Radio Progresso 890 Heard in Laramie, WY  View Printable Version
Wednesday, August 19 2020

HCDX
Here's Radio Progreso, 200KW on 890khz from Tuesday August 18th at 841pm
mountain time here in Laramie, WY. Audio is reduced to 3khz to get away
from KRVN 880 splatter a bit. You can hear Mark Levin chattering away under
it a tiny bit in spots, WLS is usually very dominant and loud here on 890.

Checking at 0600 via multiple Florida receivers I could see two
carriers: strong 710.996 and much weaker 711.000 kHz.

we have now winter conditions downunder,
a lot of African MW stations could be received easily
in past week here in central Europe.

see also mediumwave station locations south of

When nearby 621 kHz from Canary Islands
could be heard easily in North America,
why not the 711 kHz Moroccon transmission too ?

Right 3 kilometers distance to the Atlantic Ocean coastline.

Maybe SNRT antenna is too directional in El Aaiún. But I don't know
how it

is behaving in practice.
I also have no idea if the EMWG data is valid or not today.

In the former Euro-African Medium Wave Guide (EMWG), the following data
were:

711 kHz:
  AOE - SNRT Al-Idaâ al-Amazighia (El-Aaiún), El Aaiún (300, directional
180°) - 24h in Tamazight (Berber), Tachelhit, Rifain, Arabic exc. when
local programmes are on air: Mo-Th 1800-1900 Arabic, Fr 1800-2300
Arabic, Sat 0000-0200 Arabic, Sat 1800-2300 Arabic, Sun 1000-1300
Arabic, Sun 1800-0200 Arabic; relay of SNRT El-Aaiún: Fr-Sa 2200-2300
Arabic; Mon 0900-1300 Rabat programme; local ID "Maghribiyya
Laayoune"; very low audio - offset frequency of 710.9970 kHz

Why not 711 kHz 300 kW Morocco SNRT National Net Laayoune ?

CUBA [and non]. 711.0, Aug 17 at 0602, JBA het presumably one of
the Radios Rebeldes knocked off-frequency again like a few months ago.
Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba. Too weak to get DF on it, but
the only TA carrier this late is 621 presumed Canary Islands.
