conclusion of A Voz do Brasil, canned station ID just after the top of
the hour into live sports coverage. (Jordan-TN)
** EQUATORIAL GUINEA. R. Malabo, Malabo, 6250, July 22, *0514 - back to
back African pop, hi-life vocals. Occasional Radio Nacional ID's and
chatter by male in Spanish until news beginning at 0605 UTC. (Jordan-TN)
** ERITREA. Voice of the Broad Masses of Eritrea, Asmara, 7165, July 22,
0344 - open carrier until possible interval signal beginning at 0354
UTC. Female in Arabic with ID, frequency announcements and greetings.
Male speaker with possible news. White noise type jamming began at 0359
UTC. Off at 0431 UTC. (Jordan-TN)
** ETHIOPIA. Radio Ethiopia, Geja Jawe, 7110, July 22, 0340 - listed
Amharic, magazine-type format interspaced with excellent vocals.
Interval signal at 0359, 3 church bells at the top of the hour and usual
"Ityoppya Radio" ID by woman. Fair signal at tune in and slowly fading,
occasional ARO QRM. (Jordan-TN)
Radio Ethiopia, Geja Jawe, 7110, July 23, *0258 - On with interval
signal, 3 bells at the top of the hour, ID by woman into news. // much
weaker nominal 5990v, except *0254 with OC until 0258. 5989.42 kHz
drifting upwards to 5989.46 kHz by 0305 UTC tune out. (Jordan-TN)
** GUINEA. (presumed) R. Conakry, Conakry, 7125, July 22, 2300-0020* -
good carrier signal, but almost non-existent modulation. Occasional
barely threshold audio, male speaking in what sounded to be French. Off
at 0020 UTC. (Jordan-TN)
** ISRAEL. Galei Zahel, Lod, 6974.9v, July 22, 2300 - after many months
of being relatively stable on 6973.0 kHz, I noticed them this week on a
much higher frequency and drifting. Noted 2300 UTC 7/22 on 6974.94 kHz,
drifting slowly downward. A re-check 4 hours later at 0300 UTC noted
them on 6974.90 kHz. (Jordan-TN)
** SUDAN. Radio Sudan, Khartoum, 7200, July 22, 0340 - excellent signal,
tune in to a nice traditional vocal with lute accompaniment then Arabic
male and female speaker with magazine format type content with short
musical bridges. Time pips at the top of the hour, ID then news read by
male. Transmitter suddenly cut-off at 0429 and not returning until 0528,
at which time with the signal was poor. Intermittent but significant ARO
SSB QRM. (Jordan-TN)
Radio Sudan, Khartoum, 7200, July 22, *0238 - on with Koranic
recitations lasting until 0248 UTC. Male speaker in Arabic with brief
announcements, including what sure sounded like a mention of "Radio
Sudan". Into local a cappella singing/chanting by males. (Jordan-TN)
** TUNISIA. RTV Tunisienne, Sfax, 7275, July 22, *0358 - open carrier
until the sign-on announcement at 0358 by a female speaker in Arabic.
Traditional vocal until the top of the hour, then news bulletin read by
a male speaker. (Jordan-TN)
** WESTERN SAHARA [non]. R. Nacional de la RASD, 6300, July 22, *0600 -
transmitter on at 0550 with OC until National Anthem at the top of the
hour, into Koranic recitations. Fair signal. (Jordan-TN)
