re Trump vv Khomeini rocket war of last night:
flightradar24 show some
CANCELATION
of LUFTHANSA and TURKISH Airline flights,
but still a lot of UAE / Dubai / Qatar / Aeroflot / AUSTRIAN airlines
work in the Iranian air.

Most other international airlines fly
DIVERSION routes,
northerly across over Turkmenistan, Azerbaidjan, Black Sea;

or more southerly across over Oman, UAE, Kuwait,
far northern Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Cyprus, towards Europe.

Airlines have learned a lot of that rocket crash disaster from the
East Ukrainian civil war,
and are flying DETOUR routes around crisis areas in good time.

Glenn
I left my SDR recording overnight 6/7 January V of Vietnam. Very poor
reception this night on 7315 khz, but can confirm that VoV was heard in
English at 0000. WHRI ID & promo just about heard at 0027, then the
transmitter appears to have been switched off at around 0029 (or maybe
just faded away) with only China being heard very faintly. 0059UT
'Onward Christian Soldiers' heard followed by VoV theme at 0100 and into
presumed Vietnamese. WHRI ID just about audible at 0159.

Wonder if the relay contract ran out at yearend? Had not noticed or
checked for it yet this year (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

YZE, 1000 watts at Gore Bay, Ontario, mixing on same frequency but
different pitches with stronger 400 watt FS, Sioux Falls - Rock, South
Dakota (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 5040, Jan 7 at 0721, RHC English still on here with squeal,
// 6060 stronger than 6145. Something`s always wrong at RHC. 5040
needs to get out of way for Vanuatu from 0630 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13629 & 13770 approx., Jan 7 at 1509, spurblobs from
13700-AM, 70-71 kHz displaced. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11880 & 15140 & 15370, Jan 7 at 2108, all three RHC in
choking Arabic today. You never know what combo of scheduled or
non-scheduled languages will occupy the 2100 semihour. Something`s
always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6145, Jan 8 at 0457, RHC English is just barely modulated
while only // 6000 is suptorted. Something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 7470, Jan 8 at 0300, JBA carrier fades up enough to
recognize Station YHWH sermon by anti-Christ pirate. At S8-S9 still
tough copy. Was also a JBA carrier on 7480 where instead he was caught
a few nights ago by Ron Howard, so check both (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 6125, Jan 8 at 0445, S9+10 of dead air; by 0447 some JBM
music; 0452 headline in English from VOT, off by 0454*. Something`s
always wrong at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 2097.3-CW, Jan 7 at 0728 the single-letter beacon A is back!
ID every dekasecond. Also Jan 8 at 0220. Have included this in
bandscans despite last reported by Steve Zimmerman, WI on Aug 20. It
was so regular that I did not always log it but noted Oct 11 that it
was no longer to be heard. Last time I did log it was August 3.
Originally thought to be in Quartzsite AZ, but then denied to be
there, yet presumably somewhere in SW USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5850, Jan 8 at 0144, WRMI playing familiar World Music
including Cayman holiday, mbira on VG signal // weaker 5010, since
there are now a number of blank fields on the System F schedule such
as today 0130-0300 on #12 5850 and #14 5010. We don`t see World Music
by name deliberately anywhere on the sked (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5935, Jan 8 at 0458, the DGS/PMS/TUN WWCR transmitter is
AWOL, no trace, while the other three are inbooming: 5890 S9+30 not
quite signed off yet; 4840 S9+30, 3215 S9+20. Furthermore, 5970 WEWN
Spanish is S9+10/20 about the same distance and nominal (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** VIETNAM [non]. 7315, Jan 8 at 0140, No VOV in Vietnamese, as WHRI
is OFF. Back on at 0256 with WHRI own gospel-huxtering at S9+20.
Wonder if the relay contract ran out at yearend? Had not noticed or
checked for it yet this year (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9961.5-USB, Jan 7 at 1515, 2-way in Spanish, very poor
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Logs
** ALBANIA [non]. 15770, Mon Jan 6 at 2057, rock music on WRMI, feared
not R. Tirana relay until I hear their IS at 2059 closing (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** AUSTRALIA. Reply from Tim Gaynor Jan 6, about bushfires: ``Hi
Glenn, No fires in my area at Gunnedah. Just smoke from other fires
elsewhere. Appreciate your concerns but we're ok here, Best regards,
Tim Gaynor, Unique Radio, Gunnedah NSW, Australia`` (Glenn Hauser,
WOR)

** COLOMBIA [non]. 5910, Jan 7 at 0226, S9 music and Romanian
announcement from RRI // 7340, as scheduled 0100-0300, 300 kW, 307
degrees to E North America. NO sign of Alcaraván Radio as reported by
a DXer in New Jersey to the NASWA Flashsheet, with ID at 0214 UT Dec
31, and no mention of RRI. Alcaraván has been off the air for about a
sesquiyear. Possibly back the night before NY eve?? RRI would have had
to be missing simultaneously. 5910 is further blocked at 0300-0500 by
China via Cuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15370 // 15140 // 11880, Jan 5 at 2111, all three RHC are in
Kriyol, rather than supposedly Portuguese, Spanish, Arabic, as in
EiBi; or Portuguese, French and French as in WRTH 2020. Something`s
always wrong at RHC :::: (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** PERU. 5980, Jan 6 at 2353, JBA carrier from R. Chaski vs Cuban
jamming, until cutoff at 2354:05*, My last check was Dec 29 until
2354:22, i.e. 17 seconds earlier now, 8 days later, averaging 2.125
seconds slippage per noctem (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ROMANIA. Re: ``7345, Dec 30 at 0718, RRI mailbag in German reading
letters at some length; 307 degree beam from Ziganeschti also serves
North America beyond. Spelling it fonetikaly into German raises the
question whether the name be related to Gypsies, or rather Roma. Say,
could that name be linked to Romania? Altho hardly Latinate``

Erich Bergmann, Germany, replies: ``Hi Glenn, It is difficult to say
if Tiganesti is related to the Romanian term “tigani” which means
Gipsy. There are a few villages in Romania with this name. By the way
the village Tiganesti with the transmitter site was included in 1968
in the village Ciolpan and took also this name. Originally the village
Tiganesti took its name about the year 1800 from the nearby monastery
and lake with the same name. The term “tigani” is generally
substituted nowadays by Sinti and Roma, they have their origins in
some parts of India from where they migrated to Europe a few hundreds
years ago. On the other hand Roma and Romania are not linked. 73s
Erich`` (Glenn Hauser, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960, Jan 6 at 2352, VOT English is on tonight, and a

Hauser, OK, WOR)

500 watts from Duluth - Pike Lake MN; and BRA, 400 watts from
