date: Thu,

REVIEW OF INTERNATIONAL BROADCASTING / GH SW/DX Report 98 27 June 18)
---- I taped the 0530 broadcast and it sounded a lot like the old Radio
New Nigeria, sponsored by the same group until January via DTK,
including two much background music and production impairing
intelligibility on SW. And the regular 1930 Sat broadcast, competing
with at least two other Nigerian opposition programs at the same time,
is not likely to make it to Nigeria on so low a frequency over a summer
mostly-daylight path from WGTG, which was not named in the press release
reproduced above (Glenn Hauser, WORLD OF RADIO 945 / GH SW/DX Report 98
27 June 18)
NIGERIA - [non]. Made a point of monitoring the first broadcast of
Voice of Oduduwa, tho I never heard any such ID, tnx to Johnson/ Cumbre
tip, Mon June 15 at 2100 on WHRA 15460. Reception was very good, and
probably has a good chance of getting into Nigeria, tho one always
wonders what fraction of the rated 500 kW is actually being used. Opened
with talking drums, then mix of talk in presumed Yoruba (only?) and
music, with speakerine sometimes breaking into song; only English were
mentions of "shortwave 15.460"; 2111 mentioned BBC; 2113-2123 English
segment, with actuality of someone bemoaning "appointment of a new
dictator"; and various English speakers from a rally, poorly recorded
and edited, invoking god. 2123 back to Yoruba; 2126 a bit more English
with anti-Abacha comments, and the rest in Yoruba almost until 2200; no
closing of program as WHRA went into frequency-change announcement to
13760 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 945 / GH SW/DX Report 98 27 June
18)
NIGERIA - [non]. The Wednesday June 17 broadcast of the Nigerian
opposition program via WHRA 15460 almost didn't happen -- at 2100 USA
Network News, 2105 dead air; 2109 it finally started. Later English
segment around 2122 sounded identical to what I had heard during the
Yoruba program on Monday, from a June 8 rally, singing "All We Are
Saying" with new topical lyrics to tune of "Give Peace a Chance" (Glenn
Hauser, OK / GH SW/DX Report 98 27 June 18)
PIRATE EUROPE - I received the following press release from tha italian
pirate station Radio Mistero Ghost Planet: "RMGP informs all the
listeners that the last despatch from P.O. Box in Wuppertal is of
december 1997. We have just received a messagge from the operator in
Wuppertal sating that a further despatch (of approx. 1 Kg) was sent to
us on march 9th, 1998. Now, with this big delay, we beleive that the
above despatch will never reach us. We are really sorry, but we think
that all the letters sent to us from our friends from middle december
1997 to the beginning of march 1998 have been probably stopped, or
missed, or stolen. We will be very happy if all our friends can send us
again a copy of the reception reports of that period (it is clear that
the support for return postage is not required) and we will reply to
everybody very urgently. It is also clear that we will recommend again
to the operator in Wuppertal to provide to small partial despatches, at
least every two weeks, as it was in the past. Thank you very much in
advance for your co-operation. Regards/R.M.G.P." (Pecolatto, Italy
/Radiorama Pirate News June # 1)
PIRATE EUROPE - After the raid the new address of Radio
Borderhunter/Grensjager is the P.O. Box 44, B-2387 Baarle-Hertog,
Belgium. (Pecolatto, Italy /Radiorama Pirate News June # 1)
PIRATE EUROPE - Radio Free London announce the snail mail: RFL, 101B,

Cedex, France. e-mail: RFLsw@xxxxxxx Check out the RFL web site at: <

UAE - UAE Radio, Dubai, 15400, May 31 0329- English opening
announcements giving 15400, 13675, 12005; 0330 news, program about
Jersualem. Heard // 13675, 12005; best on 13675 (Brian Alexander, PA,
WORLD OF RADIO 944 / GH SW/DX Report 98-26, June 11)
UKOGBANI - Contrary to BBC On Air, a late-scheduled special pre-empts
the 1700 airing of Heritage this Sunday June 14 on AE as well as other
programmes on the other streams: A Question of Europe, on the eve of the
European Summit from Cardiff, a group of leaders in a debate led by Huw
Edwards, with an audience of international students. Repeats of the half
sesquihour show are on AE Mon 0815; As Sun 2115, Mon 0815 (BBC WS Press
Office via Hauser, WORLD OF RADIO 944 / GH SW/DX Report 98-26, June 11)
URUGUAY -11735 Radio Oriental is running a special sked 1030-0330 during
the soccer World Cup being held for whole a month in France. Relaying of
its sister station, R. Montecarlo usually carried on 6140 and 9595 will
remain unoperative for this period. The final match of this World Cup
will be on July 12. This per Alexi Haysaniuk, technical manager, who
called me asking for help in monitoring for possible spurs 200 Khz
above/below, i.e.:11535 and 11935. Direccion Nacional de Comunicaciones
had warned them this was occurring.Well, Nothing up to now can be hrd,
but I can remember some spur problem, mainly when they used 6140 some
time ago. Nice that a station technical person would be calling a DXer
for station monitoring. There are seventy Uruguayan radio and TV
journalists covering the event, although the Uruguayan national soccer
team is not present in this occasion. (Nigro-Uruguay, Jun 17)
USA - A few weeks ago WWBS told me they had to rebuild part of the final
amplifier, the latest delay. Whenever I check, they say they will be
ready to go on the air "in a few weeks" (George Thurman, TX, June 7,
REVIEW OF INTERNATIONAL BROADCASTING / GH SW/DX Report 98-26, June 11)
USA -[non?]. Checking 9760, Sat May 30 at 2128, heard repeating ID
marker with tone burst, "This is Radio Free Europe - Radio Liberty,
Praha". I thought this was a VOA frequency. People often hear similar ID
markers from R. Free Asia, which I think are not intended for broadcast,
but to keep the feed channel open and identified (Glenn Hauser, OK / GH
SW/DX Report 98-26, June 11)
USA - Checked with the WWBS guy again, and now he says it may be another
month before they're on. Some components failed in a dummy load test and
are to be replaced. Both 11905 and 11910 have now been authorized
(George Thurman, TX, June 15, REVIEW OF INTERNATIONAL BROADCASTING via
Hauser / GH SW/DX Report 98 27 June 18)
