Logs
** CANADA. 300 MCW kHz, Dec 2 at 0748 UT, dash and YIV, 500-watt ND
beacon at Island Lake, MB - so one more Canadian not yet
decommissioned (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 6180, Dec 2 at 0238, huge S9+30/40 dead air in
Mandarin from CRI via Quivicán, but JBA Spanish underneath, i.e. La
Voz Alegre, MWV MADAGASCAR, an incredible example of frequency
mismanagement. If one didn`t know about this, might think it were JBM
in Spanish only from RadioCuba, where something`s always wrong (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. 1050 kHz, Dec 2 at 0730, song with refrain to the tune of
``Yes, we have no bananas``, word sounds like ``Vibanana`` which could
also be interpreted as ``Viva Nana``, on XEG ``La Ranchera de
Monterrey`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 267 MCW kHz, Dec 2 at 0747, HET, ND beacon at Henryetta,
ID barely copiable, and better if tuned to 265.5 USB, as off-tuning is
sometimes the key (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 1670.05 approx., Dec 2 at 2011 UT, JBA carrier direct to
home rx; after 2115 I return to the US 81/412 intersexion where I
first had good signal a biday ago from Virtual DJ Radio - and there
it is again, apparently a different DJ, as per the website they have a
large roster of them - the deal being that once installing some
software, anyone can play DJ without having to get a job at a real
radio station. With the DX-398 in hand, I DF it at first as definitely
NE/SW, then driving back and forth and around, it seems to be more
westerly than easterly, but with lots of noise in various blox, do not
manage to get a  direxional fix on it from a different angle. And
driving around the busiest intersexion at rush hour and with low sun
in eyes is not a good idea. Maybe if it`s not too cold some midday
with plenty of time, I`ll pursue it afoot (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ROMANIA [and non]. 7220, Dec 2 at 2302, RRI English is almost
sufficient with USB tuning vs a ham on 7220 LSB, who sounds oblivious
to all the QRoM he`s getting. In this case RRI is not an intruder as
it`s aimed away from the Americas (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Dec 2 at 2230, REE NAm frequency is off again, while
the other three remain, 12030, 17715, 17755. At 2300, 12030 backwards
for ME is S9+10/20 direct but insufficient vs same local noise level.
At 2317 into UTwente, 12030.001- is JBA S6/S7. Finally try Maryland
SDR, where it is sufficient S6/S8 vs lower noise level there, in some
medical discussion (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 9610, Sun Dec 1 at 2130-2145+, NO VOT signal into
UTwente, likely off the air instead of toward S Asia.

5960.003, Sun Dec 1 at 2259, VOT not off the air, IS and English ID,
S9+30/40 into UTwente, s/on as if 1330 on 13635, something`s always
awry at Ankara, and into olds. 2313 ending `Weekly Analysis`, 2314
`Letterbox` with another host, sounds much like Halil, but a guy who
says he last did it in 2008y. Could I understand his name? Or course
not. 1) Vilnius, Lithuania, someone wants to know if VOT has or will
test DRM. No answer yet from engineering dept, at least host did a
little research, but there was a DAB test from Istanbul in 2021 [i.e.
VHF not HF]. 2) Harald Süss, Austria, with three follow-ups for QSLs;
I notice the 6CI underneath. 2318 break for song, why? Relief from not
much talk? 2322, 3) Siddartha ---, wants lotsa swag, but politely
refused due to ``problems with acquisitions``. Notes that 14/11 was
World Diabetes Day, tnx for reminder and ``Merry Xmas`` forth and
back. 4) Christer Brunström, Sweden, who`s called almost every week;
says he was a teacher for 40 years, now retired and wrote a book.
Discussing Turkish alfabet reform of 1928 - was a Swedish philologist
involved? Host can`t find any, but will research further if he has a
name. 5) Chris Makouth??, Canada, not getting QSLs due to postal
strike there, but they`ll send him another one anyway. This program
was not live because there will be a TRT International Forum in I`bul
Nov 29-30 and a VOT team is going there to help with translations,
etc. 2328 another song. 2332 finally `Lbox` theme outro, then jazz. I
retune just in time to hear IS & ID in German, then chop at 2356*.
Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960.016, Mon Dec 2 at 2259, VOT not off the air, IS and
English ID, S9+20/30 direct. Into UTwente at 2317 when measured,
S9+25/35 but heavier CCCCCCI than usual. 2321 music, 2328 `That`s Why`
on history of cameras, at first ``camera was a room``; music. 2353
s/off as if 1330 on 13635, IS to 2354*. Something`s always awry at
Ankara (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. A new "at-a-glance" programme grid of the Voice
of Türkiye's English programmes on shortwave has been uploaded today
for the B-24 season.
This single-page PDF can be downloaded from:
https://app.box.com/s/kbdxb4c5lwpju0kpoi27aiwc35br2g2a

or for short:
https://bit.ly/3LgKNJ2
You will also find the programme grids for the English programmes of
BBC WS, VOA, R Romania Int., and CGTN Radio, along with the latest
"Music programmes on Shortwave" list at those links. I hope that you
find these uploads useful (Alan Roe, Teddington, UK, Dec 1)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2271 monitoring: Also confirmed
Sunday December 1 at 2000 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1322.998+ kHz, S9
but noisy into UTwente.

Also confirmed Sunday December 1 at 2257 the 2230 on SW Radio,
Germany, 3975.002+, S8/9+5 into UTwente.

Also confirmed Sunday December 1 at 2330 on WRMI 7780, still NOT 7570,
S9/+10 into Georgia but some JBA signal on 7570, presumably Korea
North; and 7780 much better S9/+15 into NA5C South TX SDR.

Also confirmed UT Monday December 2 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S9/+15 into
NA5C S TX SDR.

Also confirmed UT Monday December 2 after 0230 on WRN North America
webcast.

Also confirmed UT Monday December 2 at 0400 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6160
-65 Hz = 6159.935, S7/9+5 into NH SDR. This signal remains quite weak
direct.

Also barely confirmed Monday December 2 at 2041 the 2030 on SW Radio,
Germany, via Euremotes, JB to not audible and noisy at all of them
starting with UTwente, Ireland, UK, Sweden, but it sounds like me.

Next:
0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW;
1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?];
1500 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?];

woradio at yahoo.com

One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to:
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5800 & 5850, UT Mon Dec 2 at 0233, WRMI with Ray Robinson
telling the early history of Adventist World Radio, i.e. `Wavescan`
which is NO LONGER affiliated with AWR! Not synchronized, since 5800
is playing System D and 5850 System F (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1620 kHz, Dec 2 at 0724 UT, Fox Sports Radio, a few seconds
behind 1640 KZLS Enid. 1620 is KOZN, Bellevue [Omaha] NE (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1670, Dec 2 at 0744 UT, ``Macon BIN 1670``, i.e. WMGE Dry
Branch GA; with low het presumably usual XEFCR Reynosa. Enid`s
`Virtual DJ Radio` may be in there too, but overwhelmed more than a
few blox away, especially at night (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1700, Dec 2 at 0723 UT, gospel huxter in Spanish BUT with
``pronounced`` Brazilian accent!, ``aqui em Dallas``. Recent format
change per NRC AM Log Updates, DX News Nov 26: ``1700 KKLF TX
Richardson — Format to SS:REL (ex-SS); slogan to “Radio Visión Latina
Dallas.” (WH) (JW) {Wayne Heinen, John Wilkins}`` (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 233 MCW kHz, Dec 2 at 0746, JBA carrier: RNA shows 5 in
USA: AG in GA, ALJ in AK, AZN in MO, HEM in TN, OKS in NE, VHN in TX,
and one in Canada, BR in MB. None of which I have definitely logged
before (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Logs
WORLD OF RADIO HITLIST update

Hi Glenn, My latest Hitlist update.
https://www.w4uvh.net/hitlist.htm

* 1) Aggregators - World Radio Network: Links updated to navigate to
new B24 schedules
* 2) Turkey - Updated Live stream timings
* 3) USA - WRMI: The excellent alternative view of WRMI skeds provided
at www.guerogram.org have now been fully updated for B-24.  Link is
unchanged, but label has been updated.
The next update is scheduled for end of December 2024. Best wishes and
73, Alan Roe

** ESWATINI. 13579.9 approx., Dec 1 at 1555, JBA carrier noticeably
askew. Aoki & EiBi show TWR SWZ at 1557-1657 Sunday only in Kirundi;
yes, an emitter well capable of offfrequenciness, cf. 15105v. At 1650
I attempt to refine this, but NO signals into UTwente, two remotes in
RSA, nor TWR`s own in Kenya (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 90.1, Sat Nov 30 at 2031 UT, KUCO with usual post-opera
filler music hosted by Lane Whitesell, who remarx that this will be
his final show after 38 years. I hastened to write to KUCO wishing him
all the best. He`s also been the local host for Met or whatever opera
broadcasts starting at noon (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** ROMANIA. 9620, Nov 30 at 2319, S9/+10 man talking English about
relationships, interrupted now and then briefly by a woman in some
other language, presumably Romanian, translation/summary? or
vice-versa? Tsiganeshti targeting Japan. Only other scheduled
frequency at 2300 is 7220 for W Europe, with N America directly
beyond; ex-11800 which served us better in A24 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Sat Nov 30 at 2305, NO signal from REE to North
America; the other three remain, not an English day, 12030 VG
S9+10/20, 17715 JBA, 17755 JBA carrier. Somethings not nominal at
Noblejas (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960.003+, Sat Nov 30 at 2303, VOT English not off the air,
and listenable direct at S9+20/30 vs local noise level of only S9,
olds underway about Syria/Lebanon. At 2335 into UTwente when measured,
S9+35/45 with music. 2339 ``with-you-every-hour`` promo, more and more
music. 2350 TRTVOTVorld news promo, music. 2353 s/off as if 13635 at
1330, IS to 2356* uncovering Chinese. Something`s always awry at
Ankara (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 21412 USB, Nov 30 at 2312, W1VDE in Oregon repeatedly
calling QRZ Pacific Net, not getting any responses. QRZ.com: ``W1VDE
USA flag USA, ROGER M JARVINEN, 37009 Highway 62, PO BOX 97624,
CHILOQUIN, OR 97624, USA`` Not much phone activity otherwise on 14m
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2271 monitoring: confirmed Saturday
November 30 at 2030 on WRMI webcast only, and WRN North America
webcast.

Also confirmed Saturday November 30 at 2053 about 2 minutes into the
2030v on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, S9+20 into nearby SDR, so started circa
2051.

[9475 of WTWW is still unattainable; WOR had been at 2300 Saturday; if
it resume, would nominally have shifted to 0000 UT Sunday]

Confirmed UT Sunday December 1 at 0100 on WRMI 9955, S9 but
undermodulated into Maryland SDR; S7/9+5 into Bonaire; preceded by ID
in Spanish.

Also confirmed UT Sunday December 1 from 0446 the 0415v on WA0RCR,
1860 AM, MO, S7+22 groundwave into nearby SDR. Next:

2000 UT Sunday IRRS 1323-Italy;
2230 UT Sunday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
2330 UT Sunday WRMI 7570 to NW [or 7780, last 4 weeks];
0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW;
0400vUT Monday WBCQ Area 51 6160v to WSW;
0930 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 6160;
2030 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW;
1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?];
1500 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?];
2100 UT Tuesday IRRS 1323-Italy;
0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
0030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
2030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975.

woradio at yahoo.com

One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to:
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1650, Dec 1 at 0748 UT, again no tone from KSVE El Paso.
Wonder if fixed, or totally off the air? Nearest KiwiSDR at T-or-C NM,
at 1700 is not getting any signal, but not much either from lower
EP/CiJz stations (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU [non]. 9960, Dec 1 circa 0645, no signal from R. Vanuatu;
had not been monitoring lately before 0700 until when it used to
remain; nor on 7260. Next check at 1550, JBA carrier on 9960: that
would be VOA Burmese via PHILIPPINES at 1430-1630, per EiBi the only
other broadcast on 9960; but lacking in Aoki, only Vanuatu. This
correlates with Manuel Méndez, Spain: ``9960, Radio Vanuatu, Port
Vila, 0631-0658*, 30-11, Bislama, English, comments, Island and pop
songs. 14422 [SINPO]. 01-12, checked 0555-0658, no signal, seems to be
out of the air today Sunday 01-12`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 21490 USB, Nov 30 at 2311, 2-way contacts, maybe
Spanish, or even multi-way so not any hams accidentally out-of-band
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Logs
** AUSTRALIA [non]. `Calling All Radio Nutzzz`, occasional DX
broadcast, is underway Sat Nov 30 at 1915 as GB in GB is reading a
variety of DX tips, including from World of Radio. We were notified
yesterday and I publicized as usual that the webcast-only attributed
to Unique Radio would start at 1900, until 2200. He finishes at 1922
and back to Jen in Denver. ``In the November show the running order
has been amended so that the DX Tips, Diary dates & DX Hit list can be
heard in the first 30min of the program. We have special features
about DX-ing Antarctica, MW antenna experiments & a report on the
Oceania DX contest. Regular features include morse code course,
foreign language recognition [by Dr Richard E Wood at 1925, started
with example in Greek, but not identified; clips from the Nixon era]
and live tuning. The next program will air on Jan 25th, 2025.
Contributions of any kind are welcome - just email the show. Our Live
Stream:``
http://uk4-vn.mixstream.net:8104/index.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO [and non]. 739.98 approx., Nov 30 at 0736, LAH = low audible
heterodyne again against 740.00 KRMG. Suspect it`s XEQN again, maybe
irregular (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO [and non] 970, Nov 30 at 0744, ``Jingle Bells`` tune with
different Spanish lyrix: ``Navidad, Navidad, hoy es Navidad...``
rather than trying to translate J.B. literally and preserve the meter.
And then an ``año nuevo`` song already. Presumed the usual R. Fórmula,
and maybe such an ID in passing at 0749 as it was giving way to `Red
Eye Radio`. XERFR CDMX is flagship for a major nationwide network,
50/4 kW per IRCA. Or possibly 1/1 kW XEJ CdJz. Per NRC AM Log, RER
would be WVOP Vidalia GA or far more likely WDAY Fargo ND (Glenn
Hauser,  OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2271 monitoring: confirmed UT
Saturday November 30 at 0400 on WTWW 5085, which has stayed on air
since rough start circa 0230, VG direct, and I also check several
remotes to find good reception at KFS in California, not Anchorage AK,
VE6JY in Alberta, Rockport ME, Miramar FL, Bonaire. Finished at 0429,
bit of music to 0430*.

Also confirmed Saturday November 30 at 0930 on WRMI-2, 7730, JBA S6/S7
direct: at least I can recognize the theme and there also seems to be
something else on frequency. 7730 is instead of 9455 WRMI-5, still on
the skedgrid with System D at this hour, but has been totally off
since hurricane damage - to antenna and/or feedline, and/or
transmitter? It seems the skedgrid is aspirational rather than
realistic (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Also confirmed Saturday November 30 at 1553 the 1530 on SW Radio,
Germany, 6160.001+, S9/+20 into UTwente with some usual ACI from 6165
Urumqi in Pashto at S9+5/10.

Also confirmed Saturday November 30 at 1700 on WRN North America
webcast.

Also confirmed Saturday November 30 at 1830 on SW Radio, Germany,
3975.002-, S8/9+5 into UTwente. Next:

2030vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM [2000/2200];
0000 UT Sunday WTWW 9475 [suspended];
0100 UT Sunday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?];
0330vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415; as late as 0600];
2000 UT Sunday IRRS 1323-Italy;
2230 UT Sunday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
2330 UT Sunday WRMI 7570 to NW [or 7780, last 4 weeks];
0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW;
0400vUT Monday WBCQ Area 51 6160v to WSW;
0930 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 6160;
2030 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 3975;

0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
0030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
2030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975.

woradio at yahoo.com

One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to:
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. 9955, Nov 29 at 0453, WRMI with a song at S9+10
but just barely modulated, less than 9790 China via Cuba on this
occasion (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 780, Sat Nov 30 at 0740 UT in bandscan, I happen to hit WBBM
when it`s playing `Stardate`, 2-minute feature we normally try to
catch at midday on KPR=KANU, QX-FM, or KUCO. But 1:40 AM CST Saturday
does NOT match any of the WBBM times on website: ``Mon 12:41AM;
Mon–Fri 3:41AM; Mon–Fri 9:41PM; Sat–Sun 8:41PM`` None of that can be
believed without confirmation: https://stardate.org/radio/affiliates

Oklahoma listings are all wrong too: wrong time on KUCO, and reversing
calls for its relays in Woodward and McAlester. IMAGINARY ``KCOU-FM
91.1, Enid`` - we do have a 91.1 but it`s not KCOU and AFAIK has never
carried Stardate. Even linx a website for it: clicking on
https://www.kcou.org/ leads to intercept: ``Warning: Potential
Security Risk Ahead - Firefox detected a potential security threat and
did not continue to www.kcou.org. If you visit this site, attackers
could try to steal information like your passwords, emails, or credit
card details.`` It seems there is a KCOU, but on 88.1, a
student/campus radio at Columbia MO. Today`s episode about an Alabama
woman hit by a meteorite 70 years ago. StarDates are often at a
too-elementary level, and keep referring to planets as ``looking like
a bright star``, duh (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1650 kHz, Nov 30 at 0755 UT, NO continuous tone! As KSVE El
Paso had been running overnight for months. Have they finally stopped,
or a fluke? Instead something in English, KCJJ IA likely, as our
closest, KFSW in OK is rarely audible somehow; and KBJD Denver is
Spanish (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 5025, Nov 29 at 0448, R. Rebelde is on mixing music
and Spanish talk, only S9+10 and somewhat weaker than 5050 WRMI (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 870 & 1040, Nov 29 at 0440 & 0442, exactly the same
whooper/wobbler sounds overcoming WWL but undercoming WHO (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** DENMARK. 25800, Nov 29 at 1610, JBA carrier but the OSOB and thus
the SSOB, presumably one of very few 11mb broadcasters, World Music
Radio. It has been reported lately by others in N American mornings.
HFCC-registered as 10 kW ND, 24h; with 25795 & 28805 alternates in
case BBC or something muscle in on 25800 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** FRANCE. 21580, Nov 29 at 1615, JBA carrier, the SSOB & OSOB, i.e.
RFI in Hausa this hour; followed by a bihour of French, each on
slightly different SSE azimuths. 14m remains a grossly underutilized
band even near solar max: not a single broadcast HFCC registered to or
from the Americas, except for some irregular TDF DRM tests, or
MiniTransAt, if ever on 21660 at 15-16 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO [and non]. 740, Nov 29 at 0750, KRMG Tulsa with no rumbling
het on the minus side, nor noticed for a while now. Had been IDed as
XEQN Torreón, Coahuila. Maybe gone or finally on-frequency. IRCA
Mexican Log does not flag it as significantly off-frequency, but says
24h and hardly ever IDs. Need to check more earlier in evening.
MWoffsets shows 739.95 as of 2024-10-12, but sked 1200-0600. Was the
lowest of the low below 740. KRMG was only 0.8 Hz high as of
2024-11-22. One bimonth ago, I put XEQN on 739.97. Circa 0100 Nov 30,
South TX SDR gets nothing but KTRH, and Durango2 is useless on MW. At
0227 I check direct: KRMG in clear, no trace of XEQN het (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 1390, Nov 29 at 0803, 1257, 1531 and 1721 UT chex, KCRC
Enid is OFF, unusual, truly a black Friday. Maybe something failed on
a holiday and no one notices or cares to fix it ASAP. Altho an
original Enid station, KCRC is now totally redundant, since Chisholm
Trail Broadcasting has put the same stupid sports programming on 1640
KZLS, the coverage area of which exceeds 1390, except 1390 has an
advantage westward from Enid; 1640 is from a site SSE of Enid, east of
Hennessey and direxional in order to reach the OKC market, while 1390
is from the studio location on Willow in northern Enid, three towers
in a row, and I`m glad not to be any closer to those than I am. See
UNIDENTIFIED for what else on 1390 (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 1670 kHz, Nov 29 circa 2015-2045 UT, surprised to find a
strong and steady signal here on the caradio: certainly no real 1670
radio stations capable of reaching here in broad daylight. X-banders
on 1660 KC and 1700 DFW are JBA. Playing rock music, disco, Xmasmx,
and soon ``Your friend Liam[?], with more music for you on Virtual DJ
Radio`` ! I am parked at the main intersexion in Enid of US 412 and US
81, a.k.a. Garriott & Van Buren. Nearby are CVS, Walgreen`s, and
Integris hospital. Then I drive away in all direxions, N, E, S and W,
and conclude it`s strongest just where I first found it. Steady so not
mobile. However, local line noise level varies widely from block to
block, which could skew my monitoring based on reception level. At
home, further away, is JBA vs my own high noise level. It seems this
is a thing, https://virtualdjradio.com/ -- but I seriously doubt site
will reveal where, when and why VDJR could be transmitted on 1670 in
Enid, so a pirate, or maybe qualifies as Part 15. Maybe will stay
during holidays so I could trace it better with DFing and S-meter on a
portable (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** SIERRA LEONE [non]. 24975 & 24970 USB, Nov 29 at 1612, pileups of
US stations uttering nothing but their own calls over & over. Must be
hot DX on the lower frequency. DXHeat / DXCluster shows 9L5A on 24965
where I was not listening for it; QRZ.com: 9L5A Sierra Leone flag
Sierra Leone, Sierra Leone 2024 DXpedition by F6KOP, November 27 -
December 8, 2024, Sierra Leone, QSL: F5GSJ``, see:
https://9l5a.wordpress.com/ where their mascot is an hippo: ``Why a
hippopotamus on our logo? The pygmy hippopotamus is found in only 4
African countries including Sierra Leone. It is an endangered species;
a bit like us?`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Fri Nov 29 at 2259, REE music continues thru 2300
timesignal, ID in Spanish and finally opening token English late, VG
direct. Also sufficient on 12030, audible on 17715, detectable on
17755. Preview topic to be about loss of faith in international law, a
week after the ICC issued warrants for arrest of Israeli and Hamas
leaders. And later, a book on Zionism on both side of Atlantic. 2302
into news leading with Valencia area still recovering a month after
disastrous floods. 2315 starting interview about `International Law
after Gaza` seminar, with someone visiting from Edinburgh? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960, Fri Nov 29 at 2258, NO signal direct from VOT English
for N America, nor later, nor at 2334 into UTwente, only Chinese. At
first JBA signal on 9610, but by 2334 at UTwente, only weak presumed
Mongolian. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. 4095, Nov 29 at 0446, upward sweeps, i.e. the ``Desert
Whooper``, which also IDs as DW; unheard for quite a while and now JBA
vs local noise level (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2271 monitoring: confirmed first
SWBC, Friday November 29 at 1300 on WRMI 15770, JBA S7/S8 direct; hope
it`s better eastward and into target Europe.

Also confirmed Friday November 29 at 2130 on IRRS SW via AM Italia,
1322.997+, S8+ into UTwente. Also on WRMI webcast only.

Also confirmed Friday November 29 at 2300 on WRMI 9955, S9+20 direct
vs local noise level of S9+15/20; louder modulation would help.

Also confirmed Friday November 29 at 2330 on SW Radio, Germany,
3975.003+, S9+5/10 into UTwente.

WTWW 5085 still not on by 0220 Sat Nov 30, so going to miss another

** U S A [and non]. 9955, Nov 29 at 0453, WRMI with a song at S9+10
but just barely modulated, less than 9790 China via Cuba on this
occasion (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Pre-`AAAWWW` check of WBCQs, UT Sat Nov 30 at 0046 into NH
SDR: 3265 OFF. 5130 lox onto something at minus 100/105 Hz, but
nothing audible to ear; must be something else. 6160 -71 Hz, S9+5/12
with TOMBS. 7490 -73 Hz, FKB at S9/+20. At 0100 on 7489.927, no
disclaimer about a repeat, which sometimes they do, often not, but
with opening `WTO` theme, it`s obviously a replay of last week,
exclaiming, ``Wake up! ... nothing like radio on a real transmitter
... Cathode!`` - so, never mind (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Nov 29 at 0431+:
774, 855, 882, 1053, 1305. All most likely SPAIN, including 882
CANARIAS which is more powerful than the peninsular ones (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1390, Nov 29 at 0804 UT in the absence of local KCRC,
one signal slightly atop the pileup, starting CBS News LATE with a
bong at 0804! Who would do that? Looking for C affils in NRC AM Log,
ONLY: WAVP Avon Park FL, U1 1000/77 watts; KJAM Madison SD, U1 500/62
watts; and KNCK Concordia KS, U1 500/54 watts, so most likely KNCK by
proximity. What do you bet whichever were on day power? KCRC remains
off all morning Nov 29, but at low noon 1832 UT when I get around to
checking for KNCK or anything else on 1390 into caradio, KCRC has
resumed (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6938, Nov 29 at 0458, AM carrier at S9+10/20, with tix
once per second, but no minute markers; no pirate broadcasts around
here now: so few of them operate that late (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

says sporadically active, probably nowhere near 150/150 kW licensed
power. MWoffsets show it on 539.9732 as of 2024-02-04, i.e. 26.8 Hz

** U S A. 9955, Nov 28 at at 0713, JBA carrier S3/S4, presumably WRMI,
while 9395 WRMI with SMTV is blasting in at S9+20/25. So something`s
very odd at Okeechobee. 9455 still silent (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 23250 et al., replies to the WITK PA harmonix; Hugh Whelan:
``Hello all, Thank you Glenn and everyone for the helpful information
regarding the probable harmonic at 4650. To be clear, I am in West
Pittston (visiting wife's family for Thanksgiving), not at my home in
Fort Myers. This location is directly across the Susquehanna River
from Pittston. I brought my Airspy HF+ Discovery with me and put out a
60' long wire into a 9:1 Neolec balun. For what it's worth I also sent
an email to Wilkins with two recordings, but got an out of office
email saying the person was out for the week. Best, Hugh``

Arthur Pozner replies: ``This Kiwi SDR must be very close to the
transmitter. Most likely between 2 to 3 km distance. Night power is
listed as 500 W, but it is equally as bad. The assigned fundamental
(1550 kHz) frequency is S9+60. The strongest is the 3rd harmonic on
4650 kHz and S9+40. Practically all odd harmonics are pretty strong
and some are highly distorted. The even harmonics are very low (after
dark). Just wondering if the Kiwi and Airspy are both overloaded to a
point of passing fairly high level RF as it is so evident``

Rodney Johnson replies: ``Greetings From Minnesota! Either the carrier
exciter is overdriven to the point of putting out square waves, where
odd harmonics are stronger than even ones is typical, just look a
Fourier series of it:
https://mathworld.wolfram.com/FourierSeriesSquareWave.html
or the receiver front-end is severely overloaded, clipping the
incoming carrier in a square like fashion. Since an exciter running
like this would likely melt or start a fire, it is more likely the
latter. 73s --Rodney`` (via Glenn Hauser, WORLD OF RADIO 2271)

UNIDENTIFIED. 660, Nov 28 at 0730 UT, ``ESPN Radio`` ID dominating.
One might guess sports format WFAN NYC but NRC AM Log does not have it
with ESPN; rather only these two on 660: WDYZ Altamonte Springs FL, U4
3500/1000, and WBHR Sauk Rapids MN U4 10000/500 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 830, Nov 28 at 0737 UT, dead air, surely WCCO, but rock
steady at S9+37. Can`t imagine any local source for this. Some talk
audio JBA underneath (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2271)
