Frank Merrill/Macomb IL Kenwood R-1000, with BOG (Beverage On Ground), ~850 feet at 200 degrees bearing, no termination. 1430 kHz USA KSHJ Houston TX 03 Feb 2333 UTC - A few promos to call Catholic Answers Radio at 888-291-8000 to make a donation. This is the only one that makes sense. 980 kHz USA KCAB Dardanelle AR 03 Feb 2349 UTC - Ad for Bargain Barn in Russellville, Arkansas Army National Guard; weather every 20 minutes from the KCAB weather center. Entirely alone on 980. 1120 kHz USA KTXW Manor TX 04 Feb 0029 UTC - real estate ad mentioning the "central Texas real estate market" with 512 Area Code. The only 1120 station anywhere near central Texas. Actually atop KMOX (135 miles away). NEW. 1470 kHz USA WVOL Berry Hill TN 04 Feb 0101 UTC - Legal ID as "WVOL Berry Hill-Nashville" after soul (and one doowop - Flamingos) oldies. I wasn't able to ID similar programming from the previous night. NEW. 1420 kHz USA KBHS Hot Springs AR 04 Feb 0104 UTC - Mention of Hot Springs and "La Caliente" station name. Also a Hot Springs ad somewhat later. Regional Mexican format. This appears to be extremely dominant here at night, on this longwire which is pointed directly at them. 970 kHz MEXICO XERFR Ciudad de Mexico (Mexico City), D. F. 04 Feb 0511 UTC - Probably solving an unID from last night, this one more on top tonight, with "Formula" and "Grupo Formula" multiple mentions. They seem very easy to ID this way. Turns out they're a flagship station for this. QRM from unID domestics. NEW. 900 kHz USA KHOZ Harrison AR 04 Feb 0524 UTC - Thought I heard KHOZ calls deep in the mud, so I went looking for a stream. They have one, and it was parallel, but by this time they had faded well on top, and hearing the callsign was easy. NEW. 1440 kHz MEXICO XEEST Ciudad de Mexico (Mexico City), D. F. 04 Feb 0807 UTC - female ballad with high voice, parallel to their stream for this song and the next song. (I like to get two songs on a stream, if possible, when I count something.) Buried a ways down in the rubble, including another Spanish station (not parallel to KELG stream), somebody sounding like Sports, and a weak rumble of other stations behind this.
