Re: [IRCA] NF DX 1070 KNX LA etc.

I was curious about wether CBA 1070 in Moncton NB was still on the air because I used to live about 8 miles south east of Moncton back in the sixties and witnessed the relocation of CBA from Sackville NB,(which is the site of the Radio Canada International Antenna farm),to Moncton in the summer of 1968 and was able to watch (after school) the erection of the single 475 foot tower in a field about half a mile from home. After completion of the tower the station signed on as CBA 1070 Moncton New Brunswick ( prevoius ID was CBA Maritimes) . Before the move 1070 from Sackville did not have enough punch to reach Moncton with a local signal from its 50kw  and was weaker than the 10kw 1220 and 5kw 1300 at that time. After the move and sign on 1070 was so strong at my location that our stove elements were vibrating to the CBA modulation and sounded like a set of earphones and I heard somebody joke one day that they could pick it up in their tooth fillings when
they drove past the TX site.I didn't have proof of that but it may well have been true.Bill in BC
