Re: [IRCA] NPR and IBOC

Eric,

Sorry, but I couldn't disagree more.

To take businesses away from companies and turn them over to the state is as far from "Americanism" as you can get.  That notion has nothing to do with the good or bad of IBOC, it is socialism.

The markets will decide, maybe not to your liking, but most importantly, not by government edict or to silence one political segment in favor of another. If everything you say were true, then in a capitalistic system, what you suggest would come to pass as the obvious best business decision, and that is the bottom line.

Curt, this is NOT SOCIALISM...this is Americanism. Community-oriented broadcasters are what's needed in radio, not this corporate-controlled, dumbed-down and low-quality crap that passes for "programming" these days. Corporate control of our media is the real feat of social engineering; brainwashing the populace to believe the "truth" as purported by Rupert Murdoch, Lowry Mays or even Pat Robertson, when local broadcasters can do a far better job at a much lower cost, without using satellites, illegal voicetracking or airing wall-to-wall extreme right-wing wackos like Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh.

IBOC is a major threat to broadcasting...it will eliminate 99% of our nation's radio stations.
