** CHINA. CNR1 jammer survey, June 10 from 1327 as I am up earlier than usual. There is only one signal heard u.o.s., mostly presumably against Sound of Hope inaudible here. 15340 S8/9+10. No sign of scheduled Romania. I put that on the backup PL-880 to make // comparisons onward, u.o.s.
1328, 15165 also with victim making fast SAH, S8-S9, vs VOA Thailand this hour only 1328, 15130 atop another Chinese: VOA Philippines this hour only 1329, 14980 // 1333, 14900 //, S5-S7 1335, 16100 //, S5-S8 1335, 16160 //, S9/+10 1336, 16300, JBA, //? 1337, 13920, JBA // 1338, 13640 // 1339, 13630 // 1340, 13130 //, S7-S9 1341, 12820 //, S7-S9 1342, 12795 //, S8/9+10 1344, 11785 //, mixing with VOA Philippines None WOOB just above or below 11 MHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KOREA SOUTH. 15575, June 10 at 1324, KBS World Radio so-called NAm service in English is nearing its solsticial peak, a hefty S4-S7 into deep North America, about COVID-19, vax stats in ROK; 1351 in a travelogue about hiking around Jeju Island at sunrise; now it`s S7-S9; 1400 into Korean hour. Most of the year this emission is a JBA carrier or less, because it`s far too high a band for a mostly-dark high-latutude path, but which is now getting max insolation (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2090) ** SPAIN. 17855, June 10 after 2200, REE to NAm is holding up well; Thursday is a day skipping English, but what`s on in Spanish? `Amigos de la Onda Corta`, with the familiar voice of Antonio Buitrago, who got a promotion to run the station. I missed the first few minutes, but this edition is an interview about ``derecho de acceso`` at RTVE itself. It seems this is an issue about various groups getting airtime at the domestic public broadcaster; and there is now a bureaucratic procedure for making their case via a form on the website. With `shortwave` in its name, this has been classified as a `DX` program, and the outro does mention DX among other topix, but as much as I have been familiar with it, axual DXing and SW have seldom been covered, rather media in the broadest sense. There is a huge archive of podcasts like all their other programs, 371 of these here with titles for each, not about SW or DX in the first two pages inspected: https://www.rtve.es/alacarta/audios/amigos-de-la-onda-corta/ Most of them are a little too long to fit into 30-minute slots. The page header shows airtimes, but altho in UT are obviously keyed for winter time, now one UT hour earlier than: ``Amigos de la onda corta --- Jueves a las 17.00 y 23.00 horas, viernes a las 02.00 horas y sábados a las 13.00 horas UTC`` I do notice that none of them including this one are to be found in the WWDXC A21 schedule of SWL/Media Programs in English, German, Spanish, https://www.wwdxc.de/swl.pdf (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** UGANDA [non]. 15170, Thu June 10 after 1500, NO signal from the strange unID target broadcast seemingly via Romania; it was scheduled in HFCC to skip Wednesday, which it did, but to resume Thursday. What`s next on Friday+? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2090) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2089 monitoring: confirmed UT Thu June 10 at 0130 on WRMI 50100, S9/+10 into Bonaire SDR. As usually happens, the preacher preceding is too long, gets cut off for ID at 0129.5 before he can give his contact info, tsk. WORLD OF RADIO 2090 contents: Antarctica, Australia, Benin, Canada, Chile, China, Cuba, Egypt, Greece. Ireland, (Japan), Kashmir, Korea North and non, Korea South, Madagascar, Mali, (Myanmar), Netherlands, Nicaragua, North America, Perú, (Romania), Switzerland, Turkey, Uganda non, UK, USA, Vanuatu, Vietnam; Madison GTG; propagation outlook WOR 2090 is available as of 2342 UT Thursday June 10, 2021 (mp3 stream) http://www.w4uvh.net/wor2090.m3u (mp3 download) http://www.w4uvh.net/wor2090.mp3 Or via http://www.worldofradio.com/audiomid.html Also linx to podcast services. I know that you have been doing it for years and years. It is a nice public service and is really informative.`` And recommends FM DX-fishing in the car from a large parking lot, where he heard an OKC station, KYIS 98.9. Log: ERT 9420 kHz 1818 UTC |
|
Thursday, June 10 2021

GREECE From the experiences of the last 3 decades, with ERT engineers and their intimate information for the crowd, the Greek National community living in North America and their given detailed information in the past, which had a lot of close relationship contacts to ERT has or had in Greece homeland, - I guess - one of the remaining two 100 kW Marconi units working now - after repair work - properly again.... - and the - only - single 250 kW Continental unit that recently ERT had been using {as reserve at reduced power of 170 kW only on very special occasions} had always shown these 'nervous overloaded audio faults' in past decades. As it that unit that developed a fault recently?
And - yes - it has been replaced with one of the 100 kW Marconi(?) - now recently repaired units. The Greek in Avlis never erected the remaining other four US-Continentals out of US IBB RFE Portugal fundus - and was a gift by the US govt - in the past - in mid 90ties. 73 wolfie df5sx wwdxc germany ----- Original Message ----- From: Richard Langley <lang@unb.ca>
Sent: Wednesday, June 09, 2021 Subject: Re: [WOR] [A-DX] Log: ERT 9420 kHz 1818 UTCI'm having a bit of trouble understanding the nuances of this message. ERT has or had, whether working or not, 2 100 kW Marconi units and up to 5 250 kW Continental units. I presume that recently ERT had been using one of the 250 kW units on 9420 kHz at reduced power (WRTH says 170 kW). Was it that unit that developed a fault recently? And has it been replaced with one of the 100 kW Marconi units? Are all of the Continental units now defective? Thanks in advance for straightening me out. -- Richard Langley

Glenn Hauser logs June 8-9, 2021 |

Wednesday, June 09 2021
** CUBA. 5040, June 8 at 0605, S9+20 of dead air from RHC; the rest of The Cuban Five: 6165 is also dead air in English, S9+10. 6100 is off; 6060 humbuzz; 6000 still on. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 13638 & 13762 approx., June 8 at 1413, weak spurblobs with F# tone but no program modulation, out of modulated 13700-AM RHC Spanish, at plus/minus ~62 kHz offsets; but no further multiples audible. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** RUSSIA [non]. In order to cite a precise cutoff time of the q.v. UGANDA [non] on 15170, I then tune the same UTwente to 9996 for RWM to calculate how much internet delay there may be and also as a correxion factor for my watch. No timesignals audible on 10000, but RWM is quite good. Unfortunately it`s running a continuous carrier 1534-1538. What good is that, when it could be ticking or pipping?? 1538 silence; 1539 the minute of RWM CW IDs over and over. 1540 resumes pips, some doubled, with extended one at tops of minutes such as 1541:000 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** UGANDA [non]. And I do mean non! Another check of 15170 with test transmissions at 1500-1530, Tue June 8: tune-in 1501 via UTwente, seems the same technically as other days despite far different IRRS ``MIL`` azimuth registered for Tuesdays only. Is on exactly 15170.000, a datum which might in itself be significant in pinning it on a site. But today, not a word about Uganda politix! Instead country/rock songs in English at first, S9+15; 1510 cut to `Astronomy-cast`, weekly program #605, informal discussion between unID OM host and YL expert Pamela, first about telescopes on rockets. Keeps going until chopped off the air at 1529:04*. This is typical IRRS programming, presumably continuous on webcast, pulling fragments of various webprograms/podcasts at odd times to fill out the ``schedule``. Most of them probably unaware of their worldwide SW audience! Now will there be anything on Wednesday, the only DOW skipped in HFCC registrations? Here`s that podcast, total time 1:00:35: http://www.astronomycast.com/2021/05/ep-605-sounding-rockets/ leads to YouTube where we may also see the duo in split-screen AstronomyCast episode 605: Sounding Rockets. Transcriptions provided by GMR Transcription Services ``Fraser: Welcome to AstronomyCast, our weekly facts-based journey through the cosmos, where we help you understand not only what we know, but how we know what we know. I’m Fraser Cain, publisher of Universe Today. With me as always is Dr. Pamela Gay, a Senior Scientist for the Planetary Science Institute, and the director of CosmoQuest. Hey Pamela! How you doing?`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See also RUSSIA ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2089 monitoring; next: 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2200 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Doug Brown, London, Ontario, for a generous cheque on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA; and comments: {I am too modest to keep repeating these in every report for a week; but you may see them in original report} One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. 12050, June 8 at 1528, WEWN Spanish is back here after several days on 12040, so it my collide again with Ndarason at 19-21. Current EiBi as of June 5 already had them moved to 12040. Tnx to tip from Rick Barton, AZ. Just after 19 UT I explore how they share/collide via various remotes: Bonaire, only WEWN VG; Buenos Aires, and Namibia, neither! TWR South Africa is always ``blocked`` when I go to it; is it just me, or everyone? There are no remotes anywhere near Chad, but Kuwait is getting Ndarason only, well from Woofferton. After 2000 I check 12050 on the portable PL-880 here: WEWN is atop but considerable QRM from RNI/WOF underneath (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 6115, June 9 at 0040 and still 0044, dead air from WWCR-1, or rather occasional traces of distorted modulation peaks. Wiggle that patchcord! How can anystation expect anyone to listen, or more pertinently, anyone to pay for airtime, when no one at the station itself is constantly monitoring to be sure there are no problems?? Scheduled during this hour is `Financial Survival`, ha2, tsk2. Refund? Now entering 33rd year on air, act still not together. WWCR traditionally modifies its transmission schedule by June, and the current one dated May 29-August 31 is now shown at https://www.wwcr.com/transmitter-sched.html Nothing exciting, but there may have been some shifts in timespans of the same old frequencies; I have not tried to compare with the previous one, no longer exhibited (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0132 UT June 9 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
