Glenn Hauser logs January 10-11, 2020 |

Saturday, January 11 2020
** ARGENTINA [non]. 5800, UT Sat Jan 11 at 0133, RAE AAM, Spanish via WRMI is in Friday DX program whose name is ``actualidaddx.com.ar`` --- something about a station on 12005; then far-advance news about the Radio Öömrang annual broadcast Feb 21 at 1600-1700 on 15215; then a long item about stations in Perú, until closing at 0142; 0143 next program is `Migrantes y refugiados`. I wonder if same DX content in English translation appear next semihour 0200-0230 on 9395? Did not get to check that.
Despite my numerous reports of the correct frequency and time for RAE Spanish via WRMI, Conexión Digital continues to ignore them and publish totally wrong info about their own station: ``RAE, Radiodifusión Argentina al Exterior: HORA UTC KHZ DIAS 0100-0200 O-6060 23456 2200-2300 O-5010 12345`` BTW, the weekly C.D. is taking a summer break to resume sometime in February. The condiglista is moving from yg to iog (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13564, 13632, 13768, 13836 approx., Jan 11 at 1539, AM/FM spurblobs out of 13700-RHC; even second-order 13836 registers S9, but no third-orders heard. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2016 monitoring: Confirmed at 2300 Jan 10 via WRMI 9955 --- jamming did not abate a bit until about 2318, and finally gone by 2327. Confirmed much better jamming-free, UT Sat Jan 11 at 0130 on WRMI 5850, and much weaker 5010 which fades out to storm noise by 0148; while 7780 has been replaced by music --- APS Radio! Without notice. BTW, following WOR at 0200 on 5850 was a VORW dated 8 August 2019! That`s a *lot* of weeks ago. Not confirmable Sat Jan 11 at 1300 on WRMI 15770 --- JBA carrier only here as usual. Maybe Ivo has checked it over there? Yes: ``Reception of World of Radio#2016 via WRMI tx#09, January 11: 1300-1330 15770 RMI 100 kW / 044 deg WeEu English Sat, fair`` Next: 2030vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 0400vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415] 2130 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to NE 0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 9395 to NNW 0400vUT Monday WBCQ 5130v Area 51 6160v? to WSW 0430 UT Monday WRMI 9955 to SSE 0900 UT Monday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB 0930 UT Monday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB [another episode] 1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Romania? to WNW 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE 0900 UT Wednesday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. Some minor updates/correxions to WORLD OF RADIO 2016: About Mongolia 7260 English scheduling: the one-hour-earlier Saturday broadcast is at 00-01 UT; the time 08-09 was local time. About beacon A on 2097.3: I meant to say Oct 11 as the date I noted it had been missing, not Aug 11. Also, we have learnt later that SPAIN has resumed 9690 as of Jan 10; About Radio Onda ASBL, Brazilian music via Netherlands at new time 00-17 on 5940, but has anyone ever heard it? A later report: ``Rádio Onda has moved to 5940 kHz from 6060 kHz. Heard testing today at 1100 on 5940.05v kHz, weak here in Finland. (Mauno Ritola on WRTH Facebook group, 5 Jan) (Radio Onda's entry is on page 459/460 of WRTH 2020 under Belgium - though SW licence is for 1 kW from site in Netherlands see: https://www.radioonda.be/ondes-courtes) "Welcome to Radio Onda's website! We are broadcasting in DAB+ from Brussels. Here you can listen, in addition to the good French music, the best international hits 80s and 90s, and of course, the beautiful Brazilian music! Listen to the broadcast of Radio Onda also on 6060 [sic] kHz" https://ondaasbl.wixsite.com/english "Radio Onda is managed by ASBL Onda, a non-profit association based in Bruxellas [sic], Belgium. Our activities are aimed at the dissemination of Brazilian culture by the old continent. In addition to webradio, we have a 6030 [sic] kHz Shortwave broadcaster from Holland, with 1 KW of power, covering much of Europe. The programming of the station is quite varied, and here you will hear from MPB, National Rock, Samba, Country, among other national styles. This way, we bring you a great variety of music, with lots of humor and information, for an audience not only Brazilian, but also Belgian and European. ASBL Onda is a member of HFCC, an international organization for shortwave radio frequency coordination, in addition to the Geneva-based ITU." (translated from Portuguese at https://ondaasbl.wixsite.com/home/a-radio) (N.B. Voz Missionaria, Brazil also uses 5940 kHz, though off channel around 5939.7 kHz)(Alan Pennington, bdxc-news iog)`` {many others then report hearing it Jan 10-11, at least via remotes} To which Wolfgang Bueschel replies: ``Yes is A-20 season registered already, start as from March 29, 2020. 5940 kHz 0000-2400 UT ITU CIRAF zones 27E,28NW MRT 1 kW 0=non-directional, ITU antenna type '700 HFCC Conference A-20 The A-20 Global Coordination Conference will be held from 10th to 14th February 2020 in China. {last China location of HFCC conference was a decade ago on tropical Hainan Island close to Dong Fang site} Only on restricted website area: [17-Dec-2019] - A20 upload opened. [15-Nov-2019] - A20 Conference registration opened`` (Glenn Hauser, WOR iog) ** U S A. (7490, 5130), UT Sat Jan 11 at 0000, monitoring WBCQ 7490 webcast, FKB preacher runs over mixing with canned ID; `WTO` theme of `AAAWWW` plays, but soon interrupted by Pirate Joe substituting, and he fades out the WTO, enough of that, before it finishes. Meanwhile, both 7490v and 5130 are JBA, so I leave it to John Carver to report on whatever fill this hour: ``Tonight's show started on time this evening. Very poor signal on 7490 and a little better signal on 5130. Pirate Joe is the host this evening. He starts off by telling the listeners to create their own shows and put them on WBCQ. Some talk about fun and our country's history of not allowing fun going back to the original Puritan settlers. 5130 started to go downhill about 0115 and getting difficult to copy. Will listen to the noise in case the signal picks up again. Later on I hear George Bush being mentioned and a bit later something about Iraq wanting us out. It sounded like he may have started playing music around 0147. At 0155 there was a station ID but only one so they must have corrected the problem of constant station IDs for five minutes in a row. As near as I can tell program ended on time. John, Mid-North Indiana`` Too bad, isn`t it, that none of the Superstation project is available to make Classic WBCQ programming somehow audible on SW (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 12160, Sat Jan 11 at 1607, WWCR church choir with modulation breaking up. Scheduled this hour is `The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1090, Sat Jan 11 at 0702 UT, KAAY Little Rock with series of jokes to a laughing audience, stand-up? Not the usual gospel-huxtering; XEAU Monterrey at right angle needs to be nulled instead of vice-versa; 0705 ads; 0708 opening the NBC-TV Today show hour with Hoda and Jenna for January 10! but no video here. Seems a drastic format change. Maybe this is not `Beaker Street`, but a related story sent on by Rick Barton, AZ; very vague about when B.S. would be on: “Beaker Street,” Clyde Clifford’s pioneering late-night radio show, is back on the air. The program debuted on 50,000-watt AM radio station KAAY in 1966 and established itself as an underground dispatch — and as an antidote to commercial radio’s milquetoast formulas and penchants for repeating the same 100 classic rock tracks on a carousel. Clifford favored deeper and longer album cuts than daytime mainstream radio had patience for, and because he broadcast the show from KAAY’s Wrightsville location, where the station’s transmitter was located, he set his mellow narration to a backdrop of freaky space sounds to muffle the transmitter’s hum — a trademark that so defined the show that it had to be kept, even when “Beaker Street” found life in other, more noise-controlled studios. Now, with Clifford’s (real name: Dale Seidenschwarz) retirement from a decades-long day job in the rearview mirror (barely), the beloved rock radio bulletin is slated for a revival on Arkansas Rocks, a coalition of veteran radio talent that, like Clifford, skews less toward stuff like “Hotel California” and more toward the likes of “Traveller in Time.” Stay tuned for more on Clifford’s return to the airwaves, scheduled for February 2020. Until then, here’s Arkansas Rocks’ air talent Tom Wood bringing the good news... https://arktimes.com/entertainment/2020/01/07/beaker-street-is-back (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1860-AM, Sat Jan 11 at 1611 UT, WA0RCR in full daytime is S9+20 with ham news; unfortunately my local noise level on 160m is also S9+20. But it does achieve wide coverage, especially wintry (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 15373.7-USB, Jan 11 at 1527, weak 2-way in Spanish INTRUDERS (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1857 UT January 11 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Friday, January 10 2020
** ALBANIA [non]. 15770, Jan 9 at 2030, R. Tirana via WRMI opening with IS, but transmitter is breaking up, split-seconds off the air and back on; still occasionally doing this around 2039. Winds shorting out antenna elements? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CANADA. 272-MCW kHz, Jan 9 at 0710 UT, dash and YQA, ND beacon, 400 watts at Muskoka Falls, Ontario, per dxinfocentre.com one of those to be decommissioned on March 26. 276-MCW kHz, Jan 9 at 0712 UT, dash and YEL, NDB --- have I got Yellowknife? NO, it`s just ELliot Lake, Ontario, 200 watts. (Yellowknife is ZF on 356 kHz, 3800 watts --- should be on lookout for that) (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA. 11640, Jan 10 at 0706, VP signal sounds Cantonese; yes, Yue scheduled from CRI, 500 kW, 59 degrees from Jinhua site (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA [non]. 13630 via MALI, Jan 10 at 1933, S9-S6 Chinese music only, suitable for napping, finally 1954.5 Brasilian accent recites entire CRI Portuguese sked with no explanation what happened to all the programming; 1956.5 dead air to 1958*. *1958.5 back on OC and 2000 opening China Plus Radio, news in English, seems a bit stronger? But both are supposed to be 100 kW at 111 degrees from Bamako so no need for transmission break: Portuguese 1930-2000, English 2000-2130, plus French 2130-2230 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 12200, Jan 9 at 0646, RHC English steady S9+10, NF? Strong enough to be a fundamental but in fact is 2 x 6100, even stronger at S9+20/30, both with slight squeal but otherwise good modulation. Hardly anything inside 25 mb, except residual pulse jamming on 11930 and NZ on 11725. The other 6 MHz channels are still on, 6000, 6060 and 6145, but not a hint of harmonix from any of them which would have been on 12000, 12120, 12290. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2016) 12200, Jan 10 at 0702, no signal since 6100 is off already. Only one on now is 6145 RHC English at S9+30 (Glenn Hauser, WOR) ** CUBA. 13631 & 13769 approx., Jan 9 at 1524, weak spurblobs from 13700, plus/minus ~69 kHz. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13430 < 13498 < 13566 < 13633; 13907 < 13839 < 13769, Jan 10 at 1517, AM/FM spurblobs out of 13700 at 67-68 kHz intervals, weakest at the outskirts. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15140, Jan 10 at 1932, RHC overmodulated/distorted in Kriyol; something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MADAGASCAR. 11965, Jan 9 at 2028 bandscannng hits this SSOB from APR via MWV, as they utter ``...slippery slime oozes from its skin...`` so I keep right on tuning! They sure know how to turn off listeners; probably pseudo-science during a so-called `Creation Moment` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 7470, Jan 10 at 0335, anti-Christ pirate Station YHWH very poorly audible with medium SAH, presumably Lampertheim as scheduled in Pashto until 0400 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 4600, Jan 10 at 0332 UT, SBG // 1390, i.e. a mixing product from local KCRC ESPN, but how? It`s almost always weakly audible as transmitted rather than receiver overload. The only formula I can come up with for a combination with our other local, KGWA 960, is: 4 x 1390 = 5560; 5560 minus 960 = 4600! (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** SPAIN. 9690, Jan 9 at 2026, REE North American frequency is still off, while the other three transmitters are on during stupid ballgame, 11685, 11940, 12030. If I`m not mistaken, 9690 has not been heard at all this year so far; hope it`s not closed for good, but not unusual for one or two Noblejas transmitters to be down (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2016) 9690, Jan 10 at 2135, now it is back on as bestsig, not ballgame; also audible on 12030 but 11940 & 11685 JBA carriers. So now we may expect mostly-music English resumed at 2300-2330 M/W/F on 9690, 11940 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [non]. 12075, Jan 9 at 2029*, VOA cuts off a song just as I tune in; indeed French via BOTSWANA is scheduled daily until 2030 only, tho the programming continues if listening on web or FM. HFCC also shows this French frequency resumes at 2100-2130 M-F only. What nonsensical transmission scheduling! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2016 contents: Australia, Bougainville, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Cuba, Equatorial Guinea, India, Indonesia, Iran, Korea South, Mongolia, Netherlands, North America, Puerto Rico, Sweden, Turkey, USA; and the propagation outlook. Sked shows 5130 on air UT Fri at 0200-0400 with `Christian Missionary Radio Evangelism` and `Radio for Peace International` at 0300 --- but now that presumably in French is apparently gone. Own website https://www.rfpi.eu/nous-ecouter/comment-ecouter-radio-for-peace-internationale.html shows both summer and winter schedules. Summer had 5130 from unknown station at 0200-0300 but only on the first Thursday [sic] of the month, while winter eliminates that completely (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. 9330, Fri Jan 10 at 0708, Cuban spynumbers and digital blaaps are overriding World`s Last Chance Radio via WBCQ. Everyone should have seen this collision coming, since Cuba has been on 9330 forever during this hour four nights a week; but who cares? Neither counts upon rational listenership (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15555-USB, Jan 9 at 1522, WJHR gospel huxter very poor but audible, which is seldom. Is this because of irregular operation, or just the need for enhanced propagation? 6m map showed a bit of HF sporadic E up to 15 MHz over Alabama, not the right spot but close enough? WWCR 15825 a bit more than JBA carrier now too. Someone reported WJHR going off at 2000 instead of registered 2200 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5890, Jan 10 at 0333, WWCR with lots of buzzhiss especially on the sidebands; maybe due to program audio source as seemed to clear up later (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2238 UT January 10 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
