[HCDX] a few foreign logs

Warm greetings to all of you !

Two things: first of all, I moved back to Pierrefonds for the NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS and secondly, I saw last night the Pirate Radio movie... The characters were much more original and less robotical than those of Hollywood and the topic was as original as it could be... Wow !

Trans-Atlantic DX

183 GERMANY   Europe 1, Felsberg NOV 21 0503 - French politics noted in passing while trying succesfully for Iceland-189 and unsuccesfully for Morocco-171. (Chiochiu-PierrefondsQC)

189 ICELAND   Rikisútvarpid, Gufuskalar NOV 21 0536 - playing a very beautiful 80s Icelandic melodic new wave track followed by an instrumental Techno-Dance cover version. Very good, almost excellent ! I didn't listened it on the Sangean or I would had airchecked it ! SINPO 45454. (Chiochiu-PierrefondsQC)

198 ENGLAND   BBC Radio 4, Droitwhich NOV 19 2255 - Man with news about something happening overnight. Poor and barely readable, but always nice to hear ! (Chiochiu-HochelagaMaisonneuveQC)

252 ALGERIA   Alger Chaîne 3, Tipaza NOV 19 2232 - Arabic dance music over Ireland and the NDBs (non-directional navigational beacons for the non-DXers reading this). Fair ! (Chiochiu-HochelagaMaisonneuveQC)

585 SPAIN   Radio Nacional de España, Madrid NOV 21 0455 - Man in Spanish discussing the topic of several Spaniard soccer teams. Fairly good through an annoying computer growl with very slight adjacent channel splatter ! SINPO 34232-1 as the computer growl was really bothersome ! (Chiochiu-PierrefondsQC)





Pan-American DX

550 VENEZUELA   YVKE, Mundial, Caracas, Distrito Federal NOV 20 0650 - program of trad. YV mx (an even mix of gaitas and música llanera) with woman host. ID around 0659 GMT as "Y-V-K-E Mundial" with Y pronounced "Jie" instead of "I Griega" as usually done by YVs and even by this station. Slowly fading from poor to good and back-up and topping semi-local WEVD Waterbury and semi-regular WGR Buffalo, but the QRM underneath YVKE was still quite bothersome for a non-DXer. Therefore, I will write SINPO 42532 ! 2nd time in 2009-2010 yet ! This is the third easiest YV after YVKS-750 and YVNM-780, but lousy conditions toward South America makes it a poor third - hi ! 640 CUBA   CMBC, Radio Progreso, Guanabacoa NOV 20 0635 - Adult Contemporary music program with woman host. Good in an almost graveyard-like jumble with two domestics and perphaps a second Latin. The strongest station on this channel was AM 640 Toronto. (Chiochiu-PierrefondsQC)

780 VENEZUELA   YVNM, Radio Coro, Coro, Falcón NOV no time - easily heard in a tight WBBM null at both the Hochelaga Maisonneuve and Pierrefonds QTHs the past week. However, at the Hochelaga Maisonneuve, I had a buzz popping up 1 minute out of two ruining what was otherwise a semi-local like signal ! In the meantime, you can always hear them streaming on the web, waiting for them to fade in as the sun sets ! http://200.6.157.20:8034/listen.pls is the first step for your WiFi log on ABDX ! Additional comments:

If any of you wants to exchange with me airchecks of French, Belgian, Romanian, French Caribbean, Pan American, American and Canadian dance or AOR stations from the 70s, 80s and EARLY 90s, please let me know ! Aventure FM and MaXXimum are my favorites though ! We're trying to figure out how to make WAV and MP3 files for once again sharing them with many digital airchecks collectors ! We may be using the computer downstairs, down in the basement, for that purpose !

The WiFi of my friend broke two weeks ago, but the temptation is lower... I now think AM Stereo is a bigger challenge than WiFi listening... That being said, the Meducci AM Stereo tuner seems to be gone ! What would be the next step if I want to DX X-band AM Stereo signals ? http://meduci.com/amx2000.html ! Has KCJJ-1630 reduced power ? When I tried to get it the last night (in Mono), I got nothing between CJWI-1610 and CJRS-1650 !
