Re: [IRCA] Update on WGN IBOC interference

I would like to add something to my previous post..

In many cases, skywave interference near sunrise and sunset has been
regulated. This is called Critical Hours power. Often it'a rather small
fraction of the mid-day power. 1800w down to 1kw, or 10kw down to 2.5kw as
a couple of examples that come to mind. IBOC carriers should also have to
follow this guideline. When an allocation study requires it, full IBOC
power should not be allowed until two hours after sunrise, and lowered two
hours before sunset. The lower of the two powers, depending on the
allocation, should be the limit for both sidebands.

All this is just more evidence as to why AM IBOC should never have been
permitted, and why it will cause irreparable harm if allowed to continue.
Were I KDKA or WYSL, I would not be looking forward to December when the WBZ
IBOC will come barreling in during their drive times. It will certainly
have an effect on their listenership and their bottom line. Sad..
