Hmmm...those dimensions should give you some decent nulls all across the BCB band. Very weird that you get great LW nulls but poor at high freqs from a KAZ that size.

I'd start by debugging your variable resistance control by replacing it with a fixed resistor. If that results in the same, then perhaps your xfmr is the problem and you could replace with your homemade own.  73 KAZ
