More AWR broadcasts heard in Masset  View Printable Version
Tuesday, October 15 2024

HCDX
At 16:00 UTC (09:00 AM local, and just getting light), 3 broadcasts are
scheduled:
Marathi from Madagascar on 17730 with lovely South Asian music and
mentions of AWR. Not quite armchair copy, but close.
Telugu via Guam on 15670 at poor level
Urdu via Trincomalee on 11955 and 17565. The latter at fair level.
11955 had a nice OC at 16:00, but it went off about a minute later, so
either someone else or a transmitter problem. No carrier there when
rechecked at 16:10 UTC.

There's a slew of transmissions scheduled for 16:30 and onward. 73, Walt

Last few days of AWR programming for A24  View Printable Version
Tuesday, October 15 2024

I decided that I'd better start listening to AWR before they leave the air
in B24 (apart from Guam). At 05:00 17790 is very strong with Arabic
programming (via Madagascar), while 15560 is at good level via Issoudun in
Hausa. Two for two so far. 73 from Masset, where the ionosphere
continues to recover! Walt

Last few days of AWR programming for A24  View Printable Version

A correction. 15560 is via Moosbrunn, Austria (?soon to close).
At 06:00 I heard a nice AWR sign on with IS and English announcement and
into French on 15220 via Nauen, and 17790 via Nauen (with a bit of a
rumble...I suspect that the Madagascar transmitter was still present with
an OC). Both very good. Also heard at 06:00 15560 in Arabic via
Moosbrunn. Also very good.
There's literally a hundred frequencies and times to check during a 24 hour
period before the end of A 24 on October 26th. 73, Walt
