Mike, perhaps I am not understanding what is meant by "relaying".

I am using the word in the narrow sense, to mean that they
are carrying a full program feed originating at another station,
and sending it out from their own station at the same time.
An example, somewhat dated by now, would be WJNO-1230
Palm Beach, and WJNX-1330 Fort Pierce, FL. In this case,
the 1230 sent their audio by phone line to the 1330 who
simultaneously rebroadcast it. Probably with tone-cued avails
for a local ID to be cut in every hour, or else they just originate a
dual ID. (This example is no longer valid, actually, but many
others exist today).

In the case of 970 and 540, now, they do carry at the same time
a program coming from some third point, e.g. Limbaugh & Noory.
I would call that running in parallel, but not relaying. The Am and PM
drive shows are different, each is locally produced.

I say all this because I do not know of a single case of any other
AM "relaying" WFLA. All they do is to both use, at random and
diverse times, the same "call letters". I know that 1270 in
Tallahassee has also called themselves "WFLA" except for
the hourly ID. I have already said that 1450 Sarasota has
STOPPED relaying 970, which they did for a while.

I listen to WFLA often and they never mention any other
station. They used to run a promo every hour at :50 about
catching WFLA on 1450 when south of the Skyway. That has
gone away as well.

Can you share some info on what details you found about
the relaying you mentioned?

Tnx, - Bob
