[IRCA] TP 24 Feb Victoria version

A bit of a sleeper of a morning, in a couple of senses. Domestic splatter was fairly somnolent, and, as a result, weak signals were able to deliver audio, rather unexpectedly. The liveliest time was for the 20 minutes or so before local sunrise, which is just after 1500UT here right now.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

594 JOAK man in Japanese 1509UT
774 JOUB man in Japanese as 828 1438UT
828 JOBB man in Japanese, sounding quietly rhetorical 1435UT

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

747 JOIB woman in Portuguese //774 1445UT
873 JOGB man in Portuguese 1444UT
1566 HLAZ man in Chinese 1500UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

531 unID this was quite weak but fairly clear in spots, woman on phone, then man saying in DU English "thank you very much for your call this evening" then maybe a phone number ending in "94"? which doesn't match with anything in a quick search. 1443UT
666 JOBK man talking //594 briefly at this level
693 JOAB man in Japanese //774 1432UT
972 HLCA man in Korean 1503-4UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

612 4QR woman talking, ABC fanfare, then ABC news (sounded like) by man
738 woman talking, Chinese intonation 1451UT; at 1444UT, light instrumental music similar to what was heard on 1143;likely Taiwan
891 JOHK man talking //594 1501UT
909 JOCB man talking //774 1448UT
954 man and woman talking, Japanese intonation 1430UT
1053 man and woman talking quickly, Japanese intonation 1440UT
1098 woman talking briskly, Chinese intonation 1449UT
1134 man talking, Korean intonation? 1454UT
1143 pop vocal music 1443UT, possibly Taiwan but couldn't bring up parallel on 738 at the same time.
1179 two women talking Japanese intonation 1434UT
1242 JOLF cuckoo pips, man talking 1500UT

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)
558 567 585 603 729 864 1008 1107 1269 1278 1287 1314 1332 1422  1503 1575  1593 seemed to be Asian;
    576 702 846 1017 1611 seemed to be DU

best wishes,

Nick
