Which transmitter at Quivican in service ?

it's an easy task, five transmitter of 250 kW each available there.

CRI Beijing China
America relay at Cuba in use on 5990 kHz in 49 mb to ITU zones 8S,10E,11W
some 3 hours earlier.
So, a Keyboard glitch by the RadioCuba engineer at 01 or 02 UT then ?

2300-2400 5990 QVC 250 n-dir NoAM English in A-19 TX#1
0000-0100 5990 QVC 250 n-dir NoAM Spanish in A-19 TX#1

6000 kHz at 010 degr Chicago azimuth then ... in A-19 TX#2

Unfortunately, when transmitters get too old, they can get to a point of
being almost impossible to maintain. Wiring gets dry and brittle, plus
parts and tubes get impossibly hard to find.

And today at 0200 they are back to 6000 kHz so apparently yesterday was
a whoops. Too bad ....
This hour only 6165 and 6000 are heard in English 5040 and 6060 are in
Spanish well, 9535 has SOMEthing -- a moderate carrier and just barely
audible modulation that is probably them. 9580 has a very strong carrier
just barely modulated with what I want to say sounds like Mandarin but I
wouldn't swear to that. Nothing on 9700 as expected.

I'm STILL not exactly sure why they need so many channels in 49 metres
but better than abandoning SW as so many others have I guess. Now to just
get them to maintain the transmitters a little better! ....

KCUP 1230 Toledo, Oregon DX Test Report  View Printable Version
Monday, April 12 2021

HCDX
First weekend off in eight weeks. Finally found time to dig through all the reports and compile a list of those who successfully received the test. Joe Miller will be working on electronic QSL’s which will be e-mailed in the coming weeks. Please be patient.

Also authored the attached report for the station owner, Steve Rubin.

We are very grateful for Mr. Rubin for airing the test.

Also all credit and thanks due to our volunteers on the Courtesy Program Committee for the International Radio Club of American & National Radio Club. They are:

kj8o.ham@gmail.com <mailto:kj8o.ham@gmail.com> Joseph Miller, KJ8O
walkerbroadcasting@gmail.com <mailto:walkerbroadcasting@gmail.com> Paul Walker
w4lvhsc@gmail.com <mailto:w4lvhsc@gmail.com> Loyd Van Horn, W4LVH
gsantulli@hotmail.com <mailto:gsantulli@hotmail.com> George Santulli

Any mistakes in the report are mine. Apologies for the delay. Congratulations to all who received the test. There were several over 2,000 miles distant, and a new NRC Graveyard Record claim by Odd-Jorgen Sagdahl in Norway. It is at a distance of 4,524 miles.

Tim Hall will make the official determination. But it’s safe to say that a new record was set during this test.
