Re: [IRCA] Some real live amateur radio clubs

Bert, I bought the dipole from Dx Engineering

http://www.dxengineering.com/Parts.asp?ID=883&PLID=160&SecID=78&DeptID=40&PartNo=DXE%2DWA%2D260

I also got the 1:1 balun that goes with it, it was a royal PIA to get it up considering my back yard looks like a jungle at this point. I spent a lot of money on this stuff, I also bought a Heathkit 2060 tuner which are not cheap either and a Marconi dummy load which was a bargain.
I just fired it up and am going to see what's on right now at 11:30 ET,

Bob,

I think we are! I was going to build an 80m Dipole today and put it up, but the rains came. However, I'm really not complaining. Areas of my yard were starting to look like the desert southwest.

My Equipment is set to arrive Monday from UPS, but we're also set to go to the Atlanta Zoo that day. Maybe I'll be able to throw somewire up in a tree for the night and get on the air. Perhaps Sunday will be dry and I'll be able to put up the antenna I planned to put up today.

I wish I had room for a 160m Dipole. I would love to be able to talk there. I listen there sometimes and it sounds really nice and friendly. I hope my 80m Dipole will tune there as well as everywhere else for that matter. I plan to be active from 160m to 6m.

We'll have to schedule a QSO at some point. I'll bet we could get everyone together from all of the MW Lists and set something up. Does anyone use HF to talk about conditions on MW. Maybe we'll have to try that some day. You and I are both Generals so we'll have to convince the Extras to drop down to our level and talk with us.

Give me a yell the next time you're on the air and I'll give you listen on the DRAKE. I'll be able to give you a Reception Report through e-mail.

P.S. Tell me about the 160m Dipole you have.

Hi Bert,

You and I must be in the same zone or something, I finally got my 160M dipole up with antenna tuner etc, and finally got on the air last night for the first time, no QSO's but I didn't have much time (had to work early today) and didn't want to break up a net that was in process. I heard someone calling CQ on 1885 AM and I tried to answer him but forgot to switch my transmitter from CW to mic until it was too late. I'm going to try again tonight either on 160 or 75 meters AM. I bought a SS transmitter but haven't got that one set up yet, it's a Heathkit HW-101 80-10 M, maybe we can set up a net some night, all the IRCA hams,

Hi everyone,

Ok, I'm kinda bored tonight. Here's some real live
amateur radio clubs, some of which actually pertain to
the MW band:

KF6ULI Art Bell Fans ARC

K3VOA Voice of America (Charles, can we join???)

K7RAT Boring ARC, in Boring Oregon (How far are they
from Seaside???)

K6DOA Toe Tag RAC, Los Angeles Dept of Coroner ('nuff
said)

Happy Memorial Day
