Glenn Hauser logs August 16-17, 2024  View Printable Version
Saturday, August 17 2024

Logs
** CHINA. 15800, Aug 16 at 0627, JBA carrier. Presumably CNR1 jammer
vs Sound of Hope; I was thinking maybe the lowpower in Denmark which I
have never traced, but that`s really on 15700 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 5025, Aug 16 at 0634, S9+15/25 of dead air in Spanish, fourth
night in a row of R. Rebelde quietude. Something`s always wrong at
RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** FRANCE [non]. 13735 & 7340, Aug 16 at 1511 direct and 1524 into
UTwente, no signals from Mini TransAt marine weather. Rather, UTwente
shows a JBA S6 carrier on 7340.008. EiBi and Aoki show that would be
PBS Xinjiang, Urumqi in Kazakh, from East Turkistan, std denunciation.
Canary SDR antenna must be disconnected. No signals to Bermuda either.
I had no better luck Aug 15 during same hour (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** GUADELOUPE. 21223 USB, Aug 16 at 2208, FG5GP with pileup, quick
contacts including an EI+ from Ireland; power 200 watts. QRZ.com:
``FG5GP Guadeloupe flag Guadeloupe, ALAIN ROBERT, 14 LOT LES COLIBRIS
CONVENANCE, 97122 BAIE MAHAULT, Guadeloupe`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6938 USB, Aug 17 at 0039, JBA talk, 0040 song, S7 =
HSNL. These say it`s Goat Herder Radio:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,132627
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6950 USB, Aug 17 at 0038, yelling rock music, S8/S9
vs high storm noise level. Many logs here as Thunder Chicken Radio:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,132626
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** PANAMA [and non]. 28282 CW, Aug 16 at 2202, JBA beacon starts with
HP-, all I can copy, but no doubt HP1DCP/B, as logged Aug 6 at 2205.
The OBOB as our F2 Panamá pipeline resumes. Also one phone on 28430
USB with extremely colloquial Brasuguese, CQ 10, could not copy his
PY- call, about double the distance of Panamá (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Fri Aug 16 at 2200, token English from SNR, VG
S9+20/30 direct and the other three audible, preview interview with an
American expatriate who is also a local official in Madrid, where he
has stayed because of girlfriend. 2201.5 news starts with M-pox
spreading to Sweden, Pakistan, from DR Congo. 2225 he muses on good
and bad aspects of living in Spain - watch out for false-friends, like
``constipado`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785, Aug 16 at 2158, VOT not off the air, IS & ID in
English, S9+20/10 direct would be sufficient if one upput with local
noise level. After olds, 2212 `Review of the Turkish Press`; Much
better into UTwente, at 2221 in `Folk Tales`. 2227 music, 2228
``always-by-your-side`` promo. 2229 `That`s Why`,   with Efsun the
accentuated; can`t really follow it, but something about the Lira as a
unit of weight, currency, but also mentions the constellation Libra -
? 2236 music. 2249 ``always-by-your-side`` again. 2253 s/off ignoring
SW, IS once and chop at 2254* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [non]. 7495, Aug 17 at 0041 YL in S Asian? language S9/+10
direct about same level as neighbor 7490- WBCQ. EiBi & Aoki show it`s
VOA R Ashna in Pashto to Iran via Lampertheim, GERMANY, this semihour
only.

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2256 monitoring: confirmed Friday
August 16 at 2030 on IRRS ``Shortwave`` via AM Italia, 1322.994+ kHz,
S8.5/9.5 into UTwente, following Wavescan and music buffer.

Also confirmed Friday August 16 at 2222 on WRMI 9955, S5/S8, no
jamming audible, off the back into Maryland SDR, as TWR Bonaire SDR is
often tied up.

Also confirmed Friday August 16 at 2244 the 2230 on SW Gold Radio,
Germany, 3975.001-, S9+10/15 into UTwente.

Note that coincidentally, we are at 0300v three nights in a row on
three stations, WTWW, WA0RCR, WBCQ - almost four with 0330 on WRMI.
Next:

0300 UT Saturday WTWW 5085 [ex 0400!];
0930 UT Saturday WRMI 9455 to WNW;
1430 UT Saturday SW Radio, Germany 6160;

2300 UT Saturday WTWW 9475;
0000 UT Sunday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]
0230vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0315; as late as 0500];
1900 UT Sunday IRRS 1323-Italy
2130 UT Sunday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;

1930 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW;
1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?];
2000 UT Tuesday IRRS 1323-Italy;
2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;

1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.

As a non-commercial service, voluntary financial support appreciated.
Thanks this week to Richard Terry Colgan, Austin TX, ``Thanks for your
hard work on WOR``, with a contribution via PayPal in US funds but not
necessarily, to woradio at yahoo.com

One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to:
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9930, Aug 16 at 1523, no signal from WTWW, which was
supposedly active from 1500 with TOMBS and heard later yesterday;
still not on by 1900. I did hear 5920 come up about 0101 or 0102, tho
George was allowing 3 minutes to make the change. Finally at 2015 I
notice 9930 is on the air, but VP signal into the ATS-909 vs noise
level. Comes up stronger by 2017: maybe power is being turned up, or
prop vagaries. 9475 is even poorer. At 2025 into PEI SDR, 9930 is S6,
9475 is JBA S5. How do their azimuths and lobes compare?? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Pre-`AAAWWW` check of WBCQs, Aug 16 from 2350, into NH SDR:
no signal on 3265, but waterfall shows some kind of noise blob
3239-3269, at 2354 jumping down to 3217-3242. 5130 no signal, so we
expect a rerun. 6160 -71 Hz = 6159.929 music presumably TOMBS. 7490
-72 Hz = 7489.928, S9+10 with FKB. I keep listening to 7490-, 2359
1-minute-tone-warning and he wraps up quickly, then some `Chariots of
Fire` music and WBCQ ID.

Aug 17 from 0000, WTO theme and AW talks about ``messing up the
airwaves``, which is how he opened last week, see that report and
never mind now. 3265 & 5130 still off. Sometimes reruns are disclaimed
as such before playback but can`t depend on that, nonesuch this time.
I let it run in background and at 0024 notice that there is again OTH
radar clickery QRM unavoidably audible, and visible on waterfall
covering 7472-7494; one might suspect ``jamming`` or at least some op
with no respect for WBCQ. Continues rest of hour, into Hal Turner
after 0100. But no OTHR audible direct (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 889 & 891 kHz, Aug 16 at 0642, JBA carriers flanking
WLS. Requires very careful tuning up & down in USB & LSB, no visual
display. Therefore presumably the Cuban with spurs, not Algeria on 891
only. However, unheard at 0652. But at 0821 wakeup, 891 audible, a
further clue to Cuba, surely too late for Algeria. However, earlier,
891 could still be Algeria and/or Cuba. Also still carriers on 631 and
1141, IDed previously as off-frequency Cubans (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs August 14-15, 2024  View Printable Version
Friday, August 16 2024

Logs
** CUBA. 5025, August 15 at 0636, for third night in a row, R. Rebelde
carrier still on this late but dead air (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF
RADIO 2256)

[and non] The Other side:
```El Madurismo-Castrismo Won't Go Away Quietly --- To restore
democracy, the Venezuelan people must not only square off with Maduro
and his thugs, but also with the repressive, logistical, political and
counterintelligence machinery of the Castroist tyranny
Roberto Álvarez Quiñones, Miami 09 Ago 2024 - 22:30 CEST...``
https://diariodecuba.com/cuba/1723235419_56506.html
Another related other side:
``Totalitarianism vs authoritarianism: the differences between the
regimes of Cuba and Venezuela --- Left-wing dictators never consider
relinquishing their power. History comes to a standstill when they
entrench themselves in government palaces. --- Orlando Freire Santana,
La Habana 12 Ago 2024 - 15:09 CEST
The regimes of Cuba and Venezuela comprise what we could term Latin
America's “extreme left.” Internally, they share several similarities,
such as a disdain for democracy and an excessive attachment to power.
Externally, meanwhile, they share an animosity towards the United
States Government, as well as a willingness to serve as pawns of the
Kremlin's geopolitics. Notwithstanding the foregoing, it is possible
to note important differences between the political systems of Havana
and Caracas...``
https://diariodecuba.com/cuba/1723468145_56537.html
(via Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA. RF and virtual 13, Aug 14 at 0358 UT, legal ID break
slide on KETA 13-1 OKC shows calls of the four major OETA stations,
including KOED channel 11, Tulsa -- but there`s a tail on that O ! ---
it`s a Q, I am rather sure tho had only a few sex to view it; they
made a typo in their own ID. I notified them that San Francisco would
not appreciate that, but no reply. In the past when I have pointed out
problems, they tried to weasel out of them. So it`s another Okie
mis-IDing itself, after K17JN-D Enid as ``K17JI-D`` which is really
another California station; Q.E.D. Checking KETA exactly 24 hours
later, the KQED slide did not appear (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)
** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. George McClintock tells me the other WTWW
transmitter is now activated effective today Aug 15 with TOMBS at
15-01 UT on 9930, which I just confirmed it at 1816; and at 0103-0400
on new 5920. Times may expand later (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO
2256)
In last report this item somehow misdated ``Mon Aug 13`` - should be:
** SPAIN. 17855, Wed Aug 14 at 2200, token English from SNR, VG
S9+20/30 direct, and also audible or detectable on 17715, 15520,
15390. Preview topic to be the 70th anniversary of some ``gag law``
reforms which are now being reconsidered, interview with someone from
Amnesty International (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
This log was mis-dated as Aug 13; corrected:
** TURKEY. 11785, Aug 14 at 2158, and later 2203, 2212 chex direct, NO
signal from VOT English. Nor circa 2245 into UTwente, nor on previous
goofs 9875, 11795. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler.
Propagation is back to normal (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2255 monitoring: confirmed UT
Thursday August 15 at 0130 on WRMI 5010, S9+30/35 off the back into
Georgia SDR.
** U S A. 5010, Aug 15 at 0636, this WRMI is off, but 9955 is still on
in RFI Spanish; usually the two run late on the same nights but with
different programming (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 7505, Aug 15 at 0633, no signal from WRNO, gone again after
late broadcast last night (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 1100 kHz, Aug 15 at 0642 UT, dead air which must be usual
dominant signal from WTAM Cleveland OH, which normally is // 1110 KFAB
with C2CAM. Yet I still have a much weaker C2CAM under the open
carrier. But new NRC AM Log does not show any other C2C station on
1100, so really WTAM but undermodulated? I am not about to hunt thru
every state in the affil list not by frequency:
https://www.coasttocoastam.com/stations/
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 891 kHz, Aug 15 at 0648 UT, het against WLS 890, and
none on 889, so presumed ALGERIA again (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR0
