Glenn Hauser logs March 24-25, 2020 |
|
Wednesday, March 25 2020
** ALBANIA [non]. 5800 // 9395, UT Wed Mar 25 tune in WRMIs at 0140, nothing but songs in unID language, Tirana as usual? Not for sure until 0159 a few notes of IS before RMI ID and onward. See also USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** ARGENTINA [non]. 9395, UT Wed Mar 25 at 0100, RAE ATTW English relay via WRMI, opening a ``new edition via WRMI 9395 at 2 AM [sic]`` --- but subject is conductor Daniel Barenboim as one of ten legendary Argentines (well, at least born there), same evergreen edition we heard last week; only wish I had time to listen to it straight thru. RAE has supposedly closed down for COVID-19 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15370, March 24 at 1858, RHC is S9+20/10 of dead air; next check 1952 is musicking. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15140, March 24 at 1900, RHC opening English, first broadcast of day, and as always this transmitter-frequency is awfully distorted. Don`t they notice or care? Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11880, Tue Mar 24 at 2330, RHC English with `DXers Unlimited` underway, Arnie talking about QRP antennas; mentions he [CO2-kaka] tried one with 4 watts on 14060-CW and made 3 contacts. His speech is fairly readable today, but MEGO subject matter of no interest here. Wraps up at 2338. 11880 is becoming reliable so I will not remark ``SAWA`` this time (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11850, March 24 at 2330, RHC is JBM with music // 11760, 11700, and distorted 11670; plus and minus the 11850 JBA spur carriers on 11840 & 11860. Something`s always wrong at RHC. 11950 is also on with separate Mesa Redonda TV soundtrack, S9+20 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TAIWAN [non]. 5800, UT Wed Mar 25 at 0100, RTI relay test via WRMI is *still* running in Spanish, and handily announces the original date in the opening, ``miércoles 18 de marzo``, so here`s another auto-repeating a week-old file. 9395 // 7780 // 5010, UT Wed Mar 25 at 0200, RTI Spanish yet again (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960, March 24 at 2347, VOT English to N America was on today! By now in post-IS loop, S9/+10 but noisy. Pause at 2356 restarting loop about to lead-in to German, but shortly cut off* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9455, March 24 at 1853, TOMBS on WRMI is S9-S7, NVG but much stronger than JBA carrier 9395. Both are on the same azimuth 355 degrees, same antenna type 805 in HFCC, and same power 100 kW. How can this be? Something`s unequal. Rated powers of SW stations are just that --- doesn`t mean they are really running anywhere near that level. Propagation is pitiful today so even the Superstation on 9330 is a JBA carrier, leaving 9455 as the SSOB! Yet at 18z WWV reports K index 0, solar flux 70, no storms past or future (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Pro-forma search of all possible WRMI frequencies, March 24 at 2154, finds no sign of WORLD OF RADIO, despite System B scheduling for Tuesday 2130 but with no frequencies shown. The 21-22 hour for this and many other imaginary programs has been on the grid for many months. WRMIs are either inaudible/off, JBA carriers, or emanating something else (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WRMI survey 0100-0300 UT Wed Mar 25; see also ALBANIA, ARGENTINA, TAIWAN: 0100: 5010 // distorted 5850, 0103 BB ID and rockified `Joy to the World`! 7780, La Rosa de Tokio repeat about AWR 0140: 5010 // distorted 5850, Mideast music, so World? 7780, JBA, still LRT 9455, Hal Turner 9955, gospel huxter in English 0200: 5800, music of some sort 5850, different music, ME/World, distorted 9955, R. Praga, Spanish 0230: 5010 & 5800 now off 5850 // 9395, Slovakia in English 7780, Ukraine in English, VG at a NY state SDR 9455, music of some sort VG 9955, no signal, off? ought to be algo with 9395, 9455 arriving. I`ve notified WRMI about the distortion on 5850 tonight and last night and they were looking into it (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1539.96 approx., March 25 at 0035 UT, low audible het stix out vs KXEL 1540.00 et al., no doubt KGBC Galveston TX. Splitting with LSB tuning, I think the classic rock I hear is coming from it while KXEL talx (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, March 25 at 0040-0053 UT, right across our LSS at 0047; starting at top end, as I have just got the KGBC het below 1540. 1584, 1575, 1539, 1521, 1511.99, 1503(2), 1485, 1467, 1458, 1431, 1422, 1305(2), 1296, 1215, 1179, 1107(2), 1053, 999, 936, 891, 882, 855(2), 837, 801, 774(3?), 747, 729, 711*, 693, 684+, 621 --- but none lower this close to sunset. Note 1521 where Saudi presumably still closes at 2230? Maybe it`s East Turkistan instead. First one, TA tipping me off was 1512, and I tried to measure it as a possible domestic spur. Lowest off-frequency in mwoffsetts is the megawatt Saudi at Jeddah on .992 or .993. Big het from 711 is by far the strongest, but not much modulation, at 0051, nor any timesignal audible at 0100. 300 kW from Morocco most likely; also hi powers in Egypt, Iran, and Spain has 25 kW (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0517 UT March 25 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

|
Tuesday, March 24 2020
** ALASKA. 11755, March 24 at 1515, praise song in English, 1517 Russian announcement from KNLS, fairly holding its own against slightly stronger 11760 RHC; still at 1556+ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 13780, March 24 at 1512, RHC still on in dead air, while 13700 is still modulating; no spurs at all. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ITALY [non]. 7295, March 23 circa 1845, end of the detestable Steve Bannon`s `War Room Pandemic` via IRRS, expecting a second hour which is not aired here; music fill until 1859 IRRS ID explaining that its transmissions are in ``compatible USB``, so best reception by USB tuning. This is NOT the case via current Romania (or Bulgaria?), but may have been years ago when they were really out of Milano! The only reason now to choose USB or LSB on these full DSB/AM transmissions is to avoid adjacent channel interference from the opposite side; of which there is plenty. All this via UTwente SDR. Even 7290 has splatter from 7280 - Vietnam listed, not 7285, as IRRS immediately jumped down to 7290 at 1900 for WORLD OF RADIO this Monday, socially distant 5 kHz from 7295 CRI Urumqi, East Turkistan, land of brainwashing Uighurs. Note: from next week in A-20, different situation with IRRS shows one UT hour earlier. Registered to jump from 7295 to 7290 at 1800, whatever the adjacents may then be (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TAIWAN [non]. 5800, UT Tue March 24 at 0100, WRMI still replaying RTI relay test in Spanish, this one about the CV. 7780, UT Tue March 24 at 0200, WRMI replaying RTI Spanish relay test dated March 17, automatically from one week ago rather than restoring automation to previous whatever. See USA for another survey of what WRMI is really airing these hours on other frequencies (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2026 monitoring: Confirmed Monday March 23 at 1900+ on IRRS 7290, after a few FSN headlines, VG via UTwente SDR, just jumped down from 7295. Note: from next week WOR to be at 1800 instead on 7290. Also confirmed UT Tuesday March 24 at 0100 on WRMI 7780. Next: 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. See also TAIWAN [non]. Survey of what`s really on WRMI in the 01-03 period UT Tue Mar 24; I hope I`ve got this all right from my convoluted scribbled notes; using direct or various remotes as needed. I ignore 5950 presumed SMTV; 7570 & 7730 presumed TOMBS: 0100: 5010 // 5850, Robobibling in Spanish, Alameda Bible Fellowship (why in the world are they doing this? The entire Bible is available read and recorded by human beings, which ought to be more effective. Maybe God is really a robot? Or at least more relatable to inhumans) 5800, RTI Spanish test repeat from a week ago 7780, WORLD OF RADIO 2026 9395, RAE in English; presumably old show as closed down by CV 0130: 5010 // 5850, Wavescan 5800 // 9395, Radio Tirana 7780, ``pilot episode`` of new show! Missed name, music. Not WS. 9455, ``God Bless America`` music break in Hal Turner`s favorite rendition 0200: 5010, 5800, nothing audible at Alexandria VA, off 5850, music in Spanish; then distorted, similar to 7780 & 9395, not synchronized? 7780, another repeat of RTI Spanish March 17 test; music // 9395 at 0225 9955, Radio Praga, Spanish 0230: 5850, Slovakia in English, very distorted; // 9395 not distorted 7780, Ukraine in English 9455, rock music, oldies? 9955, Slovakia in Spanish (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 4840, March 24 at 0612, S9+30 of dead air from WWCR instead of TOMBS, but still modulating on 3215; 5935 DGS at S4-S9. 5890 not on air, nor should it be (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1736 UT March 24 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
