You are in a very good position to test a theory I've had.  Given that fresh
water is not a good conductor of electricity, I've felt that laying an
insulated wire on the bottom of a shallow pond would work as well as on a
dry field.  Being underwater, it certainly wouldn't get trampled.

If you do run a wire through the pond, I'd be quite curious to see how it
does.

It sounds like an amazing home.  Congrats!
