Thanks. I knew how a Top Hat worked, but I was wondering how signal
levels would be comparing the tower at 100 feet higher. I'll bet a
taller tower would work better. Of course KFI probably would cover a lot
better if they moved to a location not surrounded by metai buildings.
Being surrounded like that can't their coverage at all. Alan Roycroft in
Hawaii told me that alot of the Honolulu stations have that same
problem. If KFI moved out a bit East and put in a good full frequency
tower and put in a new ground system, they would probably increase their
coverage a lot. But it would cost plenty I am sure in today's world.
Would the benefits outweigh the coast. Probably not. Especially in this
day that so many stations could not care less about extended coverage.
At least that is what I hear.
