Been a while since I've had anything useful to contribute. The noise level here has become horrendous. Even so, I try DXing from time to time.

As many of you know, I have been in real estate for years now. I am selling a home in San Leandro and the owner, who is 86, collected tube radios. Many of them are console sets from the '30s. I bought one from him, a Zenith, from 1938. Plays beautifully. AM and SW. I have it in my living room now. A beautiful piece of furniture and it's cool to listen to KFRC-1550 on it.

This Saturday, his family are having a garage sale, and the remaining radios in his collection are up for sale. This will be the only garage sale, as the house will close escrow next Monday. So everything will be out of the house by Sunday night.

I am sorry for the short notice, but I'm just the Realtor... and this is mainly interesting for anyone within driving distance of the San Francisco area, but if you are interested in seeing them and maybe purchasing one, this is the time. He's priced them well... I would buy more but my wife and I came to an understanding of how much radio stuff I can collect.

If anyone is interested, send me a message. I have some jpgs of the radios. There are: another big Zenith, a Philco, a GE, a Radiola, a Stromberg-Carlson, and some table (tombstone-style) radios too. One is a Philco. I don't remember what the others are.

The sale is this Saturday, from 8 to noon, at 2424 Sitka Street, San Leandro. I will be there too. Ralph, the owner, may be there if health permits, and possibly his neighbor, who worked for PG&E (the electrical utility) as a telecommunications engineer, and restored most of them, may be there too.

Wish I had more time to devote to club activity. It was a great experience doing the bulletin from 2001-2003. I hope we find someone to take over from Phil. We should have a super award for all of his efforts over the years, seriously!

Thanks!
