[IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 9-10

Hello All,

Like Dennis and Nick have noted, the Japanese TP's were very strong this
morning, with the NHK "big guns" booming in at times on the low band. 594,
747 and 828 kHz had their best audio of the season, and there was even a
weak UnID Japanese station showing up on 738 kHz (for the first time ever
here) in a mix with a weak Taiwan. 639-CNR1 had its first threshold audio of
the season, and like Nick mentioned, there was also a weak co-channel on 828
under JOBB (apparently Chinese).

This probably would have been a good morning for the inland ULR-DXers to
try receiving some strong Japanese TP's. The following were heard on a
C.Crane SWP Slider model (7.5" loopstick) inductively coupled to a 7.5' sided
PVC tuned passive loop in the back yard:

558 JOCR Kobe, Japan Fair Japanese audio at 1307, but subject to deep
fades
585 JOPG Kushiro, Japan Weak NHK1 program around 1310, //594
594 JOAK Tokyo, Japan Unusually strong with Japanese conversational
program

639 CNR1 Beijing, China (presumed) Threshold audio at 1327; first of
season
648 VOR Razdolnoye, Russia Weak Chinese audio during foreign broadcast,
1312
657 Pyongyang N. Korea The Korean shouting was weaker than usual, 1313
666 JOBK Osaka, Japan Fair to good with NHK2 program at 1315
738 BEL2 Penghu, Taiwan Much weaker than usual this morning with music,
1327.
Maybe the signal was going to Victoria instead?
738 UnID- (Japan) Weak Japanese talk mixing with a weaker BEL2 around
1325--
not Korean (from HKLG). Three commercial stations listed
in Japan, so
no chance to check for an NHK //. First time JJ ever
heard here.
747 JOIB Sapporo, Japan Booming signal, pushing back the KXL splatter
around
                   1317. Best seasonal signal yet

774 JOUB Akita, Japan Strong signal, fighting it out with stronger
Seattle splatter
828 JOBB Osaka Not the strongest NHK signal but without any domestic
splatter;
                  fair-good with NHK2 program over weak co-channel
(apparently Chinese)
                   around 1321 _http://www.mediafire.com/?o1qdpr1oyp1sjbu_
(http://www.mediafire.com/?o1qdpr1oyp1sjbu)
891 JOHK (presumed) Threshold audio with Japanese intonation, 1326
972 HLCA Dangjin, S. Korea Weaker than usual with Korean conversation,
1311
1053 Korean Jammer Intermittent buzzing this morning; not as vibrant as
usual
1053 UnID Like Dennis, I heard music on this frequency at 1313, mixing
with The Jammer
1134 JOQR Tokyo, Japan Fair Japanese conversation and music around 1318
1377 China (presumed) Threshold audio around 1327; faded quickly
1566 HLAZ Jeju, S. Korea Good signal with Japanese religious program,
1300-1330
1575 VOA Ban Rassom, Thailand Fair-good with Asiatic language program,
1315

Hopefully the Masset DXpedition team (Walt, Guy and the others) can give a
listen to 738 kHz on their Perseus captures later this month, and see which
one of the Japanese is showing up here. Taiwan usually has 738 kHz sown
up here during the TP season (for some bizarre reason), making it tough for
the other TP's to sneak in.

73 and Good DX,
Gary DeBock
