Most likely Algeria but Spain is also a good possibility and Kaz reported many Spaniards last night from his DX Shack in Grafton, WI.  Keep trying and also check 549  for Algeria which is usually stronger than 531 here on the East Coast.

I see that you are from the hometown of John Belushi and journalist/author Bob Woodward!

Strong and loud het against 530khz noted on car radio while driving on west
ide of Joliet this evening around 03:00 UTC.  A few minutes later at home
ith R8A and Quantum loop had strong carrier with just bits of unid audio.
uspect Algeria?  Several other low band hets & carriers also noted.
othing from 1521 or 1134.
