[IRCA] TP's & DU's for Saturday, August 18, 2012

Medium wave reception favored lower channels this morning with DU's stations heard as the TP's faded.  Was able to match the live ABC stream to 2CO on 675 with folk music.  Weak signal at best, but two folk songs one by a woman and followed with another folk song by a man helped match the signal to the live stream.  3LO heard under JOUB 774 on the SW ewe at 1153 utc. Not heard latter when other DU's were in. Audio heard 1329 utc on 1701 with woman singing accompanied by piano music, sound like religious music? "Voice of Charity'?

153      RUSSIA, Radio Rossii, 1140-1146 fair
signal with woman in Russian. Good signal at 1218 with Instrumental music.

180 RUSSIA, Radio Rossii, 1220 weak signal on second scan on long-wave band.  Instrumental music.

189      RUSSIA, Radio Rossii, 1148 fair signal
with woman in Russian.

209      ALASKA, weather forecast, fair signal at 1221 with weather for the Juneau International airport.

279 RUSSIA, Radio Rossii, 1149 fair signal
with some static crashes and above program. 1224 poor signal.

567      UNKNOWN, 1253-1255 very weak signal with woman speaker, just to weak to ID language. Heard on both NW & SW ewe antennas.                   Moderate splatter on both antenna. JOIK common TP usually.

594 JAPAN, JOAK NHK1 1201-1210 weak to fair signal at times with man in Japanese. Signal faded out at 1207.

675      AUSTRALIA, 2CO ABC very weak to weak audio at 1304 with woman in English.  Folk music matched ABC live stream. Another                         folk song with man singing at 1308. 1310 back to woman announcer.  SW ewe.

738 TAHITI, Radio Polynesie 1251 weak with woman in French followed by music. SW ewe.

747 JAPAN, JOIB NHK2 1154 weak signal with
man in Japanese and moderate splatter.

774 JAPAN, JOUB NHK2 1153 weak signal with
man in Japanese and moderate splatter. Fair signal at 1212, less splatter on SW                   ewe.

774      AUSTRALIA, 3L0 1214 believed to be the station underneath JOUB on the SW ewe.  Man in English.

828 JAPAN, JOBB NHK2 1247 weak signal with man in Japanese.

891      AUSTRALIA, 1300 very weak signal with woman speaking. Assuming 5AN as 4TAB would have man with horse racing information.

972      REPUBLIC OF KOREA, HLCA 1227 believed to be the station with poor audio at times.

1566 REPUBLIC OF KOREA, HLAZ 1217 weak signal with man in ?

1575     THAILAND, VOA 1237 weak with woman in Asian language.

1701     AUSTRALIA, 1329 very weak to weak signal with piano music. Slight splatter from XEPE as their have faded down. 1331                    switched from SW ewe to Sky wire loop and signal improved to fair at times. Still music with woman singing in                    unknown language. 1336 music ended and woman speaker in unknown language. 1337 more music with woman                              singing. 1638 signal poor. Music sounded like it could be religious.  Maybe "Voice of Charity"? Most mornings                    a level 5 het heard on channel, but XEPE 1700 just to strong.  At 1341 XEPE back with splatter as DU signal                      has faded out.
