Re: [IRCA] Technical Review: CCrane CCRadio-EP AM/FM AnalogPortable Radio

Hi George,
The EP radio doesn't use anything associated with the Twin Coil Ferrite Antenna in the actual radio--just the reference in its literature that it does. I attempted to point that out in my review and is one of the reasons why I did the review. The Twin Coil Ferrite Antenna works well--I have a couple of them, and have taken one apart in the past and compared it with the patent info. But that antenna concept wasn't used in the EP.

I do like his patent for the twin coil. Very readable and he even goes into the design of his preamp. Going by your description of the radio it sounds
like it uses the circuit in figure 7 so it can use a varactor to tune.
Figure 4 is I guess the more pure version of the antenna circuit with a
variable capacitor. http://www.google.com/patents/about?id=h4EOAAAAEBAJ
