Please note and spread the word - for those not on a list where my almost-daily all-band but mainly SW log reports appear -- or for those who are but find this a more convenient archive, weekly merged roundups of all these reports in their original form are posted early every UT Thursday via:

Glenn Hauser logs November 6, 2024  View Printable Version

Logs
** CUBA. 5025, Nov 6 at 0728, R. Rebelde music S9+45. Has been
reliable lately in contrast to RHC hard to find on any frequency
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 9490.000, Nov 6 at 0207, new frequency for R.
República via ISS, FRANCE, as measured into UTwente which is
accurately calibrated. In past has always been significantly skewed
plus, by maybe 20 Hz but had not measured it lately. Must have changed
transmitter or fixed the bad one. EiBi shows 9490 RR is Fri-Sun only
at 0100-0200! Surely it`s daily, as in Aoki but still with wrong time
0100-0200. During EDT was at 01-02 UT, but evidently shifted an hour
later for EST season. Even RMI skedgrid still shows 0100-0200 but
daily on 9490.

But ALSO UT Tue-Fri at 0200-0300 on 5800 WRMI-10 from System D. At
0230 I check 5800 into Georgia SDR, as it concludes `Encuentro
Informativo` -- but NOT // 9490. Then announces sked as Mon-Thu 10-11
pm on 5800, and Fri-Sun at 9-10 pm on 9490; repeated at 0253 on 5800.
So their own announced sked is wrong, as they are on both frequencies
now at same hour on a Tuesday/UT Wednesday! Certainly not RAE
Argentina on 5800 at 02-03 as shown on the transmitter grid!

Checking 9490 into Georgia SDR at 0258, S9+40/55! At 0300, ID and
pulls plug on 9490, but a much weaker and hummy carrier remains on
air, only S9/+10 into Georgia. At 0300, 5800 has gone on to R. Praga
in Spanish, NOT accounted for on WRMI skeds, showing it on 9955 System
B only, while xmtr sked for 5800 shows at 0300 Freedom Synergy Radio
--- NOT.

On 5800 there was some continuous clickery, I guess rather ineffective
jamming, but not the usual Cuban pulsing noise. It`s audible from 5787
to 5814, so centred on 5800. On 9490 into UTwente there is similar
clickery, like OTH radar, extending from 9458 to 9490, thus evitable
by tuning to 9490 USB - 32 Hz wide and stronger toward the centre of
that span. Earlier, had added extra hour certain days of week. Anyhow
a rather confusing situation currently.

R.R. is sponsored by the Directorio Democrático Cubano, not to be
confused with another DDC, Diario de Cuba which I sometimes link to
for The Other Side: https://diariodecuba.com/ ; (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** FRANCE. 21580, Nov 6 at 1852, OSOB sounds French at S1/S3; yes, RFI
at 1600-1900 for Africa, the first hour in Hausa (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Nov 6 at 0732, incredibly, the first place I hear
*rump`s victory speech live is here, VG direct, with Spanish
voice-over translation. Could this be REE? Yes! Also on weaker //
12030, JBA on 17715 and JBA carrier on 17755. These are the regular
REE frequencies for the broadcasts normally ending at 0300 weekdays on
9690 & 17715, 2400 on 12030 & 17755. I suspect they have all stayed on
air all-night for US elexion coverage. Probably from an RTVE domestic
network. However, the program sked for Hoy = miércoles at 0800-0904
local, whether or not it`s on SW, shows `Informativos -- Las Mañanas
de RNE - Josep Cuní`.

Surely a one-time expansion, but what collisions could this have
caused? HFCC shows REE 9690 registered only until 0400 weekdays, but
nothing else before 1100. 12030 could have 5 kW RDI, ELB, HOL, as
early as 0600. On 17715, nothing else before 1100. On 17755, nothing
else before 1330.
BTW, 7355 & 7435 R. Martí with otherstuff at 0740 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Wed Nov 6 at 2300, NO signal from SNR to N America,
direct nor into UTwente; but 12030 backwards to ME arrives
sufficiently direct with Radio 5/REE ID in passing, but stays in
Spanish instead of English! 17715 is a JBA carrier. Something`s
notright at Noblejas. At 2310 into Maryland SDR, still no 9690, but
12030. Per sked the 0000 local Thu show is `Doble Hélice` about
science, not English. Something`s messedup at Madrid (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960.004-, Wed Nov 6 at 2300, JBA carrier direct
from VOT. At 2311 into Maryland, S4/S7; at 2313 into UTwente when
measured, S9+30/35 and atop 6CI during olds. 2316 music. 2317 `Review
of the Turkish Press`. 2319 `Unexpected --- something` with Efsun the
axentuated; all I can understand is the subject, electro-shock
therapy. 2330 ``with-you-every-hour`` promo, music. 2335 `The Middle
East and Turkey`. 2340 TRTVOTVorld promo. 2341 `Sports Panorama`. 2349
``always-by-your-side`` promo, music. 2353 s/off for 13635 at 1330.
Something`s always awry at Ankara. 2353.5 IS to 2355.5* chop
uncovering the ChiCom (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 26110 NBFM, Nov 6 at 1854, JBA talk, presumed KOVR aux
KMK282 Stockton/Sacramento. Later, I see this report on the WOR iog:
``I checked for KMK282 NFM 26110 KHz at 1810 UT (11/6) and found a
signal peaking around S8 with deep fades. It stopped transmission for
a minute or so, but was back on at 1814 UT. I'm only getting a word or
two between the deep fades - "hanging out on the patio", "aspect", "we
have", "if you are in charge of the beer situation", "cheese", "we are
so excited", "nonprofit", "Good day Sacramento", etc. The signal
appeared to be slowing increasing up to 1827 UT and then the off at
18:27:21 UT or so. It was back on again at 1830 UT. They were talking
about Trump at 1830. Doug White, KA5ETS, Carrboro NC, AirSpy
HF+Discovery using 53' vertical with around thirty 25 ft radials (and
three 50 ft radials)``

Should not be that hard for me to hear it well like I used to, only
need a sporadic E MUF of 27+ MHz in the right spot between. No doubt
it`s single-hop F2 to NC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 17700, Nov 6 at 1846, S9+20/30 open carrier, no doubt VOA
Grimesland warming up for French to W Africa at 19-20 only. Is this
kilowastage really necessary? Might as well modulate it with something
useful, like English (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2267 monitoring: confirmed UT
Wednesday November 6 at 0030 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975.003+, S8/9+5
into UTwente.

Also confirmed UT Wednesday November 6 at 0030  on WRMI 9395, S9+20/35
into Georgia SDR.

Also confirmed Wednesday November 6 at 2030 on SW Radio, Germany,
3975.005-, S8/9+5 into UTwente.

Also confirmed Wednesday November 6 at 2200 on WBCQ 7490 -70 Hz,
S9+10/20 into NH SDR. Next:

0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975.

(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. After hearing *rump on SW from SPAIN, q.v., a quick scan
across the MW band at 0741-0743 UT Nov 6, before dozing, hears him on
these frequencies, many but not all major talkradio stations whose
identity should be obvious. Maybe via `Red Eye Radio` program, or a
special feed from Fox `news`, live but quite out of synch with each
other: 560, 700, 710, 720, 760, 780, 840, 850, 870, 880, 1120, 1150;
as it seems that `C2CAM` was still showing on some other stations.
Retch (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs November 5-6, 2024  View Printable Version
Wednesday, November 06 2024

Logs
** CUBA. 15230, Nov 5 at 1553, JBA carrier direct. Now, ANY signal
from RHC is notable; at 1558 into Georgia SDR, RHC IS, suptorted
modulation, S7/S9 into Georgia SDR; off by 1601 recheck (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** KOREA NORTH [non]. 11510, Nov 5 at 1555, talk in Korean, S7/S9
direct. Into Georgia SDR at 1559, S6/S8 with no ToH break. It`s RFA
via Tinang, PHILIPPINES at 1500-1700. Another example of us getting
aimed at 21 degrees far beyond target. No jamming audible. EiBi shows
Dengê Gel and/or Turkish jammer could also be here or anywhere up to
11550 before 1600 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960, Nov 5 at 2305, NO signal from VOT English,
something`s always erroneous at Emirler, only the Chinese in clear.
Then I check the 2130 frequency, and there it is! Running overtime on
9610+ but chops off at 2306* a few sex after I intune, uncovering
another ChiCom. So back to 5960? Not immediately. But by  next check
2322, now 5959.999+ is on, all as monitored via UTwente, S9+30/40. I
am not paying close attn since Efsun the axentuated is on again, but
`That`s Why` until 2326, music. 2330 ``Always-by-your-side`` promo,
music, and until 2341 `Weekly Commentary`, music. 2345 `Turkey`s
Geomarked Products`. 2348 ``with-you-every-hour`` promo, music,
``a-b-y-s`` again? 2352 s/off as if the 1330 on 13635. Something`s
always awry at Ankara. 2353 IS. 2356 re-start IS with German IDs. 0000
Nov 6 s/on in German, etc. and still going extraneously at 0018+. We
hear same program themes as during English, such as 2319 concluding
``Warum?`` rather than ``Das ist Warum``. Something`s always erroneous
at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2267 monitoring: confirmed UT
Tuesday Nov 5 at 0330 on WRMI 7780, S9/+15 into south TX SDR.

Not confirmed Tue Nov 5 at 1425 the 1400 on WRMI 9955, since there is
NO signal direct, while always stronger 9395 is a JBA carrier. Did
anyone hear it?

Confirmed Tuesday November 5 at 1516 the 1500 on WRMI 9955, S9+10/20
into Georgia SDR; at 1500 direct it was a JBA carrier.

Confirmed Tuesday November 5 at 2100 on IRRS via AM Italia, 1322.996+,
S9+7 into UTwente. Next:

0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;

Glenn Hauser logs November 3-4-5, 2024  View Printable Version
Tuesday, November 05 2024

Logs
** CANADA. 680, Nov 4 at 0745 UT tuneacross, immediately hear CJOB ID
and Winnipeg weather: hi 7, lo -3, windchill -8. Like so many
Canadians, obviously not on night pattern, supposed to be extremely
direxional NNE:
https://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=CJOB&service=AM&s=F&h=N
while daypat also favours NNE but less so:
https://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=CJOB&service=AM&s=F&h=D
yet despite my E/W longwire it dominates (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. 9415, Nov 4 at 2318, Vietnamese keeps mentioning
``Chung-kuo``, S9+20/30. It`s CRI via Beijing 572 site, but why so
good over here? HFCC shows 500 kW at 193 degrees apropos for Viet-nam
and not close to directly opposite (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA [and non]. 11670, Nov 4 at 1551, two Chinese sigs mixing,
S7/S9. EiBi shows CNR1 jamming vs RFA PHILIPPINES. 11765, much
stronger and clearer Chinese only, i.e. CNR1 jamming vs no RFA Kuwait
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KOREA NORTH. 9874.91, Nov 4 at 0737, JBA music. EiBi shows it`s
VOK in Russian on ``9875``. EiBi list is a great resource, but does
not always bother with specifying offfrequenciness, even when
habitual. On 31m does show three splits: two Brasil, one UAE, yet to
only one decimal place. Some `DXer`? complains, ``just round them
off`` -- NO, such details are significant aspects of a station! and
editors must not counteract our trouble in measuring them (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Mon Nov 4 at 2259, REE Spanish S9+30/40 direct with
contact info, URL for Ayuda/Víctimas. 2300 accurate timesignal, s/on
token English, intro topic, this is the 100th anniversary of some
museum, so will interview curator of 100 pictures for the occasion,
but first, 2301 news starting with protests vs monarx and PM about
late red alerts warning of the flash flooding in Valencia which killed
hundreds, complete with location yelling. At 2314 check other //
frequencies: > 12030 = 17715 > 17755 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 9610, Sun Nov 3 at 2147, VOT English, only S7/S8
weak with clickery and ChiCom CCI into UTwente: I was trying to catch
a prepeat of `Letterbox`, but insufficient (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960.003+, Sun Nov 3 at 2315, VOT English not off
the air, S9+30/40 into UTwente atop the CCCCCCI, also with own?
humroar, sports segment ending the olds by Efsun the accentuated who
is the `live` announcer this time, but where is `Letterbox`? 2320
music, 2325 more music, 2330 `Weekly Analysis`, I think a repeat, 2334
``always-by-your-side`` promo. Finally! 2335 `Letterbox`, this time
presented by Efsun. 1) Christer Brunström, Sweden, quite a regular,
this time with a question about whether VOT is really adding Norwegian
as mentioned previously? Answer seems waffling, at least not yet. 2)
Chris, Canada, topic? 2338 music break already! 2341 3) West Bengal,
subject? 2343 already another music break. 2345 talk about what? 2349
closing. 2350 headlines. 2352 s/off. 2353 IS to 2355* uncovering
China. It seems that each rotating L`box presenter does it in a very
different style. With Efsun, besides being hard to understand, it`s
late, shortened, gets to only 3 or 4 `letters`, and music padded. We
miss Halil! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960.016, Nov 4 at 2258, VOT not off the air, IS
& IDs, S9+10/20 direct but insufficient vs HSNL and also fluttery. At
2335 into UTwente when measured, VG S9+30/40, well atop some CCI, `The
Energy Agenda`. 2339 music. 2342 `That`s Why` again today with Efsun
the axentuated, ``the wonders of numbers``, but I can`t follow exactly
what ``impact on daily life``. 2350 headlines and s/off. 2353 IS. 2356
restart IS with German IDs. 0000 Nov 5 s/on German; chopoff by 0003 or
0004 uncovering the CCCCCCI. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 8992 USB, Nov 4 at 0731, US military crypto message is
fonetikaly underway, sked 0730? with usual echo implying more than one
transmitter site, but I`m not so sure of that. They seem to want to
make it less than clear copy for training purposes. The key repeated
several times is C6TRLB, and then the longer message starts with same,
not copied this time, but checked for //: yes, also on 15016 USB,
strongest on 4724 USB. Despite several repeats, could not understand
the closing tactical ID, ``This is ----, out`` (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. 28216+, Nov 3 at 2305, ID ID ID N7MA and more repeated,
presumably referring to Idaho; but not in WGB roster on any frequency.
QRZ.com: ``N7MA USA flag USA, MARK T AVAKIAN, 24443 E DOYLE RD,
CATALDO, ID 83810, USA --- My 10 Meter Propogation Beacon at Rose Lake
transmits on 28.2165MHz at 5 watts. It's pretty much always on with a
couple of deep cycle batteries for power. The transmitter is an old
Realistic HTX-100. The antenna is currently a dipole. The keyer is an
ID-O-Matic by N0XAS. The receiver in the HTX-100 smoked, literally,
years ago but the transmitter just keeps on going. I have a small fan
in back of the radio to keep things a little cool. For me part of the
fun of having the beacon is playing with antennas. So far it's had a
loop, dipole, and verticals 8', 17', 31' and 120' long. Bill, WJ5O is
sort of the USA Beacon Guru. His website has everything you've ever
wanted to know about beacons and then some. http://www.qsl.net/wj5o/ I
really like knowing if the beacon is getting out and to where, so
please drop me a email or QSL if you happen to hear it.`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2267 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
November 3 at 2001 on IRRS via AM Italia, 1322.995+, S9 but noisy into
UTwente.

Also confirmed Sunday November 3 at 2230 on SW Radio, Germany,
3975.003+, S8/S9 into UTwente.

Also confirmed Sunday November 3 at 2330 on WRMI-13 7780, S9/+10 but
noisy into Georgia SDR, for the third week instead of scheduled 7570
WRMI-11, transmitter/antenna still not recovered following H. Milton -
yet the WRMI skedgrid ignores such `temporary` measures. Must also
apply to all other ``7570`` programming at least during this hour.

Also confirmed UT Monday November 4 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, VG S9/+15
into NA5C south Texas SDR, as long scheduled here.

Also confirmed UT Monday November 4 at 0404, probably from 0400, on
Area 51 via WBCQ 6160 -69 Hz = 6159.931, S7/9+5 into NH SDR.

Also confirmed Monday November 4 at 2058 the 2030 on SW Radio,
Germany, 3975.002+, S9/+5 into UTwente. Next:
