Hello from Bend OR. The topic of listening to the 1400 khz
graveyard channel was interesting. About a year and
a half ago, a group of local radio friends and I decided
to monitor a "Frequency of the Month", the one who
logged the most stations would get a free donut at
our monthly coffee meeting. We picked 1400 one month
and I logged the following from central OR: KLCK Goldendale,
WA (oldies), KJDY John Day, OR (country, local news),
KNND Cottage Grove, OR (talk w/ local programs), KBCH
Lincold City, OR (oldies), KIHH Eureka, CA (religion) and
KQMS Redding, CA (news/talk). I won the free donut,
and we agreed to never pick a GY channel for a frequency
again.

It is truly difficult to pick out any GY ID's at night with the current state of broadcasting. In the morning
or late afternoon, you can pick out the regional
"dominants" that fade in and out and can provide good
listening for an hour or so.
