[IRCA] TP's for May 4

Got ambitious this morning, though not as ambitious as Dennis: I didn't hit the dials until 1210UT. In spite of the Westport report, things really weren't too bad here for this time of year. A brief peak of Asiatics, followed by a brief peak of DU's, with the party over shortly after 1240UT.

pretty darn good audio (at least briefly): none

reasonable audios (though often battling w/splash): 2BL -702, the first of the DU's to make an appearance, and peaked before the others

not so reasonable audio, occasional words in splash or noise: 612 later (//702, so 4QR), 747 // 774 (NHK2), 1539 (!! instrumental mx, think it must have been DU judging by it being around 1230UT, but direction finding was not easy this morning, no strong nulls on the loop), 4QD-1548.

Burbles in the splatter and noise: 567 (seemed DU, but couldn't get a //702), 594 (seemed Japanese by inflection of talk), 675(seemed DU), 738 likely 2NR, but big carrier, so maybe Tahiti too?, 828 (NHK2 //774), 1287 (Japanese I think, but no DF as mentioned above), 1386, also no DF, talk didn't seem English, but no NHK2 parallels available, 1512 seemed DU, 1566 with the usual big carrier, and likely HLAZ, as stronger after 1230UT.

Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter): 1475, 1575 (should have been even earlier if I wanted to hear Thailand, I guess)

As usual for the last number of weeks, signals were quite erratic in strength; without the SDR14 and the "DX Fishbarrel" program (described in a DX Monitor near you), many of these would have been missed, I'm sure.

best wishes,

Nick
