Glenn Hauser logs October 1-2, 2024  View Printable Version
Thursday, October 03 2024

Logs
** CHILE. Re my 10m log of CE3FSL, not in QRZ.com: broad search on
callsign gets one hit: ``Full text of "Winter_1992_Foreign_Radio_Callbook"
Internet Archive https://archive.org › stream › Winter_1992_Foreign_Rad...
CE3FSL Pedro Bravo Cnsostomo , Box 16310, Correo 9, Santiago``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 5025, Oct 2 at 0700, S9+40 of dead air in Spanish from R
Rebelde as something is always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** KOREA NORTH. 9729.815 approx., Oct 2 at 0652, S2/S3 music, 0654
reciting schedule in English. It`s VOK, nominal 9730. EiBi shows a
very busy frequency: at this time also Myanmar, Sound of Hope, Tibet,
none of which audible; and at other hours, Vietnam, KNLS, CRI, Romania
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NEW ZEALAND. 13690, Oct 2 at 0646, RNZP at S9+15/25, another NZ
anomaly instead of 17675 yesterday. The schedule
https://www.rnz.co.nz/international/listen
has been changed again, a portion, but still not matching reality:
00:00 - 06:58     17675 Pacific Updated 2 October 2024 Daily
06:59 - 10:58     13690 Pacific Daily
10:59 - 12:58     13690 Solomon Islands, PNG Mon-Fri
12:59 - 16:50      7440 Pacific Daily
Thus, literally, and how else can one take it? NO SIGNAL at 1059-1258
Sat & Sun! Maybe the other target 13690 should have read an extra two
hours. If they split up the sked by different days of week it would be
more obvious if something were overlooked (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 15520.000-, Wed Oct 2 at 2158, only REE frequency active, at
25% capacity, S9+10/20 direct off the back toward ME, might be
sufficient if not for my local noise blasts. 2201 in token English. At
2226 into UTwente when measured, S9/+10, topic has been something
about farming (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.006, Oct 2 at 2157, no signal direct from VOT. But
*2200 a few sex past, JBA carrier cuts on: looks like another
attempted failure, so I proceed to check SPAIN. But by 2201.6 recheck,
VOT is now on at full blast with olds already in progress, S9+30/40
direct. The initial JBA carrier must have been only the exciter. At
2209-2211 there are two or three breaks in transmission. 2215 ending
`Review of the Turkish Press` and music. At 2230 into UTwente when
measured, it`s S9+40, in commentary about Israel and Palestine,
referring to a speech by Erdogan, outro as by an ``international
relations expert`` whose name I don`t catch but sounds Western, on
`The Middle East and Turkey`. 2234 music. 2239 `Sports Panorama`. 2248
music. 2252 no headlines, s/off as if 1230 on 17620. Something`s
always awry at Ankara. 2253 IS. 2256 restart IS with German IDs until
2256.3*. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. Plenty of activity on 10m, including phone from Japan and
South America, but only take time for a couple logs among many
beacons, Oct 2 at 2205+:

28218, EEEEE DE WA1LAD/B K --- WGB list: ``28217.5 WA1LAD/B - West
Warwick RI USA FN41fq - #0 (06 Mar 2024) Note: de WA1LAD/B`` --
QRZ.com: ``WA1LAD USA flag USA, GILBERT D "Gil" WOODSIDE, III, 285 3rd
Ave, Warwick, RI 02888, USA``

28264-, EEEEEEEEEE DE WB2VVV/B -- NOT in WGB list on any frequency.
But very much on QRZ.com: ``WB2VVV USA flag USA, JOHN C "Chris" FAGAS,
57 KENNEDY ROAD, FOSTER, RI 02825, USA --- If my 2m CW Beacon on
144.293 MHz from FN43eu brought you here, it has been established as
an Aurora Indication Beacon operating at 40 Watts to an 11 dBi
Directional Antenna aimed Northwest at the Magnetic North Pole. When
there is Aurora occurring at a low enough latitude on the radio
horizon, it should be heard as hissy/raspy CW from the approximate
direction of the Magnetic North Pole. I also have a 222.057 MHz Beacon
operating from FN43eu with 10 Watts to a Horizontal Polarization Omni
Antenna, a 50.075 MHz Beacon operating from FN41cr with 1 Watt to a
Vertical Ground Plane Antenna, and a 28.2635 MHz Beacon operating from
FN41cr with 1 Watt to a Horizontal Polarization Omni Antenna. Beacon
reports are both welcomed and encouraged!``
Also with antenna photos (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2262 monitoring: confirmed Tuesday
October 1 at 2330 on WRMI 9395, S9/+10 into Georgia SDR.

Also confirmed Tuesday October 1 at 2347 the 2330 on SW Gold Radio,
Germany, 3975.003+, S9+5 into UTwente.

A notice at 1400 UT Oct 2; I wish all my stations were so diligent in
notifying of schedule changes: ``Hi Glenn, sorry for short notice: We
have to shift WOR from 1930 UT to 2030 UT today. This is just a
onetime, as we have an unscheduled live broadcast today from 1700 to
2000 UT on both 3975 and 6160 kHz. Input during the live show either
via mail studio [at] shortwaveradio.de, via the Speak-Pipe or using
our contact button on our website, sending a message to
"ShortwaveRadio" via WhatsApp or Telegram or calling direct into
studio ++49 176 95 22 5353. Thank you. 73s Andy (Engineer, Shortwave
Radio, Winsen at the river Aller, Germany)`` I spread this info
immediately on the WOR iog.

Confirmed Wednesday October 2 at 2056 the 2030 instead of 1930 on SW
Gold Radio, Germany, 6160.001 at S9+10 but again with RTTY warble QRM
from 6164; and 3975.003-, S8/S9 both into UTwente.

Also confirmed Wednesday October 2 at 2100 on WBCQ 7490 -68 Hz =
7489.932, S9+8/12 into NH SDR; preceded by gospel music which unseems
J. P. Ferraro`s show `Pirate Joe Extravaganzo` as still on the never
up-to-date sked. Next:

0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.

Thanks this week to Chris Campbell, Columbus, Ohio, who sent a box of
radios and other equipment to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK
73702; where one may also send a MO or check on a US bank.

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to:
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9475, Oct 1 at 2328, this WTWW is off again; had been on at
2315. Oct 2 at 2350, 9930 on, 9475 off - don`t know whether ever on
meanwhile (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5890, Oct 2 at 0658. TOMBS on WWCR like on 5850 WRMI. WWCR
sked now dated Oct 1 still claims WWCR-4 5890 is NOT on air at
0500-1200 except on Sat & Sun, and this is Wednesday! Consequently,
also audible on 5980, leaping over 5935 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 9960, Oct 2 at 0650, music at S4/S6 as R. Vanuatu has
moved back here. 9955 WRMI is not strong enough to be a problem, but
it could be (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 2358 UT October 2
