To: Stig Hartvig Nielsen <shn@wmr.dk>

Dear Radio208 and/or WMR listener

*Transmitter situation*

*World Music Radio* shifted to the new frequency of 5930 kHz on December 31
st 2020 from Bramming. Initially there were a few problems, but this was
soon fixed, and WMR can now be heard on 5930 kHz daily 0700-1745 UTC. As
of January 22nd 2021 power was increased from slightly under 100 Watts to
now 180 Watts and the audio quality has been improved. The plan is still
to increase power to 500 Watts on 5930 but this is probably not going to
happen until sometime in April or May.

The 19 m outlet was changed from 15805 to 15790 kHz on December 12th 2020
as planned. The new frequency works very well and have almost no
interference from the station on 15800 kHz. WMR can be heard on 15790 kHz
(200 Watts) every Saturday and Sunday at 0700-2000 UTC. Reception is best
in the Middle East, Russia and SE Europe in the morning, then the signal
strength increases in So. Europe and in the afternoon reception is best in
SW Europe and also possible in Eastern North America and Brazil. Currently
reception on 19 m is poor in Central Europe. Remember to use AM mode when
listening on 15790 kHz. The audio gets distorted if using ECSS/SAM or
LSB/USB modes

Work on the aerial for 927 kHz in Hvidovre, Copenhagen, continues but has
been delayed due to the current winter weather. Luckily the concrete
footing for the mast was made before the ground froze.

And finally some really exciting news: From the Summer season starting
March 28th 2021 WMR is planning on using 25770 kHz from a new transmitter
site in the southern part of Aarhus. Even with the current low sunspot
figures, some interesting E-skip and F2 propagation is expected. More
details next month.

*Radio208* continues 24 hours a day seven days a week on 1440 kHz from
Ishøj, Copenhagen. Power is 500 Watts. Works very well.

On the other hand: The shortwave outlet for Radio208 coming from Hvidovre,
Copenhagen, have had a run of bad luck. The old frequency 5805 kHz went
silent late November 22nd 2020 and it wasn’t until December 9th we had
Radio208 back on the air – on the new frequency 5970 kHz with full power
250 Watt. But only for a few hours. The next day, the signal was gone. On
December 11th we managed to get 5970 on the air again – but now with 50
Watts only, but this didn’t last either. Two different, broken
transmitters. One has now been fixed and the other is awaiting a new PSU
module. A couple of days ago we managed to get one of the transmitters on
the air again on 5970 kHz, but now the connection between the studio and
the transmitter failed. That was supposed to have been fixed today, but due
to the winter weather this has been postponed to February 9th. So –
hopefully Radio208 will be on the air on 5970 kHz – daily 0700-1600 UTC –
with 100 Watts of power from Tuesday next week. There are also plans to
install a new and better aerial for 5970 kHz – when the weather becomes a
bit better.

*QSLs*

DX’ers waiting for a QSL from WMR and/or Radio208 - please be a bit
patient. I am running a bit late. But I hope to have most eQSLs (for WMR in
2020 – and for Radio208 reports from 2020 and 2021) sent out within the
next few days. There will be a new QSL 2021 from WMR later this month.

*Please help keeping AM radio alive – and WMR and Radio208 on the air *

Listeners of World Music Radio and Radio208 are kindly invited to send a
donation to cover some of the costs involved with running these two,
non-commercial radio stations. The running costs includes music royalties
(450 euro per month) and electricity costs for the AM-transmitters. Funds
are also needed for setting up the aerial for the 927 kHz transmitter in
Hvidovre, Copenhagen, and for the new transmitter and aerial for 25770 kHz.

All amounts are welcome!!
