Glenn Hauser logs April 19, 2020 |
|
Sunday, April 19 2020
![Logs](http://www.hard-core-dx.com/images/hcdx/logs.gif) ** CUBA. 5040, April 19 at 0615, RHC is still on but in mushy Spanish when no SW frequency is supposedly scheduled; maybe it was in English at 05-06. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 13700 & 13780, Sunday April 19 at 1335, RHC `En Contacto` canned opening by voice of Marta Ríos, as outroed by this week`s co-host María Elena Calderín, reading the script by Prof. Coro Antich.. Arnie says he`s working from home due to CV isolation --- but he`s always phoning in from home. Spends first 5 minutes on World Music Radio, Denmark, q.v. Then, 6.1 earthquake hit western Cuba. Record hi temps lead to tropo DX; hams from neighboring Jamaica, Bahamas, Florida, Mexico have been getting into the nationwide 2-meter repeater network. Also JBA on 13620 & 13860; see separate log. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13620 & 13860, April 19 at 1349, RHC `En Compañía del Doctor` JBA enough modulation on these two leapfrog mixing products between S9+30 13700 & 13780, another 80 kHz plus and minus. Once again, not topic-V, but the value of aspirin vs infarxions. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11760, S9+10/20 clear // 15140 S9+10/20 distorted, April 19 at 1508, RHC in Spanish instead of Esperanto Sundays, kio okazis? Io ĉiam estas malĝusta ĉe RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** DENMARK. 15805, Sunday April 19 at 1325, no signal direct from World Music Radio, as reactivated weekends only. This time by 1521 I bring up the KiwiSDRs in Europe to check it. Of the three in Spain, only Barcelona has a trace of it. Of the 13 in Italy, the first one I try, Rome, is getting it, but awful distortion from wobbling unstable carrier tuning USB or LSB. Isn`t SHN monitoring his own output? 1525 break in pop music as YL mentions Denmark in English; can`t stand any more of it by 1533. 1600 recheck still awful, unlistenable until I switch to AM, by which it`s not so bad. Maybe this is why SHN advises not to tune in SSB, which otherwise could improve such weak-signal reception! 1643 cuts off suddenly, or at least most of the modulation as the mushy carrier still seems there vs Roman noise level: nothing but squealing when tuned to 15804-USB. 1856 recheck, much weaker with distorted music. Earlier at 0915-0935, Manuel Méndez in Spain called it a ``clear signal``. BTW, in yesterday`s report I said WTWW has not been on 15805 for months; in fact the frequency it has not been on is 15810. BTW2, Arnie Coro devoted the first 5 minutes of his RHC Spanish DX show this week to WMR, derived from SHN`s notice about it as on HCDX. Sked is Sat/Sun only 0700-2000, 200 watts southwards. AC suggests yagi would raise ERP to 800 watts (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ECUADOR. 6050, April 19 at 0558, S8-S9 of hymn in Spanish, 0600 no timesignal nor any announcement but another hymn, 0603 yet another. Got to be HCJB running overtime instead of closing by 0500*. Only QRM when the RHC news sounder bursts from 6060. HCJB has been reported overnight before, by Wolfgang Bueschel March 15 = also Sunday, at 0750-0805 via remote in Rochester NY (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** EQUATORIAL GUINEA. 5005, April 19 at 0604, JBA carrier, so it seems Bata is back on air again, probably starting an hour earlier. Ron Howard had found it absent April 16-17-18, and Manuel Méndez agrees it was back today when checked at 0515 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. RF 23, KSBI ``52``, April 19 at 1300-1430+ is carrying `CBS Sunday Morning`, which has been shunted here from RF 25 KWTV ``9`` because the big 4 OKC TV stations are all carrying a pre-recorded commemoration at the 25th anniversary of the OKC bombing --- normally they would all go live for the ceremony including reading names of all 168 victims. At least KWTV provides this alternative on its sub-station. I believe I previously denied that 52 is known as ``News 9 Plus``, but now I see such an ID slide at breaks, at least when it is carrying KWTV programming (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SAO TOME E PRINCIPE. 15460.069, April 19 at 1506, JBA talk, i.e. VOA Hausa from the frequency-offable Pinheira site (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 15450.025, April 19 at 1321, I`m awake barely early enough to check VOT 1230 English to WEu and NAm beyond: S4 to S8 peaks with music, typically off-frequency, but could be worse. Brief unreadable YL announcement and off 1325*. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 2097.3-CW, April 19 at 0610 UT, single-letter beacon A once every dekasecond is back! I bandscan across here almost every night and it`s been missing since my last log February 21; or rather I first reported it missing as of March 4. A has been previously located as anywhere but Quartzsite, Arizona (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. Next WORLD OF RADIO 2030 SW airings: 0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE 0300vUT Monday WBCQ 5130v Area 51 and/or 6160v to WSW 0330 UT Monday WRMI 9955 to SSE 0900 UT Monday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB or 3210 1800vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Romania? to WNW 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Thanks this week for financial support from Gerald T. Pollard, Raleigh NC, who sent a generous US$ cheque to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. 9839.8 approx., Sunday April 19 at 1328, lite het upon WHRI weekend-only broadcast catches my ear, 9840 with gospel huxter closing from Warsaw, Indiana, 1330 on to Kimberly Ann who thinx it`s Friday. I`m expecting perpetual off-frequency Voice of Turkey as sked on 9840 daily at 13-16, but Vietnam is also on here until 1530, IIRC also off-frequency like 9839.9, but hard to find any recent logs of that since Harold Frodge on 6 March 2011. O, here`s a recent 2020 one indicating my het is Vietnam, not Turkey: ``9840.004, TRT Turkish mx program, S=9+15dB noted at Doha Qatar SDR unit. And noted some adjacent whistle tone likely VoVTN Son Tay in Japanese on 9839.774 kHz odd fq at 14.36 UT on March 31 (wb df5sx, wwdxc BC-DX TopNews March 31)`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7890 & 11835, April 19 at 0606, JBA carriers on the second and third harmonix of inaudible 3945. R. Vanuatu multiples are quite the sensation for Pacificans, Ron Howard and remote receivers. So far have seen no reports of harmonix of their other frequencies. See previous log report for those to seek (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 1956 UT April 19 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

![Logs](http://www.hard-core-dx.com/images/hcdx/logs.gif) A20 SHORTWAVE SCHEDULES: LINX TO MANY VARIETIES OF http://www.worldofradio.com
** DENMARK. 15805, Sat April 18 at 1452, no signal from World Music Radio, which Stig Hartvig Nielsen publicized last weekend has resumed with 200 watts southward, Sat & Sun only at 0700-2000. I was not really expecting to hear it direct, but here to spread the word for Sunday tryers. At least no QRM now from 15800 China, and WTWW-3 has not been testing 15805 for months (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ETHIOPIA. 6090, April 18 at 0532, JBA carrier in the protracted absence of Anguilla. Presumably Amhara State Radio, which has been reported active by others; should be much better from *0300 when I am seldom tuning (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO. 6185, April 18 at 0535, S8-S9 of dead air from XEPPM. May have been refurbished and extended schedule to 0800 but still needs some work! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** PHILIPPINES [non]. 9700, April 19 at 0022, tonal SE Asian language and music bits, S9-S7 so one of better signals on band, exceeding e.g. some WRMIs, until 0028*. O yes, it`s the *only* SW broadcast left from Radio Veritas Asia, in Kachin, 250 kW, 72 degrees via SMG VATICAN site daily from 0000, yet incredibly putting such a good signal back here to deep North America, totally in wrong direxion, not even directly off the back. Searching EiBi and NDXC on Veritas gets only this one hit (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ROMANIA. 11950, fair April 18 at 1457, two rock songs, language uncertain until 1500 timecheck in Romanian, and presumed news but chopped off at 1500:15*. Yes, RRI scheduled 1300-1500, 285 degrees from Galbeni to CIRAF 27SE = France. Romanian expatriates are among the most fortunate to have SW linx from the patrie. And there are a lot of them: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanian_diaspora including 700K+ in USA & Canada (Glenn Hauser (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SCOTLAND [non]. 5850 // 5010, UT Sunday April 19 at 0100-0200, `Encore` classical music hour from Radio Tumbril via WRMIs, VG and fair respectively; Playlist is still up from last week. Another chance UT Monday 02-03 on 9455 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TINIAN. 13575.047, April 18 at 1450, VP Chinesish, off-frequency signaling it`s probably USAGM on a Northern Mariana Island. In this case RFA Cantonese this hour only (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9791.40V to 9791.22V, April 18 from 2056 to 2059* as I am trying to measure it, Turkish talk and music, bit of TRT IS before cut off at 2059*. Must be the 1600-2100 all-Turkish transmission to W Europe, 500 kW, 310 degrees so also USward, which is supposed to be on 9460, unchecked. Others have noted this anomaly. Alan Holder, Isle of Wight found them on 9780 at 1800 instead of 9460. The 1300-1600 Turkish on same azimuth is now scheduled on 9840. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler. However, quick check amid the 2200 hour to North America finds music funxional on 9830 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U K. 9800, April 18 at 2059-2100* JBA signal with talk, presumed again World`s Last Chance via Woofferton, in Arabic, and not // 9330 Arabic via WBCQ which is playing the apocalyptic `Carol of the Bells` IS (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2030 monitoring: unavoidably awake Saturday April 18 at 1155, I can detect me on WRMI 9955 for the revived 1130 airing, VP with Cuban Commie pulse jamming. Ivo Ivanov, Bulgaria, reports: ``Reception of World of Radio #2030 via WRMI-09 Okeechobee, April 18: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozCQ5urQ4EU&feature=youtu.be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOObH3UQyqg&feature=youtu.be https://swldxbulgaria.blogspot.com/2020/04/world-of-radio2030-via-wrmi-09.html 1300-1330 15770 RMI 100 kW / 044 deg WeEu English Sat, fair signal`` Also confirmed UT Sunday April 19 starting at 0312 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, Wentzville MO, fair via Peoria KiwiSDR. Next: 0900 UT Sunday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB or 3210 0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE 0300vUT Monday WBCQ 5130v Area 51 and/or 6160v to WSW 0330 UT Monday WRMI 9955 to SSE 0900 UT Monday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB or 3210 1800vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Romania? to WNW 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Thanks this week for financial support from Gerald T. Pollard, Raleigh NC, who sent a generous US$ cheque to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 6160v, April 19 at 0014, this WBCQ is still off, but 5130 is S9, undermodulated and wobbly like 6160 was, so same transmitter? 0049 sounds better with music, tweaked, or swapped back to original transmitter? This hour is scheduled as GRITS Radio on Area 51 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0320 UT April 19 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

A arabic song; 1825 Man talks and begins the Qur´an chant; 1827 Qur´an recitation; Man announcer in conversation with a man and says the word Coronavirus. Very good signal and a moderate interference by a strange audio to seems a Radar (It´s a radar audio or a unknown jamming?). It´s beginning since the new A20 period. Cuba is still jamming 13820 despite Radio Marti having moved to 13605 for the A-season Stations should not be foolish enough ever to use a former/seasonal Marti frequency during its scheduled hours, or any hours 73, Glenn Hauser _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

![Logs](http://www.hard-core-dx.com/images/hcdx/logs.gif) More logs using TWR's Kiwi SDR in Kempton Park, South Africa. After 20:30, strange noise bursts happen on the entire spectrum roughly twice per minute. This turned out to be Johannesburg's HFDL (digital air traffic communications) station which is located very close to Kempton Park, and must cause an overload when using certain frequencies.
CHINA PBS Qinghai made a surprise visit with decent signals on 18 April 2020 at 1507: Traditional chants, 5990 45333 // 9850 32432. (EiBi - TWR KiwiSDR Kempton Park, RSA)
FRANCE RFI on unscheduled 9690 kHz, 18 April 2020, 0555, Info about "Artistes pour containement", 55433. All listed parallels were on: 9790, 7390, 11700. Went through ToH without interruption, after 0600 with new parallels: 15300, 9790, 11700, 13695. (EiBi - TWR KiwiSDR Kempton Park, RSA)
