** BRAZIL [non]. 4885, Dec 26 at 0304 & 0758 chex, R. Clube do Pará is still off; hope they are not gone for good. Leaves 4940 Venezuela as only significant 60m S American overnight.
4885, Dec 26 at 2312, JBA carrier, so is Pará back? 4985 presumed R. Brasil Central is there, so further ZY propagation OK. NO 4885 signal into Bonaire at 2341. As I suspected, it`s likely the other 4885, Echo of Hope, Korea South, and/or jamming from Korea North, both operating long hours per Aoki and propagable to here around sunset (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** COLOMBIA [and non]. 5909.98 approx., Dec 26 at 0309, Alcaraván Radio, Spanish talk barely audible vs S9/+10 of dead air from 5910.00 CRI relay via Cuba - or maybe a trace of English modulation from it too. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6000, Dec 26 at 0311, RHC S9+20/30 but just barely modulated, presumably English, yet the only frequency left to attempt it. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 5990, Dec 26 at 2314, S9+20/30 of undermodulated English on CRI relay. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** EGYPT [non]. 9439.995, Dec 26 at 2113-2127 check, NO R. Cairo, English signal into UTwente. Something`s egregious in Egypt (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 960, Dec 26 at 2301 UT, KGWA Enid is finally back on air, with local news; it was still off about 3 hours earlier. So much for our KMA, KZIM reception (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** PALAU. 9965, Dec 26 at 0812, S3/S5 gospel huxter in English. Hope Radio starts no earlier than *0807 M-F, later on weekends. See extremely convoluted sked in Aoki. No indication of any current callsign; formerly KHBN, T8BZ, T8WH, ex-World Harvest Radio and on website the transmitters are still named Angel 4, Angel 5; and ``Angel 3: Launch TBA!`` https://www.hoperadio.net/ also with some views; operates out of West Virginia. Seems like some T8++ callsign ought to apply now. Is the USA FCC involved in this or not? FCC has quit posting seasonal skeds at https://www.fcc.gov/general/high-frequency-stations-seasonal-operating-frequency-schedules but the last one, for A22! did include `KHBN` on 9965 as well as 9930, 15680. This time no residual Cuban jamming on 9965 against long-gone R. República, Costa Rica (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY [non]. 5960.001, Dec 26 at 2302, no signal direct from VOT; by 2323 a JBA carrier, not enough to be VOT, rather XJPBS; yes, into UTwente at 2334, nothing but Chinese from East Turkistan, land of imperialist ChiCom genocide against Uyghurs and other Moslems. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 332 MCW kHz, Dec 26 at 0802 UT, I can barely make out IC, so the Wichita KS NDB survives, and this time no mixture heard from QT Ontario (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2222 monitoring: confirmed UT Tuesday December 26 at 0330 on WRMI 7780, S9 into Maryland SDR, way off the SW azimuth, and much better than Durango2 closer to its aim. Also confirmed Tuesday December 26 at 1408 the 1400 on WRMI 9955, S9/+15 direct, just as I am talking about Cuban jamming, accompanied by some of that right now! Next: 0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1200 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB or 3210-USB [Unique Radio on Operational Break, this week only but still streaming] 1230 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB or 3210-USB [previous #2221] 1500 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [unsked but confirmed last 3 weeks] 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW or 5130v? 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S 0230 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW Thanks this week for a generous quarterly check on the Winter Solstice, from Gerald T. Pollard, Raleigh NC, on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 As noncommercial services, financial support appreciated, or via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. 5800, Dec 26 at 0307, anti-China comments in English, presumably `Freedom Synergy Radio`, pro-Taiwan via WRMI - and with heavy Cuban noise jamming even tho not in Spanish. Jamming unabated at 0758 check despite against nothing long after WRMI be off (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [non]. 5085, Dec 26 at 0306, no signal from WTWW; had been on reliably evenings; just a holiday break? Still not on before 2400 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 960, in the protracted absence of my local KGWA, dominant signal at night continues to be KZIM Cape Girardeau MO: Dec 26 at 0209 UT, ``River Radio`` weather, joint ID with KSIM Sikeston MO. Also Dec 26 at 0805, ``River Radio`` IDs, weather, into C2CAM. So River Radio is definitely their branding now. But see OKLAHOMA, KGWA back on by 2301 Dec 26 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carriers, Dec 26 at 0300: only a het to 710 from 711, i.e. Western Sahara. Dec 26 at 0508: 684, 711, 891. 684 presumably RNE Sevilla, Spain, not heard much anymore since power cut from 300 to only 150/100 kW; westish there is also a 50 kW Tunisia (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 6100, Dec 26 at 2316, fluttery music, S9+10/20. Likely CRI `Portuguese` from Beijing site, which would be // 13650 Cuba relay; or KCBS P`yongyang. Nothing else scheduled per Aoki. Several other East Asianish signals around 6 & 7 MHz at local sunset (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0012 UT December 27

** BRAZIL. 4885, Dec 25 at 0615, NO signal from R. Clube do Pará, very unusual to be absent, must be an Xmas holiday. Nor anysig into Bonaire SDR at 0655 check. No tropical signals added for the occasion, rather subtracted (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CANADA. 332 MCW kHz, Dec 25 at 0619 UT, dash and QT, JBA NDB at Thunder Bay, Ont., 1000 watts. If any Canadian can make it thru my local noise level, this is it. Much closer IC, Wichita KS, still cannot be detected, but at night it would usually be even weaker than QT (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15140, Dec 25 at 1622, JBA carrier, presumably again RHC something very wrong on QRP, while 11760 inblasts, but... (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11760, Dec 25 at 1632, RHC is S9/+10 unlike JBAC // 15140, but modulation at good level is rapidly cutting off and on; wiggle that patchcord! Totally unlistenable. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KIRITIMATI. 846, R. Kiribati, continues to be inaudible and presumed off, Dec 25, neither direct JBA carrier as was frequent last winter; nor now 0658 via Oahu SDR. I`ve been checking 846 direct almost every night around 0430 and/or 0730. Ron Howard and Gary Pence not hearing it either. A night or two ago Kaneohe SDR was out of order, but now is getting something on 840 from the upper 48, see USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. Xmaseve pirate activity, three at once: 6961 USB, Dec 24 at 2328, S9, sounds like a ham QSO talking directly to one person, mentions WA1ZMS, but not sure whose call that be. About the 486 kHz special experimental broadcast, but then mixes in some music. Many logs here as Zeeky Radio Shroomus Show: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,123149.0.html 6935 AM, Dec 24 at 2329, JBA music. These logs ID it as Pirate Radio Boston, with Charlie Loudenboomer: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,123152.0.html 6875 USB, S9+10/20 of music, strongest by far. Many logs here as Radio 48 on MRI: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,123148.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. More pirates on Dec 25, as tuned direct: 6880 AM, Dec 25 at 2251, S9+ music. Mix Radio International logs earlier but none later than 2153: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,123226.0.html 6950 USB, Dec 25 at 2253, music. Radio Free Whatever per these logs: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,123225.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 960, Dec 25 at 0752 UT, KGWA Enid is OFF; Merry Xmas! 2 or 3 other stations audiblized but can`t catch any ID and/or stay awake past 0800. Still off at next check 1614, leaving a couple very weak signals.``KGWA`` is still going on 100.9 FM, but how can that be, with no AM to ``translate``? AM listeners deprived of their far-right talkshow lineup. For almost a year, KGWA has been on U1 250/250 W ND STA instead of U3 1000/1000 watts. This situation has been unnoticeable at local range of about 3 miles from site. FCC info about KGWA via NRC DX News, by advanced masthead issue dates: Feb 7, 2023: applies for STA as one tower needs to be replaced Feb 21, 2023: STA granted, during tower repairs Sept 19, 2023: granted STA extension, 6 more months We recall the protracted period circa 2013-14 when KGWA would provide a dead-air ``Fox hole`` instead of news at local midnight, allowing DX in from as far as CFAC Calgary; and another spell Jan 4-7, 2021. See USA in this report for what else I`m hearing now (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** SAO TOME E PRINCIPE. 13750, Dec 25 at 1626, S9/+20 open carrier, the SSOB except for domestix 13820, 13845; 1627 `Yankee Doodle Dandy` IS and ``Voice of America, Washington DC, signing on``, more YDD; 1629 cut to a bit of African music; 1630 3-note VOA sounder and Swahili s/on, as sked 1630-1700 daily via Pinheira (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 9690, Mon Dec 25 at 2301, token English from SNR, no news, to be about carols from different regions of Spain and languages; first, attempt by the French department at their own carol, but the tune sounds familiar. Good signal direct (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960.003, Dec 24 at 2344, VOT not off the air, S9+30/40 but somewhat distorted into UTwente: slightly different offset than usual .005 so maybe different transmitter. `New Day, New Choices`, something about mental health; 2347 song; 2353 totally wrong s/off sked 3 hours off; 2354 IS to 2355*. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler, awry at Ankara. 5960, Dec 25 at 2300, VOT English s/on sked, S9+20/30 direct but no time to listen; already off by 2356 UTwente check (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2222 monitoring: confirmed Sunday December 24 at 2100 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1323 kHz, S9+10/20 into nearby SDR, not on 918 or 207; and 1323 also S9 into UTwente across Europe, no QRM at either. Also confirmed UT Monday December 25 at 0035, the 0030 on WRMI 7780, S9/+10 but noisy into Durango2 SDR. Also confirmed UT Monday December 25 at 0401, just underway from 0400 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6160 -67 Hz = 6159.933 into NH SDR, S5/S7 with storm noise tho no Blitz closer than the GOM south of NOLA. Next: 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW 1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?] 0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1200 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB or 3210-USB [Unique Radio on Operational Break, this week only but still streaming] 1230 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB or 3210-USB [previous #2221] 1500 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [unsked but confirmed last 3 weeks] 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW or 5130v? 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S 0230 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW Thanks this week for a generous quarterly check on the Winter Solstice, from Gerald T. Pollard, Raleigh NC, on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 As noncommercial services, financial support appreciated, or via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7505, Dec 25 at 0609, WRNO, not off the air but VG, surprisingly with Johnny Cash song ``A Boy Named Sue``, not exactly religious, but 0610 YL DJ as ``Country Roads on WRNO``, and over to OM about Satan, whew, back to Topic A (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15825, Dec 25 at 1625, WWCR-1 the SSOB with sporadic-E boost, S9/+25 but still rather distorted (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 840, Dec 25 at 0658 UT, checking Kaneohe, Oahu, KiwiSDR for 846 Kiritimati, q.v., instead see a trace on 840 which I know can`t be Hawaii nor anywhere in Pacificasia. Most likely California, which is not than unusual to Hawaii on MW with nothing in between, Modesto about 3960 km = 2460 stmi; Xmasmx pauses at 0700 for KMPH, Modesto ID. So this is ``international`` DX in reverse (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 960 kHz has been opened up for DX tnx to the silence of local KGWA: see OKLAHOMA. Nearest other 960s are KMA Shenandoah IA, 533 km=331 stmi; KGKL San Angelo TX, 597 km=371 stmi; KZIM Cape Girardeau MO, 748 km=465 stmi. Also stn in AR and another in TX. Dec 25 before 1700 UT, only traces of a couple weaksigs into the R75 and longwire, so I`m into the frigid car which should pull a little better. ABC news is JBA at 1700, mentions Colo. Sprs. but that would just be an item in nat`l news. Lite ACI from the 950 & 970 fringe stations which are stronger. 1704 local weather by YL voice, but cannot make out any details except current temp 34 degrees. 1705 singing ID? 1706 Chip Davis with `Mannheim Steamroller`s American Xmas`. Brrr, back inside to check the streams: KGKL San Angelo is indeed still ESPN, so nix that. At 1719, KMA is in `Mannheim Steamroller`s American Christmas`, hosted by Chip Davis, MHSR founder: seems also includes Xmasmx by other performers. KZIM Cape Girardeau MO, remote other possibility is emitting nothing but clicking on its stream; but see separate log later. By 1800 UT Dec 25, KMA stream sure enough, is with ABC news. Plenty of ads before and after but no local weather follows; 1806, back to Mannheim Streamroller`s American Christmas, with Chip Davis who claims it`s heard all over the country via hundreds of stations: on KMA, presumably a holiday-only diversion from its usual talk format. Anyhow I`m sure KMA is the one I have been getting direct. This time of year, some residual midday skywave could be in play; there is some slight slow fading, but also at that awkward distance where groundwave is also possible over this good-conductivity path (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR) ** U S A. 960, Dec 25 at 2254 UT, local KGWA still off. Dominant is KZIM, Cape Girardeau MO, promo for its app, weather. 2256 outro Sean Hannity name-dropping, KZIM ID, adstring including something in Cape Girardeau and Marion [IL]; ``RiverRadio`` slogan at least in commercial connexion, not shown in NRC AM Log; ToH joint ID with KSIM 1400 Sikeston MO. Official FCC sunset for KZIM in Dec is 2245 UT [Jan: 2300], so should already have switched from 5 kW ND to 500 W direxional. Night pattern is ``butterfly`` with 4 major lobes, one of them almost thisaway; deep nulls to NW/SE/NE: https://transition.fcc.gov/bureaus/mb/databases/querydata/AM_DA_patterns/bcc7a2d5599f4f83a5bbc1b6063ebeb7-3954.pdf 2315 recheck, even stronger, seems like same station but no IDs; national ads, 2318 `Commodity Update`, Menards ad; playing a ``Wednesday`` talkshow about guns. Menards, home improvement store, chex for Cape G but there are lots elsewhere (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VENEZUELA. 4940, Dec 25 at 0616, Station 4940 is on with YL, S9+32 direct; even better at 0655, VG into Bonaire SDR. Gianni Serra, Roma, refers us to sources placing it at Rincón Hondo, Apure; TDOA DFing long ago had led to somewhere in Apure state, but unconfirmed. These show it there apparently without qualification: ``RE: the religious Radio Estación 4940 in Venezuela or Colombia, I found out these webpages: < https://fmscan.org/net.php?r=m&m=s&itu=VEN&pxf=Estaci%F3n+4940 > < https://fmscan.org/transmitter.php?i=31300010 > < https://radio-america-latina.org/am/fm.php?itu=Venezuela®ion=apu > < https://www.mwlist.org/scanner.php?mode=0&area=9&MHz=4#top > It is reported the site in Rincón Hondo, Apure - Venezuela, with 1 kW TX power. But I do not know if news on these webpages about this Lat Am Radio are reliable or not. 73 Gianni Serra`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA carriers, as hets during 10/kHz bandscan, Dec 25 at 0750: 621 and 711, surely RNE Canarias, and SNRT Western Sahara under Moroccan royal imperialism yoke (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 4800, Dec 25 at 0614, trace of something, music? Bandscan for signs of any unusual LAm tropband activity for Xmaseve/day. 0655 check at Bonaire finds nothing. WRTH 2024 shows nothing but China on 4800, a bit too early to propagate even at midwinter. Of course, any MW harmonix could land on 4800 from 1600, 1200, 960, 800, 600 - certainly not 5X *my* 960 which is off, see OKLAHOMA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 11514.9, Dec 25 at 1631, algo S3. Nothing listed on 11515 in WRTH 2024, Aoki or EiBi; but via WWDXC, BCDX, USAGM RMS monitoring included it among Dengê Gel and/or Turkjam in mid-Nov. I haven`t tried to track any of that lately, but this is their favorite jumparound area (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 0105 UT December 26

** GERMANY [and non]. Gruß an Bord underway from 1800 UT Dec 24 - the annual greetings for German mariners from Norddeutscher Rundfunk via SW relays:
The lineup via AER El Dial: 1800-2100 en la ISS de 6030 250 kW / 251 grados al Atlántico Noreste 1800-2100 en TAC de 6080 100 kW / 301 grados a Europa 1800-2100 en 9635 NAU 250 kW / 130 grados al Océano Índico 1800-2100 en 11650 ISS 250 kW / 148 grados a Atlántico/Océano Índico ( S.Af ) 1800-2100 en 13725 NAU 250 kW / 205 grados al Atlántico Sur 1800-2100 en 15770 100 kW / 044 grados al Atlántico Noroeste Checking UTwente from 1803: 6080 via Uzbekistan best as to be expected, aimed back toward Europe; axually 6079.980, S9+10/20. German talk and audience applause, unseems synchro with 6030, 9635. 15770 WRMI via Maryland SDR is *not* //, rather novelty song in English. IIRC, previous years the WRMI relays were also upmessed. By 1820, 15770 has joined, in German. Mostly German talk the next sesquihour. Direct check at 1826: 15770 VP, 11650 JBA. Inadvertent German lesson: correct name apparently as above. If it were Greetings, plural, it would be Grüße = Gruesse (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. UT Sun Dec 24 circa 0040-0215 UT, our annual pilgrimage to Xmas FM sound-and-light shows in Enid, the same two locations as several previous years: NE corner of Oak & Oakwood, ex-oil well vacant lot with the Singing Xmas Trees on 89.5 MHz, *very* part 15, could not even hear it until less than a block away. Includes Chipmunx song - Alvin!! The other one is in the Pheasant Run Golf Course neighborhood, on the western edge of Enid off Garland, on 94.9 MHz with much greater range of a few blox; a residence with Pistol Pete OSU mascot, tree lights, etc., flashing along with music variety, especially Mannheim Steamroller. Certainly no one else is going to `DX` these, but I find them an interesting media twist, and wish others would describe such FMy shows near them (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** U K [non]. 21630, Dec 24 at 1559, BBC with Bow Bells, 1600 JIP `Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols` - how rude: Ascension should have started an hour earlier for this annual live broadcast. Presumably also on 25900 from UK, too weak to tell. Both ordinarily open at 1600. But I`ve already been hearing it L&C in $ tereo via WUOT Knoxville stream from 1500. About the only church service I`m willing to tolerate, because of the beautiful music, a redeeming quality. Some stations repeat FONLAC, such as KWTU Tulsa, UT Dec 25 at 0400; or even Xmas morning (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 400 kHz MCW, Dec 24 at 0806, AHQ, a 25-watt NDB at Wahoo, Nebraska, which is just west of Omaha. Heard before but it`s been a long time, Nov 6, 2021. Manages to overcome the S9+20 local noise level. Several other intriguing carriers but none readable except: 329 kHz MCW, Dec 24 at 0801, PMV, 25-w NDB at Plattsmouth NE. 293 kHz, FBY, 25 watts at Fairbury NE, no sign of it lately in numerous tunebys, wonder if still on air? Used to be most reliable Nebraskan. Classaxe says it`s 50 watts, last logged Dec 5, 2023 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2222 monitoring: confirmed UT Sunday December 24 at 0100 on WRMI 9955, presumably, as heard by recording of webstream while out on Xmas FM monitoring. Also confirmed, UT Sunday December 24 starting at 0535 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, S9+18 into nearby remote, very late after nominal 0415. Missed zzz checking the Sun Dec 24 at 1130 on WRMI 9955; anyone hear it? Pollard, Raleigh NC, on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 As noncommercial services, financial support appreciated, or via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Re: ``3265.149, Dec 23 at 0201, WBCQ as `AAAWWW` is running way overtime. Just now checked as he mentioned ``3265`` was now testing on air, nowhere near full 50 kW power, maybe exciter only. But I find it quite strong into NH SDR, S6/S8 and as good or better than 7490! Hal Turner finally JIP at 0203`` Uncle Bill responds: ``I checked with the station on this myself because I found the signal strength for 3265 disturbing - turns out it was running on a 1 kW backup`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1955 UT December 24

** ALGERIA. 17600, Dec 23 at 1641, Af/ME music at S7/S9, the SSOB one unit better than 17790 WRMI. Aoli & EiBi show Ifrikya FM, site Béchar, long hours 07-20 UT. EiBi including 8 minutes of English at 1900. A good spot for music (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Sat Dec 23 not checked direct until 1957 when there is no signal. But into two Argentine remotes, about same S7 level vs continuous background noise. 2027 CQ and ``Radio Boletín Antárctico``, hardly Breaking News but noting anniversaries: a crutch for programming ideas; if there is a chronology of stuff happening, there is an odd anniversary almost every day, no matter how insignificant. 2036 Morse code and back to music. Next check at 2336, still going with music, and 0010+ Dec 24; 0014 multilingual RNASG ID (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 5910, Dec 23 at 0357, CRI relay is S9+30/40 but JBM in English. 6000, Dec 23 at 0358, RHC is S9+25/35 but suptorted in English. Somethings` always wrong at RadioCuba and RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15140, Dec 23 at 1645, JBA carrier, presumably RHC as nothing else is scheduled. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6875 USB, Dec 23 at 2320, music vs high storm noise level from across all of west Texas. Many reports here as Radio 48 via MRI: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,123045.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960, Dec 23 at 2322, VOT not off the air, `The Captain`s Log` and theme. Could be opening or closing like all shows playing exactly same announcement at start and finish. Direct, vs heavy storm noise from west Texas (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Correcting the time: 2145 not 2245; MTIA is at 2105-2200: 11720, Fri Dec 22 at 2145, VOA with last part of `Music Time in Africa` unusually interviewing an opera singer, Justin Austin. Too much talk, too little music. Not clear what the African connexion be, unless he`s Black, as is obviously American, born in Germany, military brat? Good signal from Grimesland via a mid-America remote. Tnx to tip from Alan Roe`s holiday programming schedule (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [non]. 13750, Dec 23 at 1647, S6/S9 of Swahili, the SSOB extracontinental, and the OSOB except algo on 13830. Discounting intracontinentals on 13820, 13845. It`s VOA via SAO TOME, this semihour only (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2222 monitoring: confirmed UT Saturday December 23 at 0130 on WRMI 5850, S5/S7 into Maryland SDR offbeam. Also confirmed Saturday December 23 at 1700 & 2030 on WRN North America webcast. At 2030 also on WRMI webcast only, coincidence? Also confirmed Saturday December 23 from 2029 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, Wentzville MO, S9+18 into nearby Warrenton SDR, which tends to skip/hiccup a lot making it nonuseful for continuous program listening. Next: 0100 UT Sunday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?] 0330vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415; as late as 0600] 1130 UT Sunday WRMI 9955 [also webcast, phonecast; jammed by Cuba?] 2100 UT Sunday IRRS 1323 & 918? & 207?-Italy 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW 0400vUT Monday WBCQ Area 51 6160v to WSW 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW 1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?] 0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1200 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB or 3210-USB [Unique Radio on Operational Break, this week only but still streaming] 1230 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB or 3210-USB [previous #2221] 1500 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [unsked but confirmed last 3 weeks] 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW or 5130v? 3265.149, Dec 23 at 0201, WBCQ as `AAAWWW` is running way overtime. Just now checked as he mentioned ``3265`` was now testing on air, nowhere near full 50 kW power, maybe exciter only. But I find it quite strong into NH SDR, S6/S8 and as good or better than 7490! Hal Turner finally JIP at 0203 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 730, Dec 23 at 0750 UT, classical music, a surprise as no stations are overtly so formatted; pause and more as if album cuts. Not recognizable as ``holiday`` or ``religious`` but maybe, and/or anomaly for The Season. Would KKDA Korean TX or XEX Deportes CDMX do this? On 730, no CBC/SRC nor any US public radio stations (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0019 UT December 24

Glenn Hauser logs December 22-23, 2024 |

Saturday, December 23 2023
** CHILE. 28445 USB, Dec 22 at 2309, CB32T calling QRZ and making quick contacts including USA, name Kiko? Occasional CCI talkovers. Almost the OSOB, except for unID weaker 28425 USB, and no beacons. QRZ.com gives us a lot more info than heard; never mentioned Club Traiguén:
``CB32T Chile flag Chile CONMEMORACIÓN 32 AÑOS RADIO CLUB TRAIGUÉN P.O BOX 150, TRAIGUÉN 4730000, Chile El Radio Club Traiguén extiende una cordial invitación a participar en la celebración de su 32 aniversario, durante la cual se activará el indicativo especial CB32T. Este evento se llevará a cabo del 15 al 22 de diciembre, abarcando todas las bandas de HF y 6 metros...`` https://www.qrz.com/db/CB32T So this is final day of event. Where is Traiguén? ``a city and commune in Malleco province, Araucanía region``. Google map shows inland north of Temuco. I guess that`s the one; same name applied to some other places. There is also a namesake island (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6872 USB, Dec 22 at 2319 music, 2320 SSTV beepery, 2322 back to Xmasmx, no announcements heard. More unID reports here, also earlier on 6870 USB and there were separate logs on 6871 LSB: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,122950.0.html SSTV images of chickens, so obvious question, Thunder Chicken Radio? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** RUSSIA. 7602 CW, Dec 22 at 0439, long message seems to be repeating between pauses, starts RLO DE RIT. Signal is fluttery as if from afar and aurorally affected. R- implies Russia, of course. I get six hits by searching the UDXF iog on RIT 7602; from 2009y to 2022y, including ``Russian Navy - Northem Fleet HQ, Severomorsk CW RIT Wkg RLO``; ``The schedules for these messages are: 0900z 1200z 1800z 2100z. Frequencies noted being used for these messages are: 4433, 4807, 4973, 5753 and 7602`` -- so RLO is the station called but not heard, location unknown. Severomorsk is just NE of Murmansk in extreme NW Russia near Finland and Norway, inlet from the Arctic Ocean. BTW, the code presumably includes unfamiliar Cyrillic letters (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 9690, Fri Dec 22 at 2300, token English from SFR, VG direct; after news, long interview with someone of a costume company you`ve never heard of, but seen their stuff in movies or on stage; 2325 over to Lebanon correspondent about Xmas in the ME (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY [and non]. 5960.005, Dec 22 at 2347, VOT English not off the air, S9+30/40 into UTwente at ``with-you-every-hour`` promo, music. 2352 ``W-Y-E-H`` promo *again*, s/off with correct but incomplete B23 sked, overlooking this very broadcast, IS; something`s always awry at Ankara. 2356 IS restarts with German IDs; <0000 Dec 23, timesignal ends a few sex early even considering internet delay, s/on extraneous German, news starts a bit before 0001, usw. 0034 still going with music. 0043 multilingual ID filler reel. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler. At least modulation is OK, but makes the ChiCom JBA underneath. Not off till about 0055* as if intentional extension (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 11720, Fri Dec 22 at 2245, VOA with last part of `Music Time in Africa` unusually interviewing an opera singer, Justin Austin. Too much talk, too little music. Not clear what the African connexion be, unless he`s Black, as is obviously American, born in Germany, military brat? Good signal from Grimesland via a mid-America remote. Tnx to tip from Alan Roe`s holiday programming schedule (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2222 monitoring: confirmed Friday December 22 at 2158 just in time the 2130 on IRRS SW via AM Italia 1323 kHz, good trans-Europe into UTwente with no Romania or other QRM. Likewise tail of WRMI 2130 on internet only. Also confirmed Friday December 22 at 2300 on WRMI 9955, but I was really listening to webcast. Next: 0130 UT Saturday WRMI 5850 to NW 2030vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 0100 UT Sunday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?] 0330vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415; as late as 0600] 1130 UT Sunday WRMI 9955 [also webcast, phonecast; jammed by Cuba?] 2100 UT Sunday IRRS 1323 & 918? (9955), Fri Dec 22 at 2200-2259, WRMI webcast with `Over the Horizon Radio` Xmas special with music from various countries, some obscure. DJ also voices frequent Icom ads. Never said his name and if he gave it at end, that was chopped short for a `WeLoveShortwave` fruitcake! ad. Also has several other times on skedgrid as OTH Radio. Programming page names him Larry Deyoe; offers lots of QSLs but no SDRs (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WBCQ chex ahead of `AAAWWW`, Dec 23 at 0057: 5130.264, ATTATT via NH SDR; 7490 -37 Hz = 7489.963, FKB via Maryland SDR. But at 0058 there`s an echo, as T**** has been Dumped from 5130! 0059 already hearing AW interjexion before ID; 0100 WTO theme; 0101 talx over it with yuletide refs, so must be a new one. 0103 says it`s 12 degrees so he must be in ME, then Angela on phone must remain back in FL (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 3215, Dec 22 at 0439, WWCR-1 modulation sounds moreorless backtonormal, rather than suptorted. Perhaps my obs of the last few nights got to them (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic just barely audible MW carrier check, Dec 22 at 0748: only 891 kHz in non-exhaustive bandscan. usual 1 kHz het upon WLS. Surely ALGERIA, about as late as it can be on shortest dayofyear. Site Ouyed Falet is not included in the extensive locality list at gaisma.com, but it`s just west of Algiers, so what`s the sunrise time there? 0657 UT. With 300 kW it can still be propagating westward less than an hour after LSR. Latest will become in a biweek, 0702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0126 UT December 23
