Marty, you may indeed have heard multiple transmitters on the same frequency.  This is common, although it's more unusual to actually hear two stations in audio at the same time.  The usual strong stations don't vary their modulation at all....anything different you hear is due to differences in ionospheric propagation.  The audio this morning was nothing like a week ago for sure............Walt Salmaniw, Victoria.
