Re: [IRCA] Or get a Perseus...

I don't know if you've kept up with SDR developments, but there are a
number of cost effective, high performing choices in SDR receivers now. As
you'll recall, I was a big proponent of the Perseus early-on, and for five
years I ran a blog devoted to the receiver. "Times are a-changin' " however.

Two alternatives to Perseus to consider are:

The Elad FDM-S2 (about half the cost of Perseus, and has a recording
bandwidth up to ~6 MHz; up to four virtual, simultaneous receivers within
the bandwidth, each able to send their output to different audio recording
devices). This SDR will run a number of freeware software packages
including Elad's own FDM-SW2. Frequency coverage is to 30 MHz *plus* 6m.
amateur band and the low band VHF including FM broadcast (the FDM-S2 is
supposed to be an excellent FM DXing rig). This is the main SDR I use now.
http://shop.elad-usa.com/sdr-radio/fdm-s2/ It's currently on sale for *$529
USD.* Here's an excellent tech review of the FDM-S2:

Afedri SDR-Net. Up to 1.85 MHz recording bandwidth; LAN interface for
remote access; 100 kHz-30 MHz coverage. Price: *$259 USD.*

trade, but haven't yet configured it.

Two reviews of the SDR-Net:
