PECOLATTO - A.I.R. - The Associazione Italiana Radioascolto and the
editors of Radiorama and Pirate News, on the occasion of the 5th
anniversary of the first issue of Pirate News, the monthly page of
Radiorama dealing with Pirate stations, have decided to devote a
weekend to this particular type of DXing, from 1600 UTC October 31st to
2400 UTC November 2nd 1997. The participation is open to all European
DXers, even if not AIR members. For the rules send a messagge to: <

VALKO - 4 October 1997 Went up to the Dip QTH for another
microDXpedition this morning. Beverages were: 500' at 180°, and 400' at
290°. Got started at 0930. Conditions weren't as good as last
Saturday. All signals weaker. Oddly enough, Indonesians were better
than barely copiable PNGs on 90 meters. Around 1105, watched several
deer walk across the stripcut. Several minutes later I noticed movement
behind me. Turned around and saw 2 buck walking and grazing up along
the car about 40 feet away at most!! Both were at least 4 pointers and
obviously last years deer. When the front buck got to the antenna, it
pushed the antenna with its hooves, got briefly startled and trotted off
for about 30 feet. The second one walked right over the antenna. ---
The het on 6183.2 was there at 1123, along with a distorted signal on
6182 (the jammer??). CH tlk on 6185 too. --- 4200.01, The Bolivian here
was not very strong at 0947, so I didn't stick with it.
SUNDSTROM - 4850. Cameroon, Uzbek and ? - following up the loggings of
Cameroon and Uzbekistan (t) on Oct 6 and 7, Victor Goonetileki confirmed
the IS we heard is, in fact, Uzbek Radio. And Finn Krone told us the
"The bubble jammer is chasing V.O.Mojahed which is inside band at
present (v. 4830-4890)." I thank both Victor and Finn for the help on
this frequency! On Oct 8, at 2005 t/in the bubble jammer was atop
Cameroon (in French), but faded down quickly. And at 2030 we heard
Cameroon, the bubble jammer and - surprise! - the Uzbek Radio IS, the
latter underneath the other two signals.
KRONE - Nordic DX Championships 1997 (Nordx) 17-19 October 1997 hosted
by DX-Listeners' Club of Norway. Nordx is a contest to find the most
skilful DXer in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. It attracts over
100 contestants from these countries and the rest of Europe.
Contestants are required to listen out for 23 stations at predetermined
times and frequencies, some of which are quite easy, others very
difficult. Contestants are ranked according to a points system which
takes into account the number of stations they have managed to hear and
the difficulty of those stations, as well as the quality of the logs
they have submitted. Nordx '97 is staged between 17 and 19 October.
Further information about Nordx '97 may be obtained from the address
above or by referring to our web page: < http://www.dxlc.com/nordx >
