Not too bad of a morning. Although I should have gotten up a bit
earlier. But a few things of interest.
531 NEW ZEALAND, Auckland 1XPI, woman talking about Auckland at 1305
o/unid mx (2PM?) 8/12 (PM-OR)
540 AUSTRALIA, Longreach 4QL, presume the sourse of the ABC News at
1301 //630 8/12, over UNID rock station. (PM-OR)
540 UNID station playing "I'm A Man" by Chicago, followed by
US type ancr, but soon lost to 4QL and others at 1250 8/12. At another
check at 1259, just 4QL and KVIP. (PM-OR)
549 AUSTRALIA, Orange 2CR, presume the ABC news at 1302 8/12, lots of
KMVI/KOAC splash. (PM-OR)
558 UNID, inst mx at 1352 8/12 in passing. (PM-OR)
567 NEW ZEALAND, Wellington 2YA with man talking in passing 1258
8/12 (PM-OR)
576 AUSTRALIA, Sydney 2RN //792 with Jazz mx at 1306 8/12 (PM-OR)
585 UNID, talk here in passing with Aussie accent 1304 8/12. (PM-OR)
594 JAPAN, Tokyo JOAK, fair with man in JJ at 1307 8/12. (PM-OR)
630 AUSTRALIA, Townsville, 4QN, totally armchair copy for a while
over KCIS with Weather for Northern Queensland, IDs for ABC 2, promos.
Very good at 1307 8/12. This one can hold its own over domestics here on
the coast well. They must have a great tx site. (PM-OR)
648 UNID, Rock mx at 1245 with US ancr 8/12. AFN Okinawa? (PM-OR)
693 JAPAN, Tokyo JOAB, fair with woman in JJ at 1352 8/12 (PM-OR)
702 AUSTRALIA, Sydney 2BL, good with ABC News at 1301 8/12 (PM-OR)
720 HAWAII, Eleele, KUAI, very nice Hawaiian pop mx singing about the
Hawaiian Islands at 1248 8/12. After 1300, KFIR s/on, ruining the
signal. Then it was a mix. (PM-OR)
774 JAPAN, Akita JOUB good with man in JJ at 1310 8/12 (PM-OR)
792 AUSTRALIA, Brisbane 4RN //576
1306 Jazz mx 8/12 (PM-OR)
801 UNID, weak station with talk, buried in splat at 1257 8/12

891 UNID, mix of at least 3 stations here. Two with news (presumed)
and one with mx, plus there might have been others in the background at
1302 8/12. Too garbled to understand much, but it was interesting to
note so much traffic on 891. Prob Australia/New Zealand, at least.

1503 AUSTRALIA? Aussie accented station here at 1314 8/12, but too
fadey to make out much. (PM-OR)
A few things of interest this morning, so DX is on the increase. The
best I have heard in sometime.
