CUBA. 11880, 15140, 15370, Dec 3 at 2108, all three RHC are in
Arabic. Own B-19 sked shows 11880 & 15140 are supposed to be in
French; 15370 in Portuguese at 2100-2130. Something`s always wrong at
RHC x 3 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Glenn Hauser logs December 3-4, 2019  View Printable Version
Thursday, December 05 2019

Logs
** CUBA.

** CUBA [and non]. 6060, Dec 3 at *2357:14 RHC carrier cuts on
S9+20/30 totally covering WRMI/SMTV [see USA], and a few seconds later
modulates with ``full`` frequency announcement, but failing to mention
6060! Summary translation: continues on 13740, 11760, 11850, 9535;
closing now on 15370, 9640, 5040; starting at *2400 [sic], 11670,
11700, 11950, 9640, 6000. Something`s always wrong at RHC: both
stopping and starting 9640 at same time? 11950 and 6000 may start now,
but with separate Mesa Redonda TV audio program.

6060 is still on in Spanish at 0455, S9+10/20 and at 0519 when it used
to have joined in English (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA [and non]. 6145, Dec 4 at 0519, RHC is off, instead something
in Romanian, i.e. RRI which is already scheduled this hour only. Has
not gone back to 6165 either. I think 6145 was on earlier in evening
English; so is Arnie axually taking a break to avoid colliding with
RRI? More likely accidental; anyway, by 0721, 6145 is back on, by when
it is the only RHC frequency remaining.

Back at 0519, a full survey for RHC English: 6100 best by far, S9+30
but undermodulated; 6000 slightly weaker S9+20/30 also undermod; no
6165 or 6145; and 6060, 5040 are still in Spanish. Something`s always
wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GREECE. 9420, Dec 4 at 2025, VOG only fair with folk music, hardly
soporific, drums and fluting and chanting, but will have to do for my
nap lullaby in the absence of Qur`an from Saudi Arabia on 11820. I
need to check whether that`s really on as far as UTwente (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** IRELAND [non]. 7290, Dec 4 via UTwente SDR, IRRS *1856:15 carrier,
and I keep listening on Wed, a non-WOR day. 1859:27 cut/on Aida theme
in progress and sign-on; 1900:05, FSN from London; 1903:05 FSN
Spotlight; 1905:05 news in brief from the United Nations; 1908:35 bit
of African music; 1911 bit of Qur`an with off-mike echo; 1911:25 rock
music but soon Arabic? lyrix; 1916:30 into country song in English; by
1930 recheck some longer talk program. 1959 sign-off with the other
theme, and now with CRI English ACI from *both* sides 7285 & 7290.
Before 1900 it`s on 7285 only, after 1900 on 7295 only. Aoki shows
7295 Urumqi, East Turkistan, land of Uighur brainwashing by the
ChiCom; 7285 is Xianyang site in Cha until 1857; Albania after 2000.
Now if we only knew the true site for 7290. My timings should be
accurate to a couple seconds; I thought there might be internet delay
via SDR but later tuning 3330-CUSB CHU, it`s only about one second
late. Also an unID timesignal on 5000 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** PERU. 5980, Dec 3 at 2350, no signal detectable from R. Chaski
under Cuban jamming against nothing, tho it has been during the past
week prior to slipping earlier 2355v*. Dec 4 at 2331, the signal is
back and cutoff time to be in next report (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** SAO TOME E PRINCIPE. 7325.032, Dec 4 at 0729, BBCWS in English way
off-frequency, S9/+10, 0730 headlines. Should not have been surprised
to find Pinheira is the site during this hour, also caught elsewhere
skewed; previous hour 06-07 is via Woofferton (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOLOMON ISLANDS. 9545, Dec 4 at 0456, VP S1-S2 signal, JBM? Even at
that level there should be more audio than I can detect. Others have
been noting SIBC closing around 0500, and now so do I: cuts off at
0500:22*. Presumably comes right back on other frequency 5020, but not
propagating for an hour or so? It`s certainly there when I do check at
0722, a carrier in 5025 Cuba splash. So here`s another DX station
loggable mainly by carriers and when they go and come (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY. 5960, Dec 3 at 2332, VOT English is on with music at S9/+10
but just barely modulated. Something`s always wrong at Emirler. 5960,
Dec 4 at 2331, no signal except maybe a trace of East Turkistan.
Something`s always wrong at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2010 monitoring: confirmed Wednesday December
4 from 2200:20 on WBCQ 7490.06v, fair S9; always starting 20 seconds
late, but no problem. Next:
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE
Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 6060, Dec 3 at 2332, WRMI in accented English, presumably
the Supreme Master herself, weak and undermodulated but in the clear.
After 2355 I am standing by for RHC to come on at so it does at
*2357:14 as in separate log, blowing away WRMI: I can`t even tell if
it`s still on.

There is also a JBA signal on 5800, which possibly will have to
replace 6060 for WRMI, concluding with the RAE Spanish relay at
0100-0200*. What next?

5800, Dec 4 at 2331, yes, WRMI is back here with SMTV, boosted to
S9+10/20 instead of placeholder carrier;

[non] 6060, Dec 4 at 2331, no RHC yet either, but an S5-S7 carrier
with Doppler flutter. Aoki shows that could be Iran in Arabic from
Zahedan; and/or PBS Sichuan 2 from Chengdu (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 4840, Dec 4 at 0723, S9+30 of dead air from WWCR instead of
TOMBS, which continues modulating with squeal on 3215, S9+10/20.
Meanwhile, the only other WWCR, 5935 with music during TUN/DGS/PMS,
hits S9+50 on my generous meter after double-preamps (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA LW carrier search, Dec 4 at 0735: 189
and 198 kHz, i.e. Iceland and UK (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

New 1450 Log From Laramie, WY  View Printable Version
Wednesday, December 04 2019

Logs
Tuning across the dial, I happened upon the tail end of a local spot that
mentioned "Yankton" into a liner for "1450 KYNT", 435 miles.

And as I was typing this email, I heard a mention of "FM 99.5 and AM 1450",
which would most likely make that KWBE Beatrice, NE, 468 miles.

Icom IC746 Pro radio, 25 foot long by 10 foot tall magnetic loop antenna
