[IRCA] TP 14 Oct Victoria version.

A bit more Asia and Australia this morning, with better signal strengths, but it wasn't too outstanding.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

594 JOAK man in Japanese 1406UT. This transmitter seems to have a "brighter" sound compared with other NHK1 transmitters; I don't think it's just that it's generally stronger.

747 JOIB man in Portuguese 1402UT

774 JOUB man in Portuguese 1401UT

828 JOBB interlude music at end of Portuguese program 1415UT //747

972 HLCA two men in Korean 1354UT

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

576 2RN man in DU English 1353UT

603 HLSA female ballad //558 1411UT

612 4QR woman DU Englishg 1420UT

693 JOAB man and woman in Japanese //747 1416UT

702 2BL phone in program with female host, 1351UT //612 which was very weak at this time

873 JOGB woman in Japanese 1415UT //774

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

567 RNZ National woman talking //675 1408UT

657 Star; ballad //909 1355UT

675 RNZ National jazz vibes solo //567 1350UT

1287 JOHR woman in Japanese 1419UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

558 HLQH female ballad //603 1411UT

567 JOIK party time in NHK studios //594 1351UT

702 NHK2 woman talking //693 1408UT

738 2NR woman talking //612 1358UT; someone else there also...

819 operatic chorus 1410UT, N. Korea likely

864 man talking, Korean intonation 1405UT

909 Star; male ballad 1354UT; ID'd next minute //657

945 CNR1 messy, but CNR1 news sounder noted, then man talking, Chinese intonation 1403UT

963 CRI woman talking //1323 1409UT

1017 man talking, better on west Flag 1420UT, Tonga?

1134 woman and man talking Korean? 1359UT; 2 and 1 pips on the hour, so not JOQR

1323 CRI woman talking //963 1409UT

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)

639 711  891 918 1098  1143  1179  1206 1242  1566 seemed to be Asian;
837 846 855 1008 1098 1458 seemed to be DU

best wishes,

Nick
