Glenn Hauser logs April 18-19, 2020  View Printable Version

Logs
A20 SHORTWAVE SCHEDULES: LINX TO MANY VARIETIES OF
http://www.worldofradio.com

** DENMARK. 15805, Sat April 18 at 1452, no signal from World Music
Radio, which Stig Hartvig Nielsen publicized last weekend has resumed
with 200 watts southward, Sat & Sun only at 0700-2000. I was not
really expecting to hear it direct, but here to spread the word for
Sunday tryers. At least no QRM now from 15800 China, and WTWW-3 has
not been testing 15805 for months (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ETHIOPIA. 6090, April 18 at 0532, JBA carrier in the protracted
absence of Anguilla. Presumably Amhara State Radio, which has been
reported active by others; should be much better from *0300 when I am
seldom tuning (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. 6185, April 18 at 0535, S8-S9 of dead air from XEPPM. May
have been refurbished and extended schedule to 0800 but still needs
some work! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** PHILIPPINES [non]. 9700, April 19 at 0022, tonal SE Asian language
and music bits, S9-S7 so one of better signals on band, exceeding e.g.
some WRMIs, until 0028*. O yes, it`s the *only* SW broadcast left from
Radio Veritas Asia, in Kachin, 250 kW, 72 degrees via SMG VATICAN site
daily from 0000, yet incredibly putting such a good signal back here
to deep North America, totally in wrong direxion, not even directly
off the back. Searching EiBi and NDXC on Veritas gets only this one
hit (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ROMANIA. 11950, fair April 18 at 1457, two rock songs, language
uncertain until 1500 timecheck in Romanian, and presumed news but
chopped off at 1500:15*. Yes, RRI scheduled 1300-1500, 285 degrees
from Galbeni to CIRAF 27SE = France. Romanian expatriates are among
the most fortunate to have SW linx from the patrie. And there are a
lot of them:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanian_diaspora
including 700K+ in USA & Canada (Glenn Hauser
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SCOTLAND [non]. 5850 // 5010, UT Sunday April 19 at 0100-0200,
`Encore` classical music hour from Radio Tumbril via WRMIs, VG and
fair respectively; Playlist is still up from last week. Another chance
UT Monday 02-03 on 9455 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TINIAN. 13575.047, April 18 at 1450, VP Chinesish, off-frequency
signaling it`s probably USAGM on a Northern Mariana Island. In this
case RFA Cantonese this hour only (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 9791.40V to 9791.22V, April 18 from 2056 to 2059* as I am
trying to measure it, Turkish talk and music, bit of TRT IS before cut
off at 2059*. Must be the 1600-2100 all-Turkish transmission to W
Europe, 500 kW, 310 degrees so also USward, which is supposed to be on
9460, unchecked. Others have noted this anomaly. Alan Holder, Isle of
Wight found them on 9780 at 1800 instead of 9460. The 1300-1600
Turkish on same azimuth is now scheduled on 9840. Something`s always
erroneous at Emirler. However, quick check amid the 2200 hour to North
America finds music funxional on 9830 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U K. 9800, April 18 at 2059-2100* JBA signal with talk, presumed
again World`s Last Chance via Woofferton, in Arabic, and not // 9330
Arabic via WBCQ which is playing the apocalyptic `Carol of the Bells`
IS (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2030 monitoring: unavoidably awake
Saturday April 18 at 1155, I can detect me on WRMI 9955 for the
revived 1130 airing, VP with Cuban Commie pulse jamming.

Ivo Ivanov, Bulgaria, reports: ``Reception of World of Radio #2030 via
WRMI-09 Okeechobee, April 18:

https://swldxbulgaria.blogspot.com/2020/04/world-of-radio2030-via-wrmi-09.html
1300-1330 15770 RMI 100 kW / 044 deg WeEu English Sat, fair signal``

Also confirmed UT Sunday April 19 starting at 0312 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM,
Wentzville MO, fair via Peoria KiwiSDR. Next:

0900 UT Sunday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB or 3210
0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE
0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE
0300vUT Monday WBCQ 5130v Area 51 and/or 6160v to WSW
0330 UT Monday WRMI 9955 to SSE
0900 UT Monday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB or 3210
1800vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Romania? to WNW
0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html

Thanks this week for financial support from Gerald T. Pollard,
Raleigh NC, who sent a generous US$ cheque to
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 6160v, April 19 at 0014, this WBCQ is still off, but 5130 is
S9, undermodulated and wobbly like 6160 was, so same transmitter? 0049
sounds better with music, tweaked, or swapped back to original
transmitter? This hour is scheduled as GRITS Radio on Area 51 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 0320 UT April 19

FRANCE
** 13820. Apr 14, 2020. 1823-1833, Radio Algérienne, Issoudun-F, in Arabic. A arabic song; 1825 Man talks and begins the Qur´an chant; 1827 Qur´an recitation; Man announcer in conversation with a man and says the word Coronavirus. Very good signal and a moderate interference by a strange audio to seems a Radar (It´s a radar audio or a unknown jamming?). It´s beginning since the new A20 period.

Cuba is still jamming 13820 despite Radio Marti having moved to 13605 for the A-season

Stations should not be foolish enough ever to use a former/seasonal Marti frequency during its scheduled hours, or any hours

More logs using TWR's Kiwi SDR in Kempton Park, South Africa. After
20:30, strange noise bursts happen on the entire spectrum roughly twice

Talk about right place right time right circumstances when DXing!!

I was tuned to 880khz this morning at 5:58am mountain in Laramie, WY and
heard some music bubbling under Rodney Zeigler's 50KW Blowtorch, KRVN 880
thats only about 350 miles away. Fast forward to 1 minute into this clip,
listen and hear what I can now positively ID thanks to the other station
running their legal ID at exactly the same time KRVN took 5 seconds to do
it's pattern change.
